Claire Thompson has created a multifaceted BDSM utopia, a place where it’s safe and secure, a place where both men and women, dominants and subs, inexperienced and highly experienced, can share their lives.”The CompoundNo safeword… No control… No turning back…Alexis longs for the erotic training and discipline that The … back…

This trilogy set is an excellent, sizzling hot & exciting foray into The Compound, with these tales of it’s Masters, Mistresses, submissives & slaves. Be prepared for one steamy, emotionally satisfying adventure as 3 couples find their way at The Compound:
The Compound (#1): Shakespeare said, ‘To thine own self be true’ but what if you don’t know what your true self is? How are you then able to be true to yourself? How do you find your self? That is the crux & conflict of Alexis’ story in ‘The Compound’.
Alexis is 30 years old, is a career business women with an excellent position in a big city, she scenes regularly as a submissive with a Dom friend/partner of long standing at a local BDSM club. She’s successful, trusts her BDSM partner, is healthy but definitely not happy. Why can’t she ever ‘fly’ while in a scene as every other sub is able to do? Every time she teeters on the brink of doing so, of feeling true & complete submission, her walls come slamming up, walling her off from her ultimate goal & hope.
But Arthur her Dom partner clues her into The Compound & offers her a chance to immerse herself 24/7 in Master/slave BDSM training to see if that will allow Alexis to ‘fly’ & find true submission. And in a final effort to discover her true self Alexis applies, interviews & is accepted to The Compound & is given to Master John as a slave trainee. Master John is stern, old school, rigorous & exacting; his methods have successfully trained many superb slaves/submissives for their Masters/Doms & he is highly regarded & respected at The Compound.
So why is Alexis constantly drawn to Master Paul, who is not her Master?
The author does an excellent job helping the reader understand not only Alexis’ frustrations & insecurities but how her mind bounces back & forth, sometimes chaotically, between building herself up & shooting herself down. I felt Alexis’ agitation as she fights a near constant battle to focus, to submit, to accept, to learn, to absorb vs letting her temper & personality overcome her basic need & want to be truly submissive. But even the best trainer can only do so much, the trainee has to assist, to provide willing clay to be shaped & molded & despite Master John’s best efforts Alexis is not giving that ‘extra’ part of herself to succeed.
I truly enjoyed this story, the secret solution to Alexis’ failure & her ability to succeed was ultimately a wonderfully simple & clear one, one I felt the author brought forth in a beautiful manner. I was genuinely happy & pleased with the solution & outcome. Of course, Alexis had a hard & intense journey in her attempt to achieve her desired goal but her friends, & the Masters were there to help & guide her along the way.
Beyond The Compound (#2): I found this book to be extremely enjoyable.
For some reason it seemed almost comforting to me despite the intense BDSM erotic sessions between Master Ronan & his slave Hailey. And again, this comfort angle puzzles me as both the story & sex were intensely hot & the author’s writing really drew me into the story & the characters. Perhaps that is why it felt comforting to me: I felt as though I truly understood Hailey in her search for a Master who would hone her submissive abilities, help intensify her focus & control, guide her further along her chosen path. Nothing about the story was rushed & yet it also never dragged, got boring or had any portions I chose to skim over.
This is not to say this story wasn’t highly erotic, intense, exciting as well as eye opening, it definitely was for me. But again, the author’s writing seemed to me to be like watching the waves on a beach slowly creep higher & higher~~ the author takes time to develop her characters, their situations, a light dusting of pertinent background for each so the reader (IMO) is able to truly connect with them. The author also does a masterful job of describing the surroundings, again allowing the reader to feel immersed but without any of it seeming like filler or ‘too much’. I felt as though I was familiar with The Compound, with Ronan’s Malibu estate & with Hailey’s VT home without feeling as though I was reading an article for an architectural magazine (thank goodness!).
And there wasn’t any ‘insta’ anything, the story had a marvelous flow, from the purchase of Hailey’s 6 month contract, to meeting her new Master Ronan, to finding their way together in their Master/slave dynamic.
I found Ronan to be an awesome Master/man: firm, fair, consistent, kind & always willing to listen to any of Hailey’s fears &/or concerns. Hailey was a thoroughly likable submissive/woman: quiet, thoughtful, kind & always eager to fully submit to her Master. The story takes the reader along Ronan & Hailey’s Master/slave journey together, complete with the revelations, bumps, fears, joys, insecurities & epiphanies.
I was rooting enthusiastically through the entire book hoping with my fingers crossed for Ronan & Hailey to have a HEA: together!
So, for the reader who desires an in-depth BDSM romance that is heartwarming, heartfelt, erotic & a wonderfully substantial & pleasurable read, I highly recommend this one.
Coming Home (#3): Another wonderful addition to the author’s The Compound series.
As always with the author’s Compound books, the reader is treated to erotic BDSM scenes & interactions ranging from luscious thuddy floggings to wax play & on to edgier& more nerve wracking scenes. All these erotic delights are perfectly sprinkled (IMO) throughout the story as wonderful enticements to spice up a lovely tale of 2 people finding each other.
I love how the author is able to take the reader along a journey of growth and/or enlightenment with the main characters. In this story, Talia (h), an erotic masochistic submissive & Master Ethan (H), a Master temporarily at The Compound to implement his training program.
Talia is a young widow, her beloved husband & Master, Tom, was killed in action in the Middle East. Bereft & feeling completely unanchored, wanting to remain emotionally detached since his death, Talia finds her way to The Compound where she seems to perfectly finish their slave training to the point she is offered a position there as a staff slave. And this suits Talia perfectly: sheltered within The Compound with those sharing a BDSM lifestyle, but not owned by any one Master. She is a slave to any & all of the Masters allowing her to keep her heart & emotions sealed up ensuring they aren’t given to any other than her deceased husband & Master Tom. But Talia has never reached ‘subspace’, she doesn’t ’embrace’ the erotic pain she craves merely ‘powers’ her way through it via her mental technique of retreating deep into a white blanket of nowhere. And none of the Masters at The Compound ever notice Talia’s ‘escape’.
Master Ethan is visiting The Compound from Florida for a few months & then expected to return. But that was before his immediate & intense connection with the beautiful sub Talia. Master Ethan is a firm stern & exacting Master, but he is also sensitive & aware of the emotions that drive subs, especially the seemingly ‘perfect’ Talia. And Master Ethan is the only one who notices that Talia is not ‘flying into subspace’ but shutting herself down dangerously during intense physical scenes & refusing to ‘safeword’.
Master Ethan & Talia are both engaging characters, I was drawn to their electric & immediate mutual romance but even more, drawn to Master Ethan’s firm but gentle & determined search into what was causing Talia’s attempts to experience subspace to fail, why she shut down & most importantly, why she wouldn’t communicate distress or safeword during intense sessions.
I loved how Master Ethan was firm but thoughtful & gentle, not only with his romancing of an emotionally wary Talia, but how he worked to help her find what she needed & wanted & to help her understand that there are multiple paths in their chosen lifestyle. That a path she shared with Master Tom did not necessarily mean it was the path needed with someone else. Master Ethan was loving & protective of Talia, & Talia found with Master Ethan a sweet physically satisfying relationship, sexually & otherwise, she hadn’t before experienced.
But Master Ethan is only able to show the way, to stand beside Talia, to support her, Talia is the one who must dig deep within herself to not only find answers but acknowledge truth & make the changes required for her & Master Ethan’s relationship to fully progress.
This story is mainly a wonderful tale of 2 people finding their ‘one’ but also a journey to inner peace & acceptance of one’s need to adapt. There is a bit of darkness with a secondary character, some low level angst related to the dark situation, erotic BDSM encounters & old friends from previous books by the author. I truly did enjoy this one, it is a heartwarming romance I will be rereading.
The Compound
I loved Alexis! The fact that she knew what she was missing, and wanted it so badly, is something most people can understand. John was perfect as her trainer, and he gave her everything she needed, but was missing that one little piece. As Alexis struggled to find her place in her world, she brought us right along with her. Her frustration and pain at her failures reverberate through the pages and out at you. When things finally fall into place for her, I wanted to fist pump in happiness for her
Beyond the Compound
Hailey and Ronan were perfect together. Both knew what they wanted, and weren’t shy about needing it. Of course, Ronan had to keep it from the world, being an A list actor and all. But even then, you could feel his displeasure with his life. Hailey was the opposite, taking time away from a life she loved to pursue her submission. Ridiculously good chemistry between the two, kinks that lined up perfectly, and an admiration for the other, could only lead to them falling for each other. So they did, in perfect harmony, and completely in sync!
Coming Home
I really enjoyed reading Ethan and Talia’s story! Ethan didn’t think he was missing anything in life, but after coming for a short stint at the Compound, he is instantly attracted to the quiet sub. Talia has had more than required heartache in life so far, but she is aware enough to know what she needs. While she is embracing the lifestyle as a sub, she has no plans to be involved with one person. Then she meets Ethan. There is so much growth that happens between these two. Neither Ethan or Talia fight their attraction, but working out the details of their relationship, their Master/slave dynamic, takes some time. There are some major happenings that cause them to rely on each other. They need to break from the molds they have, and accept what they mean to each other. Stark in some spots, warm in others, the journey was a joy to take with this Dom and sub
Coming Home
It was so lovely to return to the compound and visit with old friends. The ending of this story is fabulous. The whole book is a well written and fabulous story. Ms. Thompson is a wonderful storyteller and this book is a shining example of that gift. Talia and Master Ethan are a great couple. It was so fun seeing Talia come so far in her submission.
The Compound
This story had some intense BDSM scenes, including sensory deprivation, but what lingers when all is said and done is the love. Her assigned trainer is all about the rules and training. The trainer she can’t stop watching is all about connection and love. Which one will break through her walls? One of the best BDSM books I have read in a long time. I volunteered to read and review this book.
Beyond the Compound
Ms. Thompson’s books provide wonderful fantasies, but with a realistic turn with the various BDSM practices she depicts. Her Doms are loving and careful of their subs even when they are under contract. The characters are described in a way that makes me see, smell and feel them. This is what a book is supposed to give me when I read. The storyline is great and her writing style makes it easy to read as always. I really enjoyed the ending and am hoping Sam gets his story too.
Compelling, deliciously kinky, A MUST-READ trilogy – the ultimate in both romantic and loving side of BDSM!
With her eloquence and descriptive prose, author Claire Thompson has woven into being the most exclusive and captivating BDSM trilogy which so captivated this reviewer’s imagination with each book that real life responsibilities seemed to fade in comparison. In each of the three full-length novels, readers are offered the opportunity to experience a form of BDSM that is titillating, and dark due to the consensual total power exchanges and the SM part of BDSM which are described. What I did not expect, but found to be incredibly alluring were the loving, romantic relationships each novel revealed. Using dual narration, Thompson places her readers inside the angst of her main characters, thereby giving her readers a stronger investment into the story and a deeper insight and understanding of those character’s actions and choices. For example, “THE COMPOUND” introduces readers to the most extraordinary character, Alexis, who knows what she needs and is willing to step away from her everyday life to seek it by training at the ultra-exclusive Compound. The language of the Compound is sensuous, but it is the emotions that Thompson’s prose elicited from this reader that kept me glued to the pages until the reading was complete and grabbing up anything I could find by this author. Then, beyond the characters and prose, the plotlines of the novels included in “THE COMPOUND TRILOGY” accelerate the focal relationships with extenuating circumstances that necessitate a rapid building of trust between the characters while the readers enjoy the process of experiencing how their much-loved characters fall in love. It is not a formula that Thompson uses, rather it is a different kind of “slow-burn” romance as for instance Hailey and Ronan from “BEYOND THE COMPOUND” find in each other the person who both heals and completes them, or in “COMING HOME” Talia and Ethan find in each other a place of safety and unconditional love they never thought they would find. If you are looking for a passionately romantic read that is highly sensuous and deals with some of the “less talked about” aspects of BDSM, I humbly suggest “THE COMPOUND TRILOGY” should be your next book purchase! Happy pages!
The Compound
Book 1
When a dream come through. Maybe Alexis didn’t know what she searched for, but she got more than she could ever ask for in The Compound. Finally her bricka fell away.
Book 2
Master Ronan and slave Hailey’s story was really good. Their interaction had so many levels – D/s, lovers and more.
The connection to the Compound as well ger to know new characters gave the story something extra.
Book 3
I loved to return to the Compound again and to meet both old ’friends’ as well as new ones.
Talia and Ethan’s story made my heart warm.
I know that it’s supposed to be an end to this triology, but I can see at least one more story here.
The Coumpond. This is a dark intense submersion into a BDSM training. Alexis is on a journey to to learn to fly. Follow her through her training at The Compound with Master John. Master John is a strict intense BDSM trainer. Even though he is a skilled trainer something is missing in their connection. Could it be love? Does she find that connection with someone else? Guess What? You will have to read the book to find out. I orginally read this book in 2014 and have reread it a couple of times and enjoyed each time. Claire Thompson has the ability to draw you into her stories like you are a bystander experiencing it firsthand. I never hesitate in buying one of her books and am never disappointed.
Beyound The Coumpound. Hailey is a trained submissive who received her training at The Compound. She is brought by Ronan for 6 months. Ronan is a famous actor who is trying to keep his BDSM lifestyle out of the limelight. Follow their journey that eventually leads back to The Compound. It was great to get to see the characters at The Compound again. Does Ronan and Hailey find that connection they are looking for? You will just have to buy this book for yourself to follow this amazing journey. Claire Thompson thank-you for another great book.
Coming Home, the journey continues. The long awaited third book in The Compound trilogy does not disappoint. As the title says, it really does feel like coming home. Enjoyed connecting with some of the original characters from The Compound. This place is built of a family with strong connections. Even though they aren’t blood related they are family non the less. Each looking out for the other. As you read through this journey you will find yourself drawn into this community as you are actually part of this story.
Talia sought out The Compound after her Husband/Dom was killed in the war. She does not believe she will ever find a connection or love with another Dom. Talia is a Submissive, but has never been able to find that place where Subs fly.
Ethan is a visiting Dom from a Miami BDSM Club where he is a trainer. He is at The Compound to start a new training program for Doms and couples. Realizing early on that he needs a Sub as an assistant. Talia wanders into one of his training sessions to deliver towels and is asked to assist. He makes an immediate connection with her and gets permission to use Talia as his Sub for his training sessions.
Talia ends up suffering a terrible experience away from The Compound by an abusive bully that calls himself a Dom. This event was nonconsenual and Talia was not able to escape. Ethan swoops into to save her. This is where their journey takes a turn. Will Talia be able to trust and find love again? Is Ethan’s caring and compassion enough to get her there? You will have to read this thrilling heartwarming story for yourself to see how the journey ends. If you haven’t read the first two books in this trilogy, I recommend you start with The Compound to get the full experience.
Claire Thompson is a gifted author who writes about the good and the bad in the BDSM lifestyle. I never hesitate in buying any of her books. They maybe intense, but always deliver a feel good ending. I am sad to say goodbye to this series but look forward to what is next.
The Compound
What a great story! This is a fast read and a real feel good book, it will leave you believing in love again and that all things are possible. Alexis certainly gave it her all and thought she had failed, but she had been missing the essential ingredient- love. There are some great characters in this book and I especially liked Marta she is the kind of person you would truly treasure as a friend. There are some really exacting BDSM scenes and the reader really feels for Alexis both physically and emotionally. Claire Thompson has the ability to put the reader in the book to experience the emotions and you find yourself rooting for Alexis and silently urging her not to give up.
Beyond the Compound
Hailey and Ronan are the second couple in this series and start out as strict Master and Slave and as Ronan is a famous movie star his privacy and in particular his lifestyle are important to him. When things take a turn for the worse publicly their private takes a turn for the better. Some of the scenes made me cringe a little but the other scenes were lovely. It was great to see how the characters from the Compound have developed and the ending is an ahh moment for sure. Can’t wait to read the last book.
Coming Home
This was a beautiful love story. Talia had loved her husband but after he was killed she was lost and it soon becomes apparent that their dynamic was flawed in that she didn’t fully submit. Ethan is immediately drawn to Talia and is intuitive to all her emotions and wants to help her. When Talia goes through a terrifying experience, it is Ethan that knows she is in trouble and ultimately saves her. They are such a gentle couple which sounds an odd thing to say but that is how they struck me,
It was so nice to see Paul and Alexis again and it was Alexis that helped Talia understand what Ethan was looking for. This is Talia’s journey and it was a remarkable one with a really happy conclusion in every respect.
