A pirate doesn’t ask for permission – he takes. When I see the delicate human female collared and enslaved by the smuggler I’m about to swindle, I do what any male would do. I take her from him. It’s what I do best, after all.Now Fran’s mine, and I’m never giving her up. On board my spaceship, she’ll be safe. She’ll wear my clothes, eat my food, and sleep in my bed. I’ll keep her safe from a … keep her safe from a galaxy that wishes her harm. But my sweet Fran wants nothing more than to return to Earth. How can I take her home when she holds my heart in her dainty, five-fingered hands?
This story stands completely alone and is only marginally connected to the Ice Planet Barbarians series and Prison Planet Barbarian. You do not need to read those books in order to follow this one.

4.5 stars.
I really enjoy Ruby Dixon’s Mesakkah Universe multi-series, but don’t ask me which one I like best because I love them all! But if I had to pick my fav Mesakkah character, it has to be Kivian, the hero of this story.
Fran is the luckless Human to have been abducted by aliens. Kivian is the Mesakkah pirate who decides an annoying Ooli doesn’t deserve to have her and takes her for himself, knowing full well that this female is his destined mate. And that’s one of the things I appreciate about how Ms. Dixon addresses this “love at first sight”. I’m all for it because in our world, for guys, this is more the case than it is for women because women doesn’t determine suitable mates on a visceral level as much as guys do. Women base decisions on who will be able to support her and her children adequately, generally speaking. As for Kivian, it’s instinctual like Human males but even more than that. I appreciate Kivian’s honesty about his possessiveness which is unusual when dealing with issues and individuals other than Fran. But, like one of my more favorite characters in S.J. Sanders’ Mate Index, I love his over-the-top antics as the silly pirate who dresses extreme-flamboyantly! I’m still trying to visualize his shirts which are more complicated than any Regency cravat.
Yes, you can tell that this is just the beginning of a series involving the entire crew of the Dancing Fool. (I wanna space ship by this name!!) And, of course, I have purchased the entirety of this series. I highly advise that you do, too!
The Corsair’s Captive (Corsairs #1) by Ruby Dixon is a sci fi romance story and another exciting series. It is a fun, witty and sweet read as we adventure along with these space pirates.
Kivian is a horned blue devil like the other barbarians but he is so much fun and his inner thoughts had me laughing out loud. The man loved to dress even when others considered it ridiculous. I love that the story is told in several POV. When he comes across a beautiful human named Fran who has been kidnapped, been sold as slave and treated like an animal, he knows she will become his everything but he must gain her trust and treat her like the precious jewel she is.
What is it about big blue aliens that come off sexy to me? Yes been a fan of Author Ruby Dixon for a while now, her alien series got me hooked and I’ve been reading her work ever since, love this installment, can’t wait to read the next.
Arrgg matee!
I liked this book for a couple of reasons.
One, Fran the h was no shrinking violet. No matter what emotion she was feeling on the inside, on the outside she put up a strong front. She only let her emotions break twice. (with good reasons)
Two, Kivian, so far, he’s my absolute favorite personality. He’s witty, sexy.cocky yet, easygoing.
I love how he took the time to get to know her, i’m glad the sleeping naked think backfired on him though
Three, the character and world building were good.
I would definitely recomend this book.
I really liked this story. It’s very entertaining. The characters are interesting and relatable. There are a lot of feels.
Kivian is a pirate and pirates don’t ask for permission, they take what they want. He sees a human female being kept as a pet by a smuggler he was meeting and decides that he should take her as well as the cargo he came for. Kivian never thought that he’d be drawn to a human but know that he has Fran, he’s going to keep her. He will keep her safe. He just has to get her to agree to stay with him instead of wanting to go home to Earth.
Kivian CRACKS ME UP! There is just something about how irreverent he is and flirty and yet all alpha as well. Fran is snarky and sassy and is a perfect match for Kivian. I liked that their relationship built up over time and they spent that time getting to know each other. The crew laughing at Kivian and Fran trying to figure out their feelings was funny too. I loved their happy ever after. I definitely recommend reading this book! Or listening to it! I own the ebook and I purchased the audible book as well!
This is the first book in a new series by Ruby Dixon and I loved it!!!! I love the idea of Alien pirates. Kivian and Fran are an epic pair. Just like all mesakkah as soon as Kivian sees Fran he knows that she is his mate. The pirate must do what he does best and that is steal. He steals Fran from her capture. Fran is terrified but she never gives up her fight. Once safe on Kivian’s ship they become friends. Kivian gives Fran time to get comfortable with him and I love that. Fran tries to be useful with the crew and I loved seeing her interact with everyone. I love the slow burn of this couple. They are fun and sexy and completely captivating. I enjoyed this so much and I’m so excited for the rest of this series!!! I am hooked on these space pirates. This is a must read!
3 Stars!
RD has done it again. We have been to the IcePlanet, to prison, and now to space. She couldn’t stop there; oh no! She had to make the aliens space pirates that steal from bad guys! I swear, her creativity has no limits.
Other than the concept, I loved the MCs. Kivian was an amazing hero. The way he swooped in and saved Fran – SWOON! And speaking of Fran, she was unbelievably brave. She knew that she was going to be used and abused, but she did not hold back her thoughts. When her and Kivian start their relationship, the chemistry will blow you away!
So why the three stars, Whitney? Well, I feel like this could have been a full length novel. With it being a novella, I feel like Kivian and Fran didn’t get the story they deserved. Some of it felt rushed and forced. Honestly, I truly believe that Ruby even acknowledged it in the Author’s Notes as she hinted that there will be more books following the space pirates as Kivian had a crew that needs mates. She has a problem! She wants every character to have their own story. And while I love that because I get to read more awesome stories, I just don’t want the stories to suffer because of that problem. You feel me?
It is probably not fair to the story that I have rated it 3 stars, but I can’t shake the feeling that this story had more potential. However, that shouldn’t stop you from reading it. Ruby Dixon is the Queen of paranormal romances. You won’t be too disappointed. Promise!

I absolutely love Ruby’s Corsair series. Okay, I might love everything she’s written but the Corsairs are my fave.
It’s been a while since I read this book, but I wanted to recommend Ruby Dixon as an author, so I chose this one. You can’t go wrong reading her books! They are all fun, easy reads. Most don’t have a lot of action necessarily, but the author draws you into the romance that keeps you coming back. Addictive!
Fran and Kivian, did not discover each other in the typical romantic meet-cute fashion. Nope. There was sinister frog man, predictions of slave rape, swindling piracy and heroic turnarounds. Then the real love story happens. I loved this story! The writing is clear and compulsive and Ruby has built characters that you cannot help but love. You should buy this book, start this series, then go ahead and read everything else that Ruby Dixon has out there. Go ahead. You’re welcome.
