Fantasy and reality are about to collide… and I’m totally not ready for it.Walking in my supermodel sister’s shadow my entire life did a number on my confidence. So, when my girlfriends suggest something completely insane in an attempt to improve my self-esteem, I figure, why not. I mean, what’s the worst that could happen, right?I turn my room into an online fantasy world while hiding my … fantasy world while hiding my identity behind a sexy maid’s outfit and a pretty mask. And it works. It gives me the armor I need to fend off my mother and sister’s condescending remarks.
Everything was going great…until the gorgeous single dad I’ve been quietly pining over recognizes me on one of my live feeds.
After a mortifying confrontation, I make it my life’s mission to avoid him at all cost. Which is near impossible since we live in the same building—that, and the fact that he’s determined to hunt me down…
*Be ready for a hot single dad, his smartass teenage son and more than one hilarious meet cute.

No one seems to find issues with a boy stealing his dads information to go on adult websites. The dad seems to have no problems letting his son do this. His only thing was to say that’s not right. He has no issues with his sons promiscuity. The boy even showed him his favorite lube because it was on sale he claims. The woman has no issues that an angry parent is confronting her, only that she thinks he’s stalking her. Sure I get it but I think she should have said okay, let’s talk about this. Who is your son, yes how did you find out it was me and handled matters like adults. No one here was an adult. The dads excitement over finding out his son wasn’t seeing “Sadie” because that means she’s fair game for him to move in is also disgusting and disappointing. Sure they’re both legal adults but your son was masturbating to this woman and you had no issues with this only that now you can have some of her yourself. I have no idea what kind of dad this man is. Maybe others looked past how the son always seems to have a different hookup and girl at his new private school his dad enrolled him in but to me when I read a romance book I don’t want to read about underage sex and masturbation. Sorry, I just don’t. I definitely don’t want to read about a dad scooping up the girl his son was jack and the bean stalking over (Attic Ups’s words, not mine). I love sex and x rated material like the next guy and love all sorts of sexiness. This ISNT one of them. So to me this book is simply a no go. If you think so then okie dokie. This bear gave this book 5 angry faces and a nice did not finish.
4 stars for Flirty by J.B. Heller. This is book one in the Unexpected Lovers series. OMG there was some funny father/ son moments between Arlo and Atticus in this book. They had me rolling. Kinsley has always struggled with insecurities and Atticus wants her like he hasn’t wanted any one before. Atticus wants to show her she is more than her insecurities. This book is a rom com filled with laughs, romance, and steam. I loved everything about this story. I’m hoping Kinsley’s roommates get their own books.
Holy cow! I read this entire book in one sitting!! I’ve never done that before!! I love love love these characters, MCs and secondary! It was fantastic from beginning to end!! You’ll not be disappointed with this one!!!
Once again JB Heller makes me fall in love with her characters and the sorry. Such a fun read. If you haven’t read it yet – Why not you’ll love it
A fun, quirky, more than meets the eye type of book.
…this book makes you smile, intrigues you to keep reading
A must read, entertaining and refreshing.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. JB Heller is one of my favorite authors. This book may be a quick read but it is a hilarious romcom. I loved it.
Kinsley has been out down all her life by her mom and sister. She’s not pretty enough not smart enough. So when Mr tall, dark, and brooding seeks her out she doesn’t know what he sees in her
Atticus hasn’t had the best track record with woman. He’s a single dad to a 16 year old and he hasn’t found a woman yet to let it their lives. That is until he recogonizes a lavender tattoo. Odds are in his favor when he finds out that she lives in his same building.
I loved the banter between dad and son. It had me laughing out loud at all the male testosterone. Definitely a great read.
Another great story from JB! The story starts an embarrassing situation for Atticus and his son Arlo. This leads to a confrontation with Kinsley thinking something more is going on. What happens next is watching 2 people find out about each other and fall in love.
A great short read that has you laughing and wanting to help the characters get to their happily ever after. I also appreciated how Atticus stood up for Kinsley against her toxic family and made her see her true beauty. Also loved the cameos from the characters in other JB stories! Definitely worth the read!
This was a cute and fun read. I am so looking forward to Em’s book.
Flirty was the first J.B. Heller book I’ve read and I wasn’t disappointed. Once I started, I couldn’t stop. I meant to only read a couple of chapters while eating and ended up reading the whole book
I enjoyed this short, steamy romance that had me laughing at times and shaking my heads at other times. It was funny how Atticus discovered that Kinsley was doing something a little unconventional on the side. His son, Arlo, was my favorite character and I loved the relationship between Atticus and Arlo. Kinsley wasn’t my favorite character because I just couldn’t understand her issues and why she kept her name from Atticus for so long. I didn’t get why she kept in contact with her family when all they did was tear her down. She had some wonderful friends in her life that she didn’t have to deal with her mother and sister belittling her on a monthly basis. I did enjoy Atticus and Kinsley’s relationship once it got started and they were dating. This was a short, sweet novella about an unconventional start to a romantic relationship that was fun to read. I’ll be sure to try some more of J.B.’s books in the future!
*I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.*
Atticus and Kinsley we’re everything!!!!! I loved how funny this book was and I didn’t want it to end cause the humor. This is the perfect romcom with a hero and heroine you can’t help but love. Atticus and Kinsley first encounter was epic and I loved how Atticus finally made Kinsley come out of her shadow!
This story actually made me snort. A romantic comedy that will have you laughing and loving every minute of it. The characters are quirky and wonderful throughout this original story. I wish there was more of Atticus and Kinsley as they quickly became two of my favorites. Another hit from a very talented author that you have to read.
I loved this book. Kinsley and Atticus have great chemistry. It made me laugh and I power read it in a few hours
When you are laughing so hard you are crying on the very first page you know you have a fantastic story ahead. That’s how Flirty is. JB Heller is a pro at writing rom-coms and this is definitely no exception. Atticus is a single father to Arlo, an incorrigible 16 year old boy lol. Kinsley, aka Sadie to Arlo, is a beautiful woman that lives in their building. The sparks are flying between Atticus and Kinsley even though she is almost painfully shy and insecure thanks to her family. Their story is hilariously funny, full of steam, amazing characters and a HEA. I can not wait for more of this series!
Flirty – J B Heller
Flirty, fun, fabulous….. three superlatives to describe this wonderful offering from JB Heller.
A wonderfully real ensemble of characters with Atticus Blaine, the seriously hot, single dad, divorce lawyer as the primary male character. He’s everything a girl like Kinsley needs to blossom. Kinsley struggles under the unrealistic expectations of her family but a hilarious encounter with Atticus leads her to discover her real self.
Wonderful supporting characters with tie-ins to JB Hellers “Starfish” and of course there’s Arlo…… a sixteen year old horn-dog with wonderfully witty banter. Read the book to understand what this statement is about.
A total blast to read from cover to cover. Recommended reading with no reservations.
Though a stand-alone, Reading Starfish first would only enhance your reading enjoyment.
Thanks for another fabulous story JB Heller.
I will list some of the things I liked about this book.
That the cover pictured a mulberry haired heroine as described in the book.
That the hero was pictured as a mature man that was not a playboy type.
That the heroine was a 26-year-old virgin, shy but healthy.
That this couple professed their love for one another before full-blown sex.
That the father-hero was a role model for his teen son, leading by example.
In spite of these against-the-grain situations, it was a fun, entertaining read.
This was a really funny and interesting book to read and I really loved it so much I can’t wait to read another one of your book
“I received a free copy with no obligation to review”
Such a fun Flirty romantic read filled with such wonderful fun loving characters that leave you wanting more.
Kinsley is such a sweet young woman looking to grow and develop into a strong passionate confident woman, despite having a soul crushing relationship with her own mother and sister.
Atticus is a single dad a lawyer who discovers his 16 year old son in an unexpected position.
This is the start of comical journey that will leave you laughing out loud at the antics of these characters; including Kinsley’s room mates.
I’m hoping to read more about her roommates in future stories.
Sweet baby Lucifer! JB has produced the goods yet again!
Witty, beautiful, bold and real. The characters are so relatable and you just will not be able to put the book down. It hit me in all the feels and I may or may not have choked laughing a few times. I simply cannot wait for the next instalment and recommend reading it for anyone that wants a solid, exciting and fresh book on the palate
Oh Lordy, Lordy!
I needed a book to reset my mind from other books that I read and writing my own, and this was the perfect one to do it! I was honored to be included for an ARC and I can’t thank J.B and Anastasia for that!
The characters had me in the palm of their hands the entire time, Kinsley is so relatable with her own inner struggles and how she was portrayed, many of us could really feel what she was thinking and saying. Her friends were as supportive and amazing as she went through her entire journey it warmed my heart, every girl deserves a tribe like that.
Now, to Mr. Atticus. Woof woof, everything I wanted him to be, down to Earth kind of guy that knew what he wanted and he went for it, no beating around the bush, cutting to the chase, you know the drill. Dreamy? HELL YES. And what rendered me speechless was his continuing support to Kinsley and how he wanted her to be as happy and comfortable as possible. That’s the difference between a boy and a man!
Congrats, J.B. I really enjoyed it and I can’t freaking wait for the next one, if you’ll have me! Your writing is refreshing, witty and funny and I wish you nothing but the best! <3
