Years after betraying her, he’s back in Haven Point…and ready to learn the truthMegan Hamilton never really liked Elliot Bailey. He turned his back on her family when they needed him the most and it almost tore them all apart. So she’s shocked when Elliot arrives at her family’s inn, needing a place to stay and asking questions that dredge up the past. Megan will rent him a cottage, but that’s … him a cottage, but that’s where it ends—no matter how gorgeous Elliot has become.
Coming back home to Haven Point was the last thing bestselling writer Elliot Bailey thought he’d ever do. But the book he’s writing now is his most personal one yet and it’s drawn him back to the woman he can’t get out of his mind. Seeing Megan again is harder than he expected and it brings up feelings he’d thought were long buried. Could this be his chance to win over his first love?

Mysteriously intriguing! I’m used to a heartwarming love story enriched by close knit families and community when I pick up one of RaeAnne Thayne’s delightful Haven Point novels, and I received that once again with this latest book … but I also received a mystery! Much-loved by the town Megan finds herself drawn to returning Elliot, but his insistence to stir up something that has been painful to her family for many years just might stop her attraction cold! Great characters, a town we already love and this added mystery to the plot gave it a real pull. SO looking forward to Luke’s story!!
Inn owner Megan Hamilton has a personality that makes her a favorite of just about anyone she meets, but for some reason she’s always felt like Elliot didn’t care for her. When they’ve been around her in the past, he’s always come off as stand-offish. He once was in a position to help a her family with a crucial matter, but instead turned his back and believed speculation over them. She’s not overly happy to see him pop up at her inn looking for a place to stay while he’s in town for a few weeks.
FBI agent and bestselling author Elliot Bailey plays his cards close to his vest, and the reason he keeps Megan at a distance is because he’s secretly been crushing on her for years. This opportunity of being close by for a few weeks just might be his chance to see if she returns his interest at all, but when he starts looking into a matter that she wishes would stay buried, it could stir up more trouble than he’s looking for!
4.5 stars
Another amazing story in the Haven Point series. I just cannot get enough of this town and the people who live there. We never really get to know Elliot in the other stories since he lives out-of-state, but we know of him through the rest of the Bailey family. As for Megan, she was in the very first book in this series since it was her inn that burned down. Poor thing.
I really love how both Megan and Elliot think the other doesn’t like them. They’ve always been so aware of each other that they would get awkward whenever they found themselves at the same social events. It was actually pretty sweet. On top of all of that, Elliot used to be great friends with Megan’s brother and she feels he turned his back on Luke when Luke needed him most. So, although Megan has always been intrigued and attracted to Elliot, she also doesn’t like him very much…or at least she thinks she doesn’t. Since Elliot plays everything so close to the vest, she doesn’t really know him very well.
As much as I adore Elliot, there was one thing that annoyed me. When it came to his looking into the cold case of the disappearance of Luke’s wife, he didn’t seem to have a firm understanding of what postpartum depression is. It annoyed me that he seemed so stuck on the idea that she was a sweet and happy person. You would think a FBI agent would have some sort of idea about the psychology of depression…post-partum and otherwise.
Megan is amazing, too. She stands by her brother no matter what and has been invaluable in helping him raise his kids since their mom left…or whatever happened to her. But she is like a dog with a bone sometimes and it could get a bit wearing. She jumped to a lot of conclusions. Where I think Elliot often jumped to conclusions, he usually realized almost immediately that he was reacting before thinking things through. Megan never really would admit when she overreacted.
Regardless, I love Megan and Elliot as a couple. They really compliment each other well so fit together like perfect puzzle pieces. I can’t even tell you how much of this story I spent with warm-fuzzies. I really couldn’t put it down.
Just so you know, although a lot of answers are given in this book there are still a lot of questions. I’m really chomping at the bit to read about Luke and get the whole story of his wife’s disappearance all those years ago.

RaeAnne Thayne is always good reading and the Cottages On Silver Beach doesn’t disappoint. The mystery is cleverly inserted into the romance and while there is a lovely happy-ever-after to the book, the ending also points to a follow-up book with a question I’m dying to know the answer to. This is a stand-alone book. But it’s fun to read the others and know all the peripheral players. The Cottages On Silver Beach releases June 19 in all formats.
Innkeeper Megan Hamilton’s always thought the Bailey’s were the ideal family. But the eldest son, Elliot had always been a prickle point for her. And the prickle point became a burr when FBI agent Elliot refused to believe her brother Luke was innocent of murder when Luke wife disappeared seven years ago.
For seven years Megan put aside her dreams to help Luke care for his two children and tend to the Inn her grandmother entrusted to her. But now her dreams are getting a new lease on life with a planned exhibit of her photographs at a prestigious gallery in Colorado. Only guess who’s back in Haven Point and renting the cottage next to hers?
Back home was the last place “temporarily” retired FBI agent/ bestselling writer Elliot Bailey ever thought he’d be. But his sister Kat is celebrating her wedding and he needs a place to recuperate from the raid that might have cost him his job. Elliot had no idea that the woman he’d never been able to get out of his mind would be living next door. But he needs this space, far away enough from his loving inquisitive family to finish his overdue book. If only he could stop thinking about Megan.
Megan needs to concentrate all her efforts on getting ready for the fine-art photograph exhibit. But her taciturn enigmatic neighbor keeps pulling her thoughts away.
When Elliot decides to follow up on a clue to her sister-in-law, Elizabeth’s disappearance she and Elliot become involved in a tug-of-war between distrust and their magnetic attraction to one another.
Another great romance by RaeAnne Thayne. I’ll be honest, when we met Megan Hamilton in the first book, Snow Angel Cove, I thought she was a middle aged woman in her mid 40s. So I was rather surprised that she is actually 31. I’m glad she was, as that’s the same age as me, so it was easy for me to understand Megan and her place in life.
Turns out she hasn’t always wanted to be the owner and manager of an Inn. She wanted to travel the world and be a photographer for National Geographic but tragic events in her family made her feel the need to stay home and take care of her family. I believe this showed us what kind of woman she is.
Elliot Bailey is practically a new character. He’s been mentioned in other books but we haven’t really met him since he lives in Denver and works for the FBI. He’s a very stern and solem man. He rarely let’s his guard down and his emotions show. Except around Megan. And it turns out that he’s been in love with Megan for years.
“Someday he would like to kiss her when the moment was exactly right. But he didn’t really need perfection. He would kiss her in a hurricane if it meant he could taste her again.”
Their romance balances on the edge of thin line. That line being the back story of her brother possibly murdering his wife. Megan and Elliot end up going on a road trip to Hope’s Crossing (another setting of another of Ms. Thayne’s series’). Part of the reason for the road trip is to find out what happened to the missing sister-in-law. I won’t give any more details, but it was a nice mystery to have in the story along with the romance!
This book was a 4.5 for me. I really enjoyed it but there are several of her books that I’ve liked better.
As always, this is a clean romance with no sex scenes. There’s a couple of kissing scenes but they aren’t very detailed. There are a few swear words used, maybe 3 or 4 times.
My first thought with this book was that it was kind of a departure for Ms. Thayne. One of the main characters, Elliott, is an FBI agent. What? Wait a minute! Okay, here we go…we’ve got attraction between Elliott and the woman running the inn. Elliott and Megan (kind-of, sort-of) have a past together. No romantic relationship, but a past none the less. And there is definite attraction, no matter how much Megan wants to deny it. Now we’re back in normal territory for a RaeAnne Thayne book. Then…she throws in the mystery of Megan’s missing sister-in-law and did Megan’s brother kill his wife??? Another curve.
If you’re getting my drift here, it appears that Ms. Thayne is throwing in some suspense with her awesome romance story. The romance was pretty slow to develop, but the characters definitely had issues with each other, so that was totally understandable. The book was awesome as are all of Ms. Thayne’s, and if you like more to your books that just romance…this will be a terrific pick for you! She did a great job of mixing the romance and mystery!
The Haven Point series has become one of those saga’s that I get excited just knowing there is a book from it waiting for me at my TBR list. The stories are well written with a smooth flow and are filled with intriguing characters, living in the small town, love for family and friends, and the sweetest, kindest, most tender, and clean romance stories that always manages to make me smile and sigh. The Cottages on Silver Beach is an uplifting story about forgiveness, daring to open your heart to love, and encouraging to follow our dreams, where ever they might take us.
Elliot Bailey is the perfect mix of serious, straight-laced FBI agent and endearing, caring, protective man who is used to hide his feelings, to take care of others. He has a deep, dry sense of humor, as deep as his sense of duty. He has passion, fierceness, and the ability to see the details, to pay attention, and will do anything in his power to make the people he cares about happy and content. I just adored him and his feelings for Megan Hamilton were so deep-rooted they took my breath away.
Megan’s relationship to Elliot had always been a bit awkward. And after Elisabeth, Megan’s troubled sister in law vanished without a trace, Megan felt that Elliot turned his back on her family for not blindly trusting Megan’s brother’s innocence. I thought that was a very tricky situation, there was a lot of obstacles in the way for Megan and Elliot to be able to make it, a serious amount of work to be done for a relationship to work between them.
And I loved how they talked so much, how they had the opportunity for those long, meaningful conversations that people need to go through, to get to truly know each other. The feelings they had for each other were palpable, the connection was obvious, and I loved the chemistry between Megan and Elliot. There were several moments that made me smile, rooting for those two to find a solution in the very sensitive situation.
Because of the disappearance of Elisabeth played such a big role in the story and the little open-ended, happy for now, ending of the book, I felt like this story was a prelude to the next one, laying down the groundwork for what is to come, and not hitting all the deep, raw, angsty emotions it could have had. But despite that, or maybe because of that, this is perfect summer reading – a story that will make you smile, will warm your heart, and eagerly look forward to the next installation in the series. Addictive and endearing, sweet and tender, suitable for all ages

We return to Haven’s Point to get to know Elliot Bailey and Megan Hamilton’s story. Elliot is the brother of Wyatt, Marshall and Wyn Bailey all of whom we’re met and fell in love with so far in this series. We also get to catch up with all the previous characters of Haven’s Point and find out what they’ve all been up to. This is a typical Raeanne Thayne story of small town love, wonderful neighbors and some ups and downs of every day life. While I love all of this author’s books and have read them all, this one didn’t wow me out like the previous ones in this series have. The story line didn’t grab me as others have. I enjoyed the book okay but it has a bit of a cliffhanger in it regarding Megan’s brother. It’s a big cliffhanger and I’m not a fan of those. Having said all that, this is an enjoyable story and I look forward to the next one as always.
I just finished RaeAnne Thayne’s new book THE COTTAGES ON SILVER BEACH. Loved it! As always, RaeAnne characters are so likable you can’t help root for them. Her books are sweet romance at its best and it’s so nice to be able to read an author knowing you aren’t going to be embarrassed or offended. Thanks, RaeAnne.
I received this book by RaeAnne Thayne in a giveaway not knowing it was part of a series. I enjoyed it so much I’m anxious to catch up on the earlier books in the series. It is the perfect summer read – a little romance, some mystery and a beautiful setting.
Sweet romance with a side of mystery. I love the characters of Haven Point. Enjoyed getting to know Elliot, the hunky FBI agent and Meagan who has secrets of her own. Great feel good story to curl up with.
Beautiful story. Loved getting to meet Elliot Bailey at last.
Always a fan of this author. Love her books
Beautiful story and I didn’t want it to end. Great job!!!!
If I could give this book six stars, I would!
Great book
THIS BOOK NEEDS A SEQUEL!! !! !
This was a great, sweet hometown romance. Perfect thing to curl up with on a stormy night while I sipped some hot tea 🙂
A good book to take to the beach. Sweet and happy .
I loved the two main characters, Megan and Elliot. Though I had my doubts about Elliot to begin with as his stubbornness gets in his way. Megan also appeared unsure of herself. But their lives have obviously been entwined for years and it takes them a long time to discover how. Once they figure it out, it is time for a large family happily ever after!
Fantastic story about Megan and Elliot. I love to read about Haven Point and the people who live there. This is book number eight in the series by RaeAnne Thayne. She does a tremendous job of making you feel a part of the story. I started reading it and just couldn’t put it down, laughing and crying along the way. You feel like you know these characters and would enjoy having them as friends. It was also fun to have the interaction with Hope’s Crossing, another of my favorite series by her. Can’t wait to read the newest one in the series and I’m hoping to read more about Megan’s brother Luke.
