It was love at first sight. Not just for Vivian, but for Corbin as well. Their eyes locked across the room, and that was all she wrote. But they didn’t rush things. They wanted to do it right. After all, they would spend the rest of their lives together. The love of each other’s life. Soul mates. He was the intense and fiercely protective soldier, and she was his doting and faithful lover. They … lover.
They found their happily ever after. This was their story… until it wasn’t.
Ten years after Corbin divorced Vivian, after her confession while he was deployed, he still hasn’t spoken to the girl who brought him to life only to stab him in the heart, sending him into an even darker state than where he was before he met her.
Ten years, he’s been watching her from afar, keeping tabs. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he’s now part of a group of mercenaries who carry out justice. Criminals who hide behind their fancy lawyers and power—they take care of them and make it all look like karma. And with intel from their founder, Dr. Walker, a therapist with a long list of predators whose victims were too scared to turn them in, work is plenty and fulfilling.
Until Vi begins her sessions and Corbin discovers the reality he’s lived the past ten years was nothing but a lie, when the truth is revealed.

I really enjoyed the first half of this book. It’s centered on Vivian and Corbin’s relationship before “it” happens. I didn’t so much enjoy the second half of the book. I would have rather seen it go in a different direction. But it had a better ending. (I’m trying not to include spoilers)
The second half the book is mostly about BDSM. And a D/s relationship. It goes into depth talking about actual, for real BDSM. Not just walking into a club and watching scenes.
I am definitely glad I read this book. It won’t be a reread for me. But I did enjoy it
Evidently I was late to the party! I read Doc first (which is the last book) and LOVED it! This is beautiful, but painful story. Robichaux really shines in the details of this one. I just wanted to leave a few words before I was on to book 3. I’m on a binge and can’t stop now. 🙂
Before the Lie:
I’m not sure how, but I totally missed this book! To begin with, I didn’t realize it was part of the Club Alias series, as I began reading Seven, and then following Brian and Clarice’s story. Now that I know, I absolutely had to go back to read Corbin’s story! And I’m totally glad I did! As told in the title, this book is part of a duet, and is only half of Corbin and Vi’s story. It details how they met, the beginnings of their relationship, and what happened to tear them apart. Book 2, Truth Revealed, is about their second chance, their HEA.
Vi is innocent. At the beginning, she is a senior in high school, just before graduation. She’s not had the easiest time of things, having been bullied in school. Fortunately, she has a strong support system in her family, and finds that she loves rock climbing. She builds her life around her enjoyment of the sport, and her family loves her enough to support her through that.
Corbin is a Marine. Stationed at the base near Vi’s home town, a chance meeting has him wandering into the place that Vi climbs at. Their’s is an instant connection, one that can’t be denied by either one of them. Their initial courtship is beautiful, absolutely perfect.
I’ve never seen an author handle a story this way. Most of the time, the “backstory” for a second chance romance is told through flashbacks or conversations between the characters. But after reading Before the Lie, I can understand why she did it this way. There was so much emotion, so much trust, so much pure love between Vi and Corbin, I don’t think it could have been properly conveyed any other way. I didn’t think there was any way that Vi and Corbin could be torn apart, but it happened. Their story, so far, has been so full of emotion, ups and downs, that I can’t wait to see what comes next.
Truth Revealed:
So many emotions! I was all over the place with this book! I felt Corbin and Vi were perfect for each other right from the beginning of Before the Lie, and that hasn’t changed at all. The continuation of their story brought me to tears, had me angry, and filled me full of hope. It was an amazing story!
Corbin is former military, now part owner of a BDSM club. He also has a bit of an obsession with his ex-wife. Despite it being his decision to divorce, he can’t quite let her go. When he catches sight of her entering his club, he kinda goes off the rails a bit.
Vi hasn’t moved on with her life. She is still alone, unable to move past Corbin. He is always on her mind, and she still loves him. Even so, she has been able to make her life somewhat fulfilling, and has found a career that makes her happy.
This book……I can’t get past the myriad of emotions it brought out. The connection between Corbin and Vi is absolute magic, exactly what I look for in a romance. The heat level between them is off the charts, but its that connection between them that stays strong despite a decade apart that really makes this book so fabulous. This duet is definitely an amazing beginning to the Club Alias series, and definitely going on my recommend list!
Before The Lie –
Overall, I did love the book. I’m not really sure if it was her young age or her extremely mousy personality the first part of the book. But Vi, in the beginning, really got on my nerves. Corbin I loved from the beginning. An alpha soldier through and through, but finds patience he didn’t know he possessed when it comes to Vi. Corbin and Vi are perfect together and I loved watching their relationship grow and blossom until the lie. I’ve become a big fan of KD Robichaux’s writing.
Truth Revealed –
Oh, WOW! I don’t even know where to start with how much I loved this book! I loved Corbin and Vi in the first book. But I’m head over heals about them now. It’s 10 years after the lie was told, and through some interesting twists and turn, the truth does come out. Dr. Walker has to be one of my favorite characters of all time.
The strength of the relationship between Corbin and Vi is positively magical. It’s amazing the things you can overcome with love. Definitely one of my favorite couples and books.
Ugh this duet had sooooooo much feels! It blew my mind and threw me for a loop for sure, but also melted my heart, shattered it and then put it back together! It really had so many different layers to it that explaining it just won’t do it any justice! You need to read it to experience the magic that this author is capable of! This was a phenomenal story!
Vi and Corbin’s story was fantastic I loved it. I was sucked in before I was even finished with the first chapter of Before The Lie. Thank goodness I was able to read Truth Revealed after I finished BTL because I don’t think I could’ve stood having to wait to read it. KD Robichaux has a unique gift of being able to weave her stories to the point that you feel like you’re right in the book experiencing everything right along with the characters. I went through every emotion possible while reading these books that’s how good KD is at writing her stories. If you haven’t read any of her books take my advice go read them because I can definitely guarantee you will not be disappointed at all.
