From #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts comes a novel about a woman who needs nothing, a man who sees everything, and the web of deceit, greed and danger that brings them together—and could tear them apart… When professional house-sitter Lila Emerson witnesses a murder/suicide from her current apartment-sitting job, life as she knows it takes a dramatic turn. Suddenly, the … turn. Suddenly, the woman with no permanent ties finds herself almost wishing for one…
Artist Ashton Archer knows his brother isn’t capable of violence—against himself or others. He recruits Lila, the only eyewitness, to help him uncover what happened. Chalking up their intense attraction to the heat of the moment, Lila agrees to help Ash try to find out who murdered his brother and why. From the penthouses of Manhattan to grand Italian villas, their investigation draws them into a rarefied circle where priceless antiques are bought, sold, gambled away and stolen; where what you possess is who you are; and where what you desire becomes a deadly obsession…

Loved the people in the book. She had a very unique job and he is an artist. This book will keep you reading long into the night. Loved it.
Nora Roberts!
So many impactful twists and turns!
I love Nora Roberts.
Nora did it again with this enthralling, spine-tingling, romantic suspense!
For fans of Nora Roberts who are looking for another great read from this spectacular author, The Collector is definitely a book you’ll want to add to YOUR collection! The story involves an author of young adult novels who loves housesitting for people who live in spacious apartments. When she witnesses a horrific double-murder in the apartment next door, our heroine has no idea what kind of chilling and exciting adventure it will lure her into. After being questioned by the police, she meets an artist who happens to be one of the victims’ brother. He informs her that the police are wrong in their suspicions that his brother killed the young woman who was with him and then committed suicide. His brother, he insists, was irresponsible and reckless, but he was no killer any more than he was suicidal. As the protagonist finds herself irresistibly attracted and drawn to the artist, she is drawn into a mystery involving not just antiques, but specifically, Faberge eggs. All the while, Lila, the protagonist, and Asher, the artist, find themselves pursuing a whirlwind romance even as they dodge dangerous villains and travel to Italy in their pursuit of the complicated truth behind the murders of Asher’s brother and his friend. I have read even better books than this one by Nora Roberts, but this is a book her fans should collect and treasure!
You can never go wrong with a book from the Queen of Romance.
Of all the Nora Roberts’ book I’ve read, this one is my favorite…so far:) I could not put this book down. It was thrilling, kept me on the edge of my seat, and the chemistry between Ashton and Lila was…steamy and perfectly paced. As always, Nora delivers yet again in a delicate balance of suspense and romance. A must read!
This book was great! Yet another fantastic world created by Nora Roberts.
The Collector is probably the best book from Nora Roberts that I have read to date. Life can change in a heartbeat, that’s the tag line, and it certainly does for Lila Emerson.
Lila is pretty much perfect. I love the sound of her life. She house-sits, looking after fabulously glamorous homes with perfect pets and is a writer of YA novels, successful ones, of course. She is very personable, practical, fixing all sorts of things and she people watches, a favourite pastime of mine, but while doing so she witnesses something shocking. Through that event she meets Ashton Archer – a successful artist from a wealthy, and large, family – and comes onto the radar of a vicious and single-minded assassin. Uh oh…
I enjoyed the supporting cast too, the lovely dependable friend Julie, and Lucas, her blast from the past. This is an easy and enjoyable read filled with likeable characters as well as a couple you’d rather not come across down a dark alley.
A different love story with two independent individuals involved in a murder in different ways. They work together and the young author is targeted more than the artist whose brother is killed. I kept waiting for the evil villainess to be captured or get her due. Great read.
Absolutely loved this one.
Nora Roberts never fails to write an excellent story and this is no exception. The story never let me down and her characters are great. She is one of my favorite authors!
