It all started at a dinner party. . .
A domestic suspense debut about a young couple and their apparently friendly neighbors—a twisty, rollercoaster ride of lies, betrayal, and the secrets between husbands and wives. . .
Anne and Marco Conti seem to have it all—a loving relationship, a wonderful home, and their beautiful baby, Cora. But one night, when they are at a dinner party next door, a terrible crime is committed. Suspicion immediately lands on the parents. But the truth is a much more complicated story.
Inside the curtained house, an unsettling account of what actually happened unfolds. Detective Rasbach knows that the panicked couple is hiding something. Both Anne and Marco soon discover that the other is keeping secrets, secrets they’ve kept for years.
What follows is the nerve-racking unraveling of a family—a chilling tale of deception, duplicity, and unfaithfulness that will keep you breathless until the final shocking twist.

Did not finish
I like it, but the ending was a little disappointing.
This book deserves an award. I have been recommending this book even before i finished reading chapter 1. The book kept me from page 1. The suspense begins and ends on a high.
i loved this book. Brilliantly written, Captivating, Hands down, Excellent.
Brilliant author.
Thank you Shari Lapena and thanks to that tourist lady i saw by the poolside at Sandals Hotel, Montego Bay, Jamaica, who could barely put the book down to get something to eat.
she was so enthusiastic when i went over and asked her about the book. Smiles 🙂

Meh. I wanted more background info on some characters and kind of figured the ending out before its time. I didn’t hate it but I also don’t think I’ll read it again.
Just when you think you’ve figured it out…
Loved it! Kept me glued to my seat flipping pages.
Laughably bad and cliche.
I had a hard time putting this book down without finishing it all the way. I would pick it up and read a chapter with any time I had. It was very suspenseful and unpredictable. I’m am starting out in the reading world and needed something to keep my attention. This definitely did just that.
An exceptionally easy-to-read, fast-paced thriller that would be perfect as a summertime, beach read.
A mystery that keeps you reading through the night.
This book grabbed me from the very beginning, it’s filled with twists and turns that you didn’t see coming! I love a book that can keep you in the edge of your seat guessing what will happen next and each time you think that youve figured it out, it twists again.
This book is about secrets and lies and you don’t know who to trust. This is the second book that I’ve read from this author and I am not disappointed!
A domestic thriller that features several families in a fairly close-knit neighborhood. Shari Lapena has a knack for writing fast-paced plot-oriented thrillers. Chapters move at a clipped pace, and she is thrifty when it comes to descriptive narrative.
The prologue of Someone We Know opens with a brutal murder. In the first chapter, the protagonist, Olivia Sharpe, learns that her son is breaking into their neighbor’s homes. Like Lapena’s other thrillers, we are off and running in the very first sentences of her story, it is, to use a tired cliche, mind candy. Chapters end how they should, on cliff-hangers, compelling the reader to move onto the next scene. Someone We Know is a very plot-heavy read; she spends little time in character reflection. It is almost as if the characters are chess pieces, and we the readers wonder what the next move will be.
I enjoyed reading Someone We Know, but I was able to figure out who the killer was before the final reveal. After reading so many thrillers, you come to understand that the killer is never the characters who are spotlighted. Like her previous thrillers, Lapena gives us her signature ending, leaving a thread of unfinished business for the reader to ponder
Fast moving, interesting. People keep getting deeper in trouble each chapter. I like this author.
Excellent story- I couldn’t put it down! The ending was so shocking, I could never have predicted it myself. Definitely a psychological thriller. Not for the faint of heart. Highly recommended.
I really enjoy this author.
Love this book, couldn’t put it down..you will love it!
Love Shari Lapena.
Finished this book in a day and a half! COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN
A great novel. While writing my novel, DARKNESS ON THE HORIZON I started reading a lot more books. I wanted to learn more about the craft of writing by reading good books I loved or the bad books I forced myself to finish. THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR is one of the books I loved. Well-written. Entertaining and a bit of a page-turner. A few moments were predictable. And I would have altered the ending slightly. But overall, it was a great book.
Even though you can figure things out early in the book, everything gets a bit more complicated and keeps you wondering. Not the greatest book I’ve ever read, but entertaining.
