Years after betraying her, he’s back in Haven Point…and ready to learn the truthMegan Hamilton never really liked Elliot Bailey. He turned his back on her family when they needed him the most and it almost tore them all apart. So she’s shocked when Elliot arrives at her family’s inn, needing a place to stay and asking questions that dredge up the past. Megan will rent him a cottage, but that’s … him a cottage, but that’s where it ends—no matter how gorgeous Elliot has become.
Coming back home to Haven Point was the last thing bestselling writer Elliot Bailey thought he’d ever do. But the book he’s writing now is his most personal one yet and it’s drawn him back to the woman he can’t get out of his mind. Seeing Megan again is harder than he expected and it brings up feelings he’d thought were long buried. Could this be his chance to win over his first love?

Megan and Elliot are thrown together because of his sister’s, her bff’s, wedding party. Elliot has rented the cabin next door to Megan so he can work on his next book. Megan always felt Elliot never liked her but the opposite was true. He’d secretly been in love with her before she dated his younger brother. Elliot, oh man he’s a tall drink of water on a hot humid day! Though he tries to avoid Megan they’re thrown together left and right and their chemistry is explosive. Megan has always wanted to venture away from Haven Point but has been unable to due to taking over her family’s inn. She’s caring, creative, determined and independent.
This story was fun and fast paced and I enjoyed the “will they? won’t they?” back and forth through the story. If you enjoy a slow burning, sweet romance that will keep you enthralled from beginning to end then I highly recommend reading The Cottages on Silver Beach!
I really liked how this book unfolded. Loved Megan and Eliot’s journey as they got to know each other again. I always enjoy RaeAnne ‘s books. She has a way of tugging on your heartstrings.
This is a good read. I loved Elliot and Megan’s story. Megan has had a lot of things to overcome in her lifetime. Elliot is socially inept but career oriented. That orientation leads to him solving what happened to his best friend’s missing wife. It paves the way for Megan and him to finally admit their attraction to each other.
Another fabulous book in the Haven Point series. I can easily say that this is my favorite. For me this book was very hard to put down. You will fall in love with the characters. I would definitely recommend this book!!
This FBI Agent, Elliot Bailey, and Inn owner, Meghan Hamilton’s book. Elliot is in town for his baby sister, Katrina’s, wedding reception after a small destination wedding. He has booked one of the cottage’s at Meghan’s Inn instead of staying with any of his family members. He just has too much going on, that he doesn’t want to discuss right now, to stay with any of them.
If Meghan had known it was Elliot Bailey reserving a cottage she would have come up with some reason not to rent to him. The man gets under her skin, “Mr. Roboto,” as she and his sisters called him. Even when she was practically engaged to his brother, Wyatt, he barely acknowledged her presence. Not to mention the elephant in the room, he sided against his friend, her brother, Luke, when his wife Elizabeth disappeared seven years ago.
However, after a kiss when Elliot walked Meghan home when they left the reception there was a shift. She knows it is a mistake. He is looking into Elizabeth’s disappearance but she can only hope he finds solid evidence of what she already knows, Luke is innocent on all fronts. He ask to accompany her on her trip to Hope Springs, Colorado to deliver and help set up her prints for her first showing and all sorts of secrets are revealed and wires get crossed. The both knew this was a bad idea from the beginning but even with raw hearts they can’t see the future with out the other. Then, Elliot disappears and even the FBI calls looking for him.
Great author to follow. She builds great characters and wonderful plots.
Always love this author.
Back at Haven Point for more from a favorite family, the Bailey’s, and re-introduced to Megan Hamilton. We met Megan in a prior Haven Point point book when her families inn burned. The inn has now been refurbished and Megan is in one of the cottages on Silver Beach, on the grounds of The Inn at Haven Point.
Elliot Bailey, decorated FBI agent and best selling author, is in town for his sisters wedding reception. Megan was almost engaged to his brother Wyatt, before he was taken away from her long ago. Wyatt was full of personality. Elliot is serious and solemn. Too bad Elliot made his reservation online. If Megan has spoken to him she may have made excuses as to why he couldn’t stay there. How is she going to avoid him when she is best friends with his sisters?
Is Elliot looking into her brother Luke? Luke’s wife, Elizabeth, went missing years ago and some people think Luke killed her. That was a terrible time for Megan‘s family and she doesn’t want them hurt anymore. Does Luke have unresolved feelings for Megan? Will Megan continue to be suspicious of Luke’s true reasons for being there? Will her family be hurt by Elizabeth’s disappearance being looked into? You will have to read it for yourself to find out.
A very good read. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my voluntary and honest opinion.
I love all her books
I always know I’m in for a well-written, enjoyable, romantic read when I reach for the latest RaeAnne Thayne book. She is a must-read author for me. I love her talent for creating homey, small-town communities populated with endearing and lovable characters. The Cottages on Silver Beach features Elliot Bailey and Megan Hamilton who are thrown together after years of not seeing each other. Sparks fly as Elliot involves himself in a mystery surrounding Megan’s brother Luke. This book is a delectable combination of intrigue and romance sure to delight those who enjoy clean and wholesome stories. It is part of a series but can easily be read as a stand-alone book. Characters from previous books in the series make appearances in this one, which adds to the fun and enjoyment.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from the publisher/author/NetGalley. I was not required to post a review. All opinions are my own.
This is a GREAT continuation of the series. I think it’s one of my favorite books of hers to date. (And I’ve read MANY! lol) After watching the rest of the Bailey children get married it’s time for the elusive eldest brother, Elliott. Megan Hamilton, whom we met in the first book when her Inn burns down, FINALLY gets her HEA!!! We have watched them circling each other for years but obstacles prohibit their being in the same place at the same time in the “right” frame of mind. For one, she dated his deceased brother years ago, and for another her brother Luke was Elliott’s former BFF, and was accused of murdering his wife when she disappeared 7 years ago and everyone thinks he did it, including Elliott. The bit of mystery and intrigue, is not only a solid addition to the series but helps propel the story forwards and the reader engaged. I truly think this is one of RaeAnne’s best books!
The Cottages on Silver Beach is the latest addition to the Haven Point series and truly one of my favorites of the series. There is a little mystery mixed in with the wonderful slow building romance between Elliot and Megan. Family issues and past hurts make their relationship improbable but sometimes the heart just wants what it wants and you have to take a chance. This could be the only chance Elliot and Megan have to put the past to rest and find their future together. A future they both desperately want.
I highly recommend this one.
The way that Ms. Thayne writes characters is so captivating! When I get to the end of a book, my first reaction is, “Nooooooo, that can’t be the end!” That was definitely the reaction I had with this book. Megan and Elliot are star-crossed lovers from the get-go. I wont write any spoilers as to the history they had in the past but as the book begins, they are once again, put in close proximity and must deal with it. They are older and wiser and although they’ve never been a couple, they’ve definitely had feelings for each other but this time, their worlds are very messy and they can’t get involved…yeah, right! Elliot is healing from an injury he sustained in the FBI but he’s also a true crime writer so he’s going to focus on that while he recuperates. Megan’s family is still dealing with her brother’s wife who has been missing for 7 years and that has effected all of them for that long, plus Megan and her brother have a painful past to deal with on top of it!
I really liked the development of the characters, the emotional investment I had in them as they went through their ups and downs in the story. I felt like I was right there with them through the whole book. RaeAnne is a master at this – character development, emotions, using past characters to enhance the stories….it adds up to a fantastic book that leaves you wanting more and more about the lives of these characters! I highly recommend this book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, however the opinion is my own.
I love Haven Point. The quaint town, the wonderful neighbors, and the beautiful setting. Yet, the neighbors have secrets. They have secret loves, hates, and just plain old secrets. This is the story of Megan and Elliot. Megan has secretly always felt a pull towards Elliot even when she was dating his brother and when he was investigating her brother for murder. Elliot had purposely stayed away from Megan because he couldn’t trust his feelings. Now they are both in Haven Point, actually, they are truly neighbors and the pull between them is stronger than ever.
While the romance is a focus of the story, the investigation into Megan’s brother’s wife disappearance is just as entertaining. I did read some of the other books in the series so I had a good understanding of what was happening and who was being accused of what but it was fun to catch up on what was going on and see Elliot work to find out the entire truth. I am hoping that this storyline will continue in future books and the reader will find out more about the truth.
The Cottages on Silver Beach is a part of a series. The characters continue throughout the series, some of the storylines are mentioned but each is a stand-alone story. They can be read in any order without losing any of the charm of Haven Point.
The Cottages on Silver Beach is the eighth book in the Haven Point series. The story sucked me right in. I loved Megan and Elliot’s story. This is one of those can’t-put-down books. I highly recommend it!
RaeAnne Thayne speaks to the heart of her readers extracting emotion and joy. The Cottages at Silver Beach is an exceptional edition to the Haven Point series. Main characters Eliott Bailey and Megan Hamilton are well-developed, likable characters. It was a joy reading this novel. The language and writing were soothing. I actually could feel the comfort of being Lake Haven. Loved the descriptions of Megan’s photographs. The mystery of Elizabeth’s disappearance added an element of mystery not noted in previous books in the series. This series especially this edition will appeal to fans of Debbie Macomber books. I especially loved the mixing of the plot and characters from the Haven Point series with characters in the Hope’s Crossing series. It was fun to read references to places like Cafe of Hope and the bead shop. Reading Cottages at Silver Beach made me happy! Anxious to read about Luke and Elizabeth’s story in the next book in the series.
I know when I pick up a RaeAnne Thayne book that I am going to love the story. The Cottages on Silver Beach does it (again) for me! My take on the background of the story (and I have read all the Haven Point books but this is from a standalone point of view) is that Elliot Bailey is severely misunderstood – by his family, by his friends, and by just about everyone who has known or currently knows him. He “goes back home” to Haven Point, and shows up at Megan Hamilton’s inn, for an extended stay. Megan wonders why her inn, of all places, but it seems Elliot has some secrets.
There are bad feelings and history between Elliot and Megan’s brother and I think that the real story behind them are a part of what makes Elliot…hurt, for lack of a better word. Add in his buried feelings for Megan – you’ll have to read about how and when they came about! – and you get a terrific, loving story. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of deep hurts and feelings to be dealt with. It seems most of the characters have a wound that needs the Band-Aid ripped off, imho. As always, Ms. Thayne deals with the intricate and delicate feelings of the characters in such a way as to deliver another wonderful story.
I always want to smile and sigh when I finish. Smile because I loved the book and sigh because it is over. I recommend. I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
