The list of things I hate is short. Not even my soon-to-be ex-husband is on that list. Nope. I save only the worst of the worst, the crème de la crème, the absolute I cannot even for this list . . .1. Black coffee2. Rude people3. Nathaniel BradleyWhich is why when my father informs me that he’s making Nathaniel Bradley his new business partner, and in turn, my boss, I flip out. 1. He’s an … flip out.
1. He’s an annoying know-it-all.
2. He calls me a spoiled princess every chance he gets.
3. He disapproves of everything I do.
I go into this knowing I’ll hate every second in his presence. Except the longer he’s around, the more I find myself staring at his lips and remembering the one time they were on mine. I randomly find myself looking at his hands and wondering how they’d feel on my skin.
I try to snap out of it, but I guess I’m not as smart as I thought I was. No matter how many times I remind myself of the times I’ve practically thrown myself at him and he’s pushed me away, I keep falling little by little.
I’d always heard that it was a bad idea to mix business with pleasure and if that’s the case, this thing with Nathaniel has demise written all over it.

The Consequences of Falling by Claire Contreras is an enemies to lovers story that charmed me from the start. Presley and Nathanial met when she was in high school and he was starting college and did not really hit it off at all. Throughout the years, due to Nathaniel’s history and connection with her father, they cross paths off and on for years.
Presley is currently going through a lot. To top it off, while she is going through a divorce, she learns Nathaniel will become her father’s new business partner and essentially her new boss. She did not take that very well! Presley was a strong and determined woman. Nathaniel on the other hard has been driven to succeed and he has. Though she always referred to Presley as a princess, there was so much more there. Could this finally be their time?
Nathanial and Presley have great chemistry and sexual push and pull throughout the story. Even as they go back and forth, you can feel their connection. I loved and was enthralled by these characters and their journey. The Consequences of Falling by Claire Contreras was a bit emotional and a whole lot of sweet and fun read.
4.5-stars! Read and reviewed for Sultry Sirens Book Blog!
The Consequences of Falling pulled at my heartstrings.
Presley is such a spitfire. Man, it was wonderful to watch her grow; her relationship with her parents, with Nathaniel, and with Adam. She had a lot of maturing to do, had a lot of realizations and wake-up calls, and watching it all unfold was heartwarming.
Nathaniel took me a little to warm up to. He just seems so mean in the beginning, of course, at the time I had no idea where it was coming from or what was funneling it. I enjoyed the peeling back of his layers and seeing him for who he is. It made me sad he never felt good enough. Seeing who he grew into and his relationship with Presley’s father was touching.
This story had my emotions all over the place. I laughed and I cried. It’s a beautiful, emotional journey.
The Consequence of Falling by Claire Contreras was a story full of tension and angst and the push and pull of a couple not quite sure how to give in to what they both wanted. Nathaniel and Presley were both so stubborn, at times I wanted to smack them. I couldn’t put this book down until I figured out how their story was going to go. I loved their moments of tenderness and passion. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone!
4.5 ”You’re Everything I’ve Ever Wanted” Stars!
Presley Rose is a New York socialite whose family owns a successful brewery business that everyone always assumed she’d one day take over since she’s an only child. Most of her life she’s done what’s expected of her. She attended college and married what she thought was the perfect guy on paper. The safe choice. Now after an unhealthy, failed marriage, she’s left to pick up the pieces. She feels like her life is falling apart, and she’s tired of plastering on a fake smile, and acting like everything is ok, when it’s not. She’s finally ready to live her life on her own terms.
Presley is excited for a new project she’s working on with her dad, when she finds out her dad’s new business partner is her longtime enemy Nathaniel Bradley. She met Nathaniel when they were teenagers and her emotions were all over the place. He’s always been her father’s favorite pet who knew just how to make her somehow feel inferior.
Presley & Nathaniel were from different social backgrounds, and both attended NYU where she practically threw herself at him over the years, and he always rejected her advances. He treated her like an overprivileged, spoiled princess, and knew just how to push her buttons. Nothing was ever easy for her, and she hated how he seemed to do everything effortlessly. He was the classic rags to riches story, and the media loved him. He’s still devastatingly handsome, and extremely annoying. He was never nice to her in the past, and they would usually bicker, and then go their separate ways. Now they’re both single and share a mutual attraction they try to ignore. Their working together in close quarters, and the longer their around one another, the more they can’t quit thinking about the one time their lips touched. Each encounter left Presley infuriated and frustrated. She thinks Nathaniel has no interest in her, but he wants her any way he can have her. He’s had it bad for her since he was eighteen, and he’s tired of denying what’s between them.
This was a fantastic enemies to lovers romance full of emotion, fabulous banter, chemistry, angst, sexual tension, and second chances. It never fails I always love this authors books. She creates exciting, intriguing stories that I can’t get enough of.
I’m a huge fan of the ‘Enemies-to-Lovers’ trope, so when I first read the blurb and immediately got that vibe my excitement stemmed and grew from there.
From the start I loved Nathaniel and his need to annoy Presley at every turn. The back and forth banter between the two was relentless and at moments had me laughing out loud. College years Presley and Nathaniel’s banter starts to turn into lust, but something always holds them back from exploring the possibility.
Now, Presley is in the middle of a brutal separation from her husband, Adam. Even though this is a sad moment for Presley, it was also a humbling moment. Presley definitely learned a lesson, the safe choice isn’t always the right choice. I loved this turning moment in her life. This is a woman who had independence but was never forced to use it. After her ill attempt at marriage she soon realizes she never truly lived her own life. She was always living the life others expected of her. First she was the daughter of a wealthy beer brewer, then she was a politicians wife.
Presley decides to finally go into the family brewing business, but she’s about to come to the realization that things aren’t the same in the family business as they once were, considering the fact that her father sold half the business to her arch nemesis and ancient history crush, Nathaniel…
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I freaking loved Nathaniel! I loved his ambition and strive when it comes to actually working for what he gets out of life. I also loved how he tried to instill the same strive and ambition in Presley. These two are legit the perfect half to each other, he is the yin to her yang. Now let’s get to the nitty-gritty, Nathaniel’s ambition isn’t the only thing I loved about this character. He’s also Sexy as sin and swoony as hell. There were moments where I had to legit use my kindle as a fan. So freaking sexy!!! Presley is one lucky lady.
Honestly, the main reasoning behind why I loved this novel so much was the emotional aspect and the lesson it taught. That lesson being, life is short. Live your moments and love your family. Don’t squabble over the small things and never take a second for granted or you’ll have regrets when the end comes near. On another honestly note, I may have shed a tear or two. A certain tragic moment hit really close to home for me. I legit felt for Presley, like everything is out of your hands, no matter how hard you want to yell or how loud you want to scream, you can’t fight or prolong the inevitable.
That is all I’m going to say for fear of giving spoilers away….
Overall, if you’re looking for a fun read that will have you laughing out loud, but on the other hand also has a deep emotional aspect to it, you should reach for The Consequence Of Falling. This was such a great read with true meaning and raw emotion.

I love this cover so much!
Presley is fifteen when she first meets Nathaniel. She doesn’t know who he is and why he is driving her dads car. She has no clue what to think and doesn’t trust him. She is dealing with her parent’s divorce. The divorce is changing Presley and the way she feels about things. She is expected to one day take over her father’s brewery. Presley does not know if that is what she really wants to do.
Three years later she sees Nathaniel again. They are both attending the same college and are both attracted to each other. Neither one does anything about it. She still isn’t sure about Nathaniel’s intentions. As the story unfolds things happen and one day she find out her dad has plans to make him his partner in his business.
If you are looking for a good friends to enemies romance look no further. Claire Contreras gives you a book full of angst and emotion that will pull you in from page one.
The Consequence of Falling is a sweet, sexy, angsty, steamy and jam-packed emotional story. Presley and Nathaniel met when she is in high school and he is in college. They had this chemistry but back then, she chased after him and he blew her off and treated her pretty badly. As they get older, things between them don’t get much better, sad to say. When Presley’s father announced that Nathaniel going to be his new business parter, which meant Presley is going to be working essentially for him, she blows a gasket. Why would her father make him- who isn’t a blood relative his partner and not her??? Her life is going down in flames before her eyes and this is so not what she needs added to her troubles right now. For most of her life Presley did what was expected of her by her father. She attended college and married who she thought was the proper/perfect man – the safe choice, the proper choice but not the right man in her heart. Now after an unhealthy, unhappy, failed marriage, she’s left to pick up the broken pieces. She feels like her life is falling all apart, and she’s tired of plastering on this fake smile for everyone and acting like everything is a’ ok, when it’s completely NOT. She’s finally ready to live her life for Her not for anyone else. Most of this story is told from Presley’s POV, as we see her work thru the pain of her broken marriage/divorce, trying to prove to her father she can be successful in his business, help the business be successful and deal with the unwelcome feelings she has whenever she’s around Nathaniel. I loved the intense push and pull that’s between Presley and Nathaniel. Nathaniel is this sexy, handsome and intelligent man who has always wanted Presley but he pushed her away because the time wasn’t right. Theirs was a push/pull relationship. You could feel how bad he wanted her even when he made snarky comments or hurt her feelings.
These two are just pure magic together, but it is obvious that their path to true love will not be easy for them and will be pretty rocky. This story had my emotions all over the place- like rollercoaster emotion ride!! I laughed, I cried and I swooned! It’s a beautiful, emotional journey that tissues are needed.
My Rating: 4.5 stars *****
This was a flurry of conflicting emotions, but definitely full of emotions. Like an enemies to friends to more, a past between them with misunderstandings or miscommunications. Presley seems like a lost girl at times, at least emotionally, but she’s strong & fierce & filled with love & kindness. Nathaniel is arrogant & sexy & hard working, and maybe not the greatest at getting across what he thinks (at least in my interpretation-maybe Presley’s too lol). I have no clue if this would even remotely help you, but I’m not one to give you the whole plot of the story. I will say this, I loved this book. I loved these characters. Sometimes I was yelling at them, sometimes I was laughing with them, sometimes I wanted to smack them lol. And I definitely shed some tears, more than once. So basically, buy it, read it, and you’ll love it
The Consequence of Falling is a great enemies to lovers romance. Nathaniel and Presley seriously put my emotions through the wringer!! And I loved every minute of it. Their clever banter and the tug of war aspect coupled with the sexual tension had me on the edge of my seat. Their lives are intertwined with each other as Nathaniel and Presley met when he began working for Presley’s father at White Oak Brewery when he was eighteen years old and she was fifteen. Fast forward to several years later and they are now working together at the same company.
Honestly, in the beginning of the book, I didn’t like Presley. I thought she was selfish, irresponsible and a spoiled brat. I couldn’t figure out what Nathaniel saw in her. Ms. Contreras did an excellent job with her character development and redeeming her. Once her behavior started to change and she began to flourish, I was able to connect with her. I knew deep down she had the potential to be a great heroine and she turned out to be an amazing woman with a kind and generous heart. I just couldn’t help but love the tall, dark and handsome, Nathaniel. He has the ultimate sex appeal and what I found even more sexy is his unrequited love for Presley. He saw something in her and loved her unconditionally. He never gave up on her and brought out the best in her.
At the end of the day, Nathaniel and Presley were made for each other. Once they realized they were so much better as lovers than enemies, they were unstoppable. Their relationship was sweet, tender and full of passion. I enjoyed their story and once again, Claire Contreras delivered another wonderfully written book.
Presley was expected to go to school then take over her dad’s company one day. Her parents made decision to get a divorce. One day she was waiting after school for her father to get her but someone else was in her dad’s car. Nathaniel and her didn’t hit it off at first but since he worked with her dad, they had to see each other. Nathaniel was a self made man who her father respected. There is attraction there but both are stubborn. Will either act on their attraction? Will there be a happy after ever?
