#1 New York Times bestselling author Robyn Carr delivers an emotional and triumphant novel about the fierce power of a mother’s love.A summer rental, a new beginning… guardian to a five-year-old named Noah. With no experience at motherhood, she’s terrified she’s not up to the challenge. She and Noah need time to get to know each other, so she decides to rent a country house with stunning views on a lake in rural Colorado.
When they arrive at the house, they are greeted by the owner, a handsome man who promises to stay out of their way. But his clumsy Great Dane, Romeo, has other ideas and Noah immediately bonds with the lovable dog. As Hannah learns to become a mother, Owen Abrams, who is recovering from his own grief, can’t help but be drawn out of his solitude by his guests.
But life throws more challenges at this unlikely trio and they are tested in ways they never thought possible. All three will discover their strengths and, despite their differences, they will fight to become a family. And the people of Sullivan’s Crossing will rally around them to offer all of the support they need.

ROBYN CARR CAN WRITE HEARTWARMING STORIES THAT TOUCH THE HEART!
When Hannah’s friend unexpectedly dies and leaves her as guardian to a young boy with disabilities, it brings about a cosmic change in her life.
Knowing they both need time away to recover from the loss and to become comfortable with each other, Hannah books a vacation in a remote cabin on a lake, but when they arrive it’s to find the owner ensconced in the barn.
Noah enjoys the solitude of his beautiful home when he’s not travelling as a professional photographer. He doesn’t mind renting the cabin out when he’s gone, though it can be inconvenient when his plans change. Like now.
He can’t help but like the engaging child who shows up on his doorstep, and his guardian… she’s pretty special, too.
Sullivan’s Crossing is portrayed as the perfect place to unwind from life’s hassles; the characters are engaging, the setting idyllic, there’s romance and a goofy Great Dane- what’s not to love?
I give The Country Guesthouse 4 lovely kisses- written like a warm breeze on a summer’s day; enjoyable!
“I voluntarily read an ARC of this book which was provided by the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.”
There’s nothing better than being able to stay up until you read one more page, one more chapter, oh I’m at the end of the book. Robyn Carr writes a beautiful story, real characters, a unputdownable book. Loved…loved….loved it!
I am a voracious reader, but I have a policy of only writing a review if I can honestly give a book five stars. Point being, I read a lot more books than I actually review, though I don’t always have time to get reviews up for even some of the ones I love.
But this book…Wow! Have you ever had a really rough week, sat down with a book just to take your mind off things and realized that it was exactly the book you really needed/wanted/loved at this particular point in time? Granted, I’m a huge fan of Robyn Carr’s. I first discovered her when Virgin River came out. I’ve bought every book since, and I think I’ve managed to collect most of her backlist, but every time I read a new release, I’m amazed by her ability to take me into the story to the point where I KNOW these characters—they’ve got to be real people with real lives, because nothing about any of them—main characters or secondary—ever rings false.
The premise of the story is relatively simple—Hannah, a single career woman just coming off a broken engagement suddenly becomes the guardian of her best friend’s five year old son, orphaned when his mother dies. Noah is such a wonderfully developed child character—smart and funny, and very sweet. He has a mild form of cerebral palsy and walks with crutches, but it doesn’t slow him down. Wanting time away from work in order to focus on Noah and help him through the pain of losing his mother, Hannah books a couple of weeks at a rental property in Sullivan’s Crossing, a place where she’d stayed once before.
The owner of the property, professional photographer Owen Abrams, had expected to be away on business, but a cancelled trip means he’ll be on the premises, living in his on-site studio with his Great Dane, Romeo, while Hannah and Noah stay in the main house.
Owen and Hannah have no plans to interact, but Noah and Romeo bond so completely that the two adults find themselves spending more and more time together with the little boy and the huge dog. The two week visit is extended, and watching Owen and Hannah navigate an unexpected romance while helping Noah adjust to the trauma of losing his mother is an unbelievably sweet and tender tale. When I finished it, I sat there grinning for the longest time, and then I went back to the beginning and read it all over again.
As always with Robyn’s books, I highly recommend this one. It really is a “feel good” book, just as good the second read through as it was the first.
I loved this story. Well written with wonderful characters.
I love this series and The Country Guesthouse was another wonderful story! Past characters make an appearance in this story and we tag along on Hannah’s, Owen’s and Noah’s journey. It’s a story about loss, love, family, dogs and a little bit of suspense. Robyn Carr knows how to weave a story!
I enjoyed reading this book. I always enjoy happy endings!
Another great book my Robyn Carr.
I loved the characters and the way they all came together. Great story of a tragedy turning into a triumph. Wonderful read.
Example of Robyn Carr’s best!
Robyn Carr’s Sullivan’s Crossing books are amazing reads and The Country Guesthouse kept me intrigued throughout the audiobook I borrowed from my library!
The main characters, Hannah, Owen and Noah became a man-made family due to their individual circumstances, even though there were complications by other people! When Noah, a boy with a mild case of cerebral palsy, mother dies, Hannah then becomes his guardian and mother figure through a will by his deceased mother! Hannah rents a house on Sullivan’s Crossing so she and Noah can get better acquainted to their new life together. In the process they meet the owner of the house, Owen and his great Dane, Romeo. The bond between the three people and lovable dog is so rewarding to listen to! Of course, there is also turmoil due to the deceased mother’s estranged family who bring havoc to the three main characters.
Robyn Carr sure can write amazing stories that always keep me intrigued till the very end of the book.
