With Sasha as the proclaimed Mage of high ranking power, she can’t just slip under the carpet to a peaceful existance. Instead, she must present herself to the Council, a group of white mages who reside over the magical community, governing Stefan’s people. There she must prove she has … people. There she must prove she has what it takes to be the mage of Stefan’s clan, not something easily done.
Stefan, too, has been noticed by the large faction of rulers. An alpha leader with a firm hold over his people, he has outgrown in his position, and it shows. Ties to a human mage with a vast well of power, though, has made him a target. Sasha is sought after, and those who want to harness her power will take her by force if necessary.
With Dominicous’ and Toa’s help, Sasha and Stefan must face the trials coming up. Proving themselves is the easy part. Getting out with their lives becomes the challenge.

‘The Council’ is book five in K.F Breene’s Darkness series. This story continues on from ‘Demons’. Highly Recommend previous books are reading prior to this.
Since the moment Sasha saw the “invincible” man under the lamppost her life has been a series of events. Her life has been threatened more than once, she’s been kidnapped, and almost died multiple times. But now it’s time for her most difficult hurdle yet, she has gone to see the Council, where she will have to undergo challenges to test her power, strength and endurance. But this time Stefan can’t help her as he will have to under go his own challenges. Will they be able to survive and make it out in one piece.
Holy Moly!!! I am seriously in LOVE with this series, it just keeps getting better and better… What a roller coaster this book was so much happening.
Watching the guys go all mushy over a child people at the Mansion was so cute, Charles being in his element, but the biggest surprise was Jonas, he was precious with Aurora (Jen one of the witches daughter). Then the challenges were rough, but I had to laugh when Stefan and Dom saw the end results of Sasha’s red razor wind spell for her first challenge. But the hardest thing was the end of the battle with Sasha in the spell circle, omg that had my heart breaking, watching Charles and Jonas struggling . I can’t give too much details as it will spoil the biggest plot and twists.
But watching Sasha coming into turns of her role and powers was awe inspiring she has come out of her cocoon and what a beautiful sight it is. The shy timid human is no more she is kicking butt. The bonds between all the characters are getting stronger and stronger and I’m loving the dynamic between all. Charles continues to be the fun loveable best friend, Jonas has a sense of humour (I know shock), Ann the shifter BFF is spunky and determined to not let the man control her or Sasha, Stefan is drool worthy, strong, sexy as sin and total over protective of his mate.
I want to write so much more but I’m afraid of revealing spoilers so I’m going to end it here and go read ‘Shadow Watcher’.
FYI recommended for mature readings as it contains intimate scenes.
This is book 5 in the Darkness series and again it was another fantastic read. Follows straight on from book 4 , this time Stefan and Sasha have to go and face The Council, which turns out to be quite a feat! Brilliant storyline and great interaction between the characters, really loved it and couldn’t put it down, straight on to book 6 for me next, yay!
I’ve been dreading Stefan, Sasha & co meeting The Council & I was right to worry!! A couple of fascinating characters were introduced that I hope we’ll meet again & I continue to adore the ‘human witches’!!
This book is full of tension, treachery, love, fear, friendships & families. With all that these emotions unleash you are sure to love the wild ride you’ll be taken on during this book.
It’s a great read, I couldn’t put it down!! I’m so enamoured by this series. I love the light & shade that the author brings to the characters within the stories she weaves. I think it’s a great addition to the ‘Darkness’ series that I highly recommend.
