The Dollmaker was the name of the serial killer who had stalked Los Angeles ruthlessly, leaving grisly calling cards on the faces of his female victims. Now with a single faultless shot, Detective Harry Bosch thinks he has ended the city’s nightmare.
But the dead man’s widow is suing Harry and the LAPD for killing the wrong man — an accusation that rings terrifyingly true when a new victim is … victim is discovered with the Dollmaker’s macabre signature.
So for the second time, Harry must hunt down a death-dealer who is very much alive, before he strikes again. It’s a blood-tracked quest that will take Harry from the hard edges of the L.A. night to the last place he ever wanted to go — the darkness of his own heart.
With The Concrete Blonde, Edgar Award-winning author Michael Connelly has hit a whole new level in his career, creating a breathtaking thriller that thrusts you into a blistering courtroom battle — and a desperate search for a sadistic killer.

I’m a big fan of Michael Connolly and his main character, Harry Bosch. I’ve read most of the series. The Concrete Blonde ranks at the top of the list. Connolly has crafted a fascinating cast of characters, as Harry Bosch is put on trial for shooting a vicious serial killer.
I don’t want to give the plot away, but there are many surprises along …
One of my favorite lines is in this book, the opening one: The house in Silverlake was dark, its windows as empty as a dead man’s eyes.
Harry Bosch is on trial this time, and we go through the excruciating process with him while at the same time he is pursuing an investigation that changes lives.
This was my first Bosch book. I’ve watched the series and knew I would have to dive into the books at some point. Now, I know I’ll be reading the rest. Aside from the great writing, the parallels to Raymond Chandler’s Philip Marlowe and Connelly’s Bosch are frequent. Most people would have started at book #1, but the back cover plot description …
Detective Harry Bosch has been accused and is standing trial for an action four years earlier, mistakenly killing a man suspected of being a serial killer. To make matters worse the police have received a note from the supposedly dead serial killer with directions to his latest victim. Add to that department politics and city government and …
Micheal Connelly is one of my all-time favorites!!
Michael Connelly is one of the greatest mystery writers of all time.
All of the Harry Bosch are really well written. I started reading this author about 3 months ago and I am on my 20th book in this series. I really hate to put them down and what to just keep reading.
Vintage Bosch. If you are a fan this is a must read. No, you will read them all.
Great book as usual by great author
As a former police officer, any book by Michael Connely, is a pleasure to read.
Everything Michael Connelly writes is great. When you pick up a book by him, you know it’s going to be a winner.
Connelly is always good.
Always love Bosch!!!
Not as good as the other Bosch books I’ve encountered. This one was heavy on the court/legal side and steeped in psychology. I wondered about the fascination with the statue in front of the courthouse (but that was answered in the end). Written in 1994, there are references to pay phones and pagers. So different from today’s crime stories.
It …
This was my first Michael Connelly novel. I listened to it while painting my mother’s home back in 1996. I picked it solely on title since I love the band by the same name. After reading it, I never looked back. I have read every book he’s published (that I’m aware of) since then and I’ll be reading his books as long as he writes them. Bosch is …
