Such a great story. I’ve been reading reviews of this book and series for a while but I’ve never decided to start it until just now. What a waste of time to delay reading this book. It is SOOOOOOOO good. These characters are tremendous and so worth the read. Jess and Gigi are perfect together and the drama-filled story is very well written. Amazing must read
~~ 5 “LIVE IT GOOD” STARS! ~~
THE COPPERSMITH FARMHOUSE by Devney Perry, book 1 in her Jamison Valley Series was homespun small-town romance at its best!
This is my first read by the much-lauded Ms. Perry and I see now why fans have gone so gaga over her heart-throbbing novels!! She sure knows how to spin a delightful, down-to-earth romance that captivates from start to finish, all the while interlacing the love story with an undercurrent of suspense that leave you on the edge of your seat!
No words can describe how much LOVE I have in my heart for the ruggedly sexy Sheriff Jess Cleary, feisty ER nurse Georgia “Gigi” Ellars, her adorable little girl Rowen, and the whole close knit community of Prescott, Montana that have each other’s backs through thick and thin!!!
This book is infused with so many warm, fuzzy, swoony emotions and it just made me feel so “effing” good! I laughed, wept, sighed, and reveled throughout.
As far as heroes go, Jess in all his big, brawny, alpha lawman glory just DECIMATED me. The strong, stalwart sheriff has been waiting 34 years to discover his one truelove and when he finds it in Gigi, there’s no stopping him from staking his claim!
The manner in which sweet yet headstrong Gigi loves him right back with every beat of her bleeding heart is just a pure delight! And yet I also admired how she had no problem standing up for herself when the overbearing sheriff got too bossy for his britches!
Gah! These two gorgeously flawed protagonists oozed charm and sheer magic and just made me believe so hard in the spellbinding power of love! The way that Ben, the original owner of the Coppersmith Farmhouse, united these two beautiful MCs together from the great beyond was powerfully profound and shiver inducing!
And while Jess and Gigi had their issues to work out and had plenty of ups and downs—yikes…talk about two strong willed personalities clashing!—there was thankfully not any unnecessary drama that pushed them apart. And I effing relished how they dealt with their problems together as a united front rather than throwing in the towel at the first sign of trouble!
REFRESHING, right?
And Georgia’s daughter, Rowen, affectionately dubbed “little bit” by an adoring Jess was too precious for words!! Sighhhh…every scene with a soft-hearted Jess doting on “his girls” had my ovaries exploding like crazy!
The masterfully crafted plot also has an overarching suspense plot, involving a mysterious crime spree and sinister drug ring, that puts the good citizens of Prescott in grave peril and gives the Sheriff and his deputies a run for their money! There is palpable mounting tension throughout leading up to a chilling climax that’s guaranteed to leave you breathless!
Bottom Line:
THE COPPERSMITH FARMHOUSE just has it all—tantalizing, toe-curling romance, sizzling hot sexy times, fiery discord, juicy small-town drama, heart-tugging emotion and a thrilling undercurrent of danger that keeps your adrenaline pumping!
This book officially solidifies Devney Perry on my auto buy list and I can’t wait to binge the entire Jamison Valley series now!
A MUST READ!
This book is now on my list of favorite books of all time. It holds a coveted spot along with a select few other books.
I read The Coppersmith Farmhouse and thought to myself how can this be the author’s first book. It has the feeling and quality of KA and Coho. This author is a hidden gem and will definitely become an extremely well known as one of the greats!
The writing is stellar, the plot intriguing and captivating! I can’t recommend this book enough.
The Coppersmith Farmhouse was a great read, I felt the book was very well balanced, as it had a little of everything, drama, suspense, and comedy.. it kept me hooked, it kept me intrigued until the end..
Gigi is the new girl in town. an unexpected gift, a farmhouse made her decide to move and start this new adventure with her daughter. but life doesn’t seem that easy once she arrives at The Farmhouse.. people would make assumptions, judge her and miss read her, making her feel not so welcomed.. especially a hot sheriff with a very bad character.. he seems to have a grudge on her.. and she doesn’t even know why?..
Jess is the hot Sheriff in town, alpha, protective and sometimes even a little bit of controlling .. making his first interactions with Gigi very difficult, not only he was a big douche making assumptions, and judging her harshly but he was also angry that she “stole” his dreams.. dreams that with time will transform and bring extra gifts into his life…
I love Jess, he really made me laugh … he is super alpha and protective making him sometimes overbearing but at the same time, his stubbornness made him kind of funny. He makes his own rules and expects everyone to follow, no matter what .. including Gigi…
Gigi was a great heroine, she was strong and fought hard whenever people try to overstep. Her character grew a lot as the story was flowing, in the beginning, she was learning her ropes around town so she was kind of reserved. She had a very bad experience, making her fears to arise in certain situations.. she felt a like an outsider but as soon as people started to know her and saw her true colors everything changed..
Overall the story was good, there are a few twists, with a light dose of drama and suspense, great secondary characters and a lot of sexy steamy scenes..
This was my first book by Devney Perry, looking forward to reading more of her books..
A wonderful start to series that I’m excited to read (can be read as a stand alone). An illuminating introduction to several of the residents of Prescott, Montana, a major character in itself, and of course the main characters of Georgia, Rowen and Jess. This story is engaging and the characters endearing with emotions running the gamut from utter joy to intense apprehension and fear. A bit of everything I enjoy reading and very well put together. A suburb read!
Little moments culminate into those life altering moments. You know the ones…..the little things that lead you down a path you never would have predicted. Moving to Montana to take possession of Ben’s former farmhouse was one of those times for Gigi. It was Ben’s dying wish for Gigi to live in his former home. This was a chance at a new life for Gigi and her daughter. Little did they know that Ben ‘might’ have had an ulterior motive when he bequeathed his farmhouse to the single mom.
Living in Prescott, Montana was everything that Jess wanted in life. The small town feel where everyone knew their neighbors is one of the things that made Jess’s job as Sherriff a little easier. For years, Jess has taken on the responsibilities of looking after Ben’s farmhouse while Ben was away. A task that was near and dear to Jess. With dreams of one day owning the property, Jess was blindsided when learning that Gigi was the new owner of Ben’s former home.
Determined that Gigi must be a ‘gold digger’, Jess formed a lot of preconceived notions about the new girl in town. Ideas that manifested into a bit of anger toward the woman that Jess knew nothing about. Georgia can’t help feeling an attraction to the man that literally grates on her last nerve. A firestorm that brews every time the two get in the same space. What neither could have known was they both were getting a little nudge from beyond the grave. Ben knew that Jess and Georgia were missing something in life…..each other!!
At the recommendation of many – I decided to check out all the hype surrounding The Coppersmith Farmhouse by Devney Perry. With the small town of Prescott, Montana as the backdrop, this story has a somewhat predictable plot between Jess and Gigi. The character that stole the show was Rowen – Gigi’s daughter. A spitfire that added her own depth and originality to a romance novel that was simple and sweet.
While I enjoyed the book, I did foresee a lot of the story unfolding. It didn’t lack in originality, but there were times where I just didn’t think things meshed between Jess and Gigi the way that they should. Now – there were a slew of secondary characters that captured my attention. Jess and Gigi also redeemed themselves as the story progressed. I think I was expecting an over the top romance based on ‘hearsay’ that just didn’t end up that way. While this story was a sweet romance, I think I am interested in a few of the Prescott residents stories that are yet to come.
After reading one of Devney Perry’s other books in the Jamison Valley series, I knew I wanted to go back and catch up and am certainly glad I did. I like Devney’s writing style, and while has been compared to Kristen Ashley, Ms. Perry has her own style and it shines through on this book. Written with lots of suspense and steamy romance, Coppersmith Farmhouse has everything you want in a good read.
This is my fi
I absolutely loved this book! It was a sweet small town love story with a slight edge of mystery. A single mom meets and clashes with the hometown sheriff.
I completely swooned when Jess called Roe “Little Bit”!! That was a pet that name my Dad had called me!!
“Come here, little bit,” Jess said, kneeling down by the dog and reaching out his hand. When he called Roe “little bit,” it warmed my heart. No one except for me, not even Ben, had called her by a pet name. I loved that she had that kind of special affection from Jess.”
I can’t wait to start on the next book by this author. I completely adore her writing and style!
**For a reread, I listened to the audiobook and loved it even more! Perfect narration by Ava Erickson and Joe Arden!!
Acutal Rating 3.80
This was quite an addictive book. I see now why everyone loves Devney Perry so much. Her writing is off the charts amazing. I fell in love with this book within the first two minutes of reading. This book is so addictive, sweet, and gives you all kinds of feels. There was never a dull moment and it definitely keeps you thrilled. The romance was sweet and I did like Georgia and Jess together. Rowen was the cutest little girl ever and all the other characters in this book were also very lovable.
The only thing I didn’t like were aspect of Georgia and Jess’s relationship where he was a little too alpha male and controlling. I wanted Georgia to actually stand her ground when it came to Jess instead of him making demands and her giving in immediately, especially when she complained to him about things he did that she didn’t like. She needed a bit more of a back bone in their relationship. Other than that I really loved this book.
This book has been sitting on my Kindle for sooooo long!!!! And I am now so mad at myself for letting it sit there, so lonely!
I am in love!
Devney is a new author to me, and she has just popped herself right in to my list of highly recommended authors. About halfway through this book, I had already told a few of my friends to add her to their TBR!
Her writing of Georgia is amazing. I immediately felt a real sisterhood to her, having experienced several times in my life; of feeling worthless. Georgia is an incredibly strong character, with a very quick wit. She gave me quite a few laughs throughout the book. Her devotion to her daughter is beautiful and heartwarming.
Jess is completely swoon worthy. A bit of a Neanderthal – but I like that in my male characters! He is a complete jerk when he first meets Georgia, and Devney immediately sucks you in to love him – even when he is a jerk!
Their story of love is gorgeous. The way Devney makes you feel the characters evolution is great writing. I loved how I was reading about more than just Georgia and Jess. You got a real insight into their whole town and their people. She was able to do this, whilst not feeling like it was taking away from the main characters.
I have promptly added all of Devney’s books to my TBR list and bought a couple…. lol.
The Coppersmith Farmhouse is definitely a new favourite for me, and am excited to read more of this series.
A great read. Loved the hot alpha and strong single mom characters. As well as all the supporting characters and can’t wait to dive into their stories. Highly recommend this romantic read with a hint of suspense.
What a wonderful story! I’m so happy someone (most likely on FB) recommended this to lovers of Kristen Ashley books. This definitely has that “feel” and that “cadence” to the writing and the story.
Gigi & Jess get off on the wrong foot due to some misconceptions, but as soon as Jess figures out the reasons he’s being a jerk don’t actually exist, it is ON. He claims his Georgia and in true alpha/caveman style, doesn’t let her pull away. It. Is. Awesome!
I love the pacing of their relationship – even when they have arguments or whatever, for the most part they handle them like ADULTS and there’s no SOB (seemingly obligatory break up) to distract from the story. There is action & there are things outside of their relationship causing issues & needing to be taken care of, all of which are written in a great page-turning manner!
The supporting cast (Gigi’s daughter, Roe, especially) are written well & don’t take over the story, but fit right in & are included enough that we feel like we know them as well as Jess & Gigi. I don’t know if I’ll read book 2 – based on reviews there are some things in that one that are hard no’s for me. Book 3, however, is one I am looking forward to!! : )
I loved this! It was an awesome introduction to the Jamison Valley series. I was exciting while reading, I loved the characters, and the underlying element of suspense. I couldn’t stop smiling because there were just so many wonderful moments mixed in. Excellent read!
I must confess that I started this story with mixed feelings. A part of me was very excited because I had heard many great things about this book. But that also made me worried that maybe my expectations were too high because of it. It wouldn’t be the first time that this happened.
But luckily for me, I enjoyed this book too! For a debut book it was really good.
Sometimes life can be hard, difficult but sometimes it can give you gifts too. You only don’t know when what will happen.
The last few years has been hard for Gigi, she became unexpectedly a single mother and a short time later she lost her own mother to cancer. Luckily, she found a new friend in Ben, an old man she met through her work as a nurse. But now she and her daughter Rowen has lost him too.
But Ben left her and her daughter something. His farmhouse in a small-town in Montana. Gigi decides to move there with her daughter. Gigi was prepared for many things but she wasn’t prepared for the town’s sheriff to be so rude to her. Jess may be handsome and popular (and makes her dream of naughty things) but his attitude is really bad.
Jess, never thought he would fall for the beautiful stranger that is now living in the house that he thought of as his home. Although he was very suspicious of her in the beginning, he must admit that maybe he was wrong about her.
Then Gigi and Jess get to know each other better and they fall hard for each other. But both have issues of their own. Issues that could be a big problem in their relationship. And that’s not their only problem! Bad things are happening in their small town. Dangerous things. Things that get people killed. Can Jess keep Gigi and her daughter safe? And will Gigi forgive him when he makes a mistake?
Like I said in the beginning, I enjoyed the story. The story was good written and I liked the main characters. But I must also confess that when I was reading Jess and Gigi’s story that now and then I would be become a little bit nervous because Jess could sometimes be very headstrong in his decisions and Gigi was sometimes very uncertain of herself. And it would be easy for those two things to become too much (too dominant and too unsure) but luckily the writer Devney Perry knew the boundary with it before it became too much. We got both POV’s. The side characters were also very enjoyable.
I’m looking forward to the next book of this series.
“She had true beauty, like nothing I’d never seen before. Something that brought men like me to their knees. Something that went straight to my dick and shut off my brain. There was nothing artificial about her. No fake tan or fake tits. She was perfect without all the heavy makeup and teased-out hair. And she clearly ate more than lettuce and diet pills. Not that she was fat. She had a fit body with toned muscles on her arms and legs, but soft curves around her breasts and hips.”
This was a book recommended by a friend. She had read the blurb & began to read, then messaged me to say, “GET THIS BOOK!” So, of course, I did. When I began reading, I’ll have to admit it took a bit for me to get truly invested. This bears no reflection on the writing or the story, I just felt a little disconnected from everything. But once the story hit me, IT HIT ME.
I couldn’t believe the things that were happening in this book. It was like each time I thought I had things figured out, she twisted the story around another corner and I had to chase it down a new path. I was never bored. And that love story, *insert swoon here.* I cannot believe how beautifully their love formed! I wasn’t sure they were going to make it, to be honest. Jess was a JERK. Yeah, those are all capital letters you see because he was that bad. But man, when those type of guys fall …
“But just like Friday night dinners at the cafe, I’d never go fishing alone again. Because what I’d thought was peace was just an illusion. Today, with Georgia and Roe, I learned what peace truly felt like.”
As I read through the story, it reminded me a bit of some of the Kristen Ashley stories I hold dear to my heart (Colorado Mountain series). But I don’t want to take away from the style and writing that is completely unique to Devney Perry. This story was definitely its own, but just gave me some of the same deep-in-my-heart feels that I received from that series.
GET. THIS. BOOK. (and the next one )
I really enjoyed The Coppersmith Farmhouse I first heard about Devney Perry from Aestas Book Blog I always love her suggestions and after reading her reviews and thoughts was so excited to start the Jamison Valley series and I didn’t regret only having two hours of sleep while my kindle gave me the evil eye because I had to plug it in to finish the last couple of chapters well worth it . I love the feel of this story it just makes me want to sit by a fire or on a porch swing while I read it . The characters are really likable I hope to see more of the secondary characters and to read their own romances . The relationship between the hero and heroine begins as a hate love kind of way to were I really disliked the hero at first because he was extremely rude but when we got to his point of view we see why he reacted that way and quickly realized his mistake . Loved the heroine right away with her adorable little girl she’s an incredible mother , has a back bone , plus she’s sassy . The hero took me time to warm up to but he soon became swoon worthy with the little things he would do for the heroine and her little girl . I didn’t see the twist coming such a big surprise to see who was behind on the things going on in this quaint town . Will be reading more by this author can’t wait to see whats to come .

Beautiful book with an Kristen Ashley style that I adore!!
Amazing with an Alpha male that was an Sheriff and so protective of the heroine..love it!!
The heroine was so strong sassy snd a single mom!!
I will definitely be reading more of this author and this series!!
I enjoyed this book so much!
Lately, I’m craving for a good love-hate relationship and this book sort of promise me that. Especially with all those good reviews, I simply can’t resist picking it up. I got what I want indeed, though it’s not as thick as I want it to be.
Jess isn’t as a$$hole-ish as I thought he would be. He caved in so easily because he’s attracted to Gigi right away. If only.. I guess it’s because I’m weak for misunderstood heroine. And Gigi’s situation really calls for it. Gigi is your classic heroine, gentle, kind, but strong and I like that about her. She didn’t back down no matter how intimidating Jess acted around her.
This book gave out Kristen Ashley vibe but still has its own style and I love it. Look forward to read more from this series.
