Reading this series is like coming home. I honestly hope it never ends!
Everything happens for a reason. We don’t know why until the end. I love how every detail from the beginning made a difference at the end of the story.
This is book #7 in the Color of Heaven series and is a very quick read. Julianne MacLean introduces the concept of interaction with a ghost and near death experiences into this series and she does it well. You do not realize the character of Leah is a ghost until Josh also realizes it in the story. I truly recommend this book. My chief complaint is that it was too short. Then again, I’m a very fast reader and am always disappointed in short reads.
Read it in 3 hours flat… a beautiful story
I enjoy Julianne MacLean’s writing style and her stories are a pleasure to read. This one features Josh Wallace a Boston cop, who was shot while pursuing a criminal. He experiences something that leaves him questioning his beliefs. The story is built around his relationship with the James Family and I enjoyed the unfolding of the story. An inspiring read that is well written and is full of interesting characters and situations and a touch of the paranormal.
This is the first “Color of …” novel that I’ve read, and it was wonderful. The story begins with Josh, a man’s man and police officer, getting dumped by his girlfriend Carla and then getting shot while making a traffic stop in what turned out to be a carjacking. The characters of Josh, Leah, Holly, Riley, and Margie are well developed and believable. This novel shows the courage of the characters, but it also shows how mysterious life’s events can be. Parts of the book made me weep, but parts also made me smile. I can strongly recommend this book.
Enjoyed this third book about twins that were separated at birth and adopted in two very different households. One twin had many advantages and the other in a struggling household. After years not knowing each other they meet and they have many conflicts. This story is touching and heartfelt. A good read.
Without ruining anything for potential readers, I must say that despite the book’s title, there was much unexpected. The story line was predictable, but it was not really the force behind the book. It is what is evoked in the reader as the characters come to grips with the afterlife. It was VERY difficult to like Dr. James…ever. Lots of touching scenes, not unlike real families today.
So many characters who were so different from one another. I always wanted to know what was going to happen next and surprised when I found out.
I have this down, for some reason, as Christian (Romance) Fiction, though it clearly is not. I have the complete series and chose to read this one out of sequence because it was supposed to be a Christmas-themed story and…call me weird but…I like to read Christmas stories at Christmas time. All that being said, Maclean is an amazing storyteller and this tale is imaginative and compelling, and you can’t help but see her images as she narrates the story. Not really my kind of book, but I liked it nonetheless, and I expect I will read the rest of the series.
Everything works out in the end …. but what a path to the ending!
Enjoyable for the holidays
I loved that it was mainly from a male point of view. I also lived the supernatural help this couple/family had to help right their course.
I just love this author.
The story had some narrative twists that kept my interest. With periodic views to an earlier time in life – the characters became well-developed and interesting. I enjoyed reading it and definitely recommend it to others.
A lovely story of love, redemption, and possibilities.
Heart warming!! Uplifting
You get so involved in Josh life after almost dying and want to know how all end.
This is a sweet Christmas story with some unexpected twists.
The book is not the usual fare. It is a really good story about interesting people. I very much enjoyed the read.
