All teenagers who dont like to read. Should start off with this book. It changes some of my views on life and actually made me want to do different things in life. So many young people out here trying to be about that life but dont know what life can bring you til you experience it. Well this book brings it to yo at its fullest. Real life problems everyday issues. This is one that will either make you change your ways or make sure you never end in that situation . I live this book. This is hiw I got my niece to read. And I will forever use this as a beginners guide to young mens and women’s as a self help. It helps to see others pain so you dont have to experience that type of pain.
Having volunteered in a women’s prison years ago, this book had me wanting the main character to make better decisions. So many women are in prison because of allowing a man to be vitally important. She had chances to get out of the trap more than once but didn’t take it. I couldn’t put the book down until the end. Realistic and educational.
This book was well written and stayed true to the streets of Brooklyn. Authentic and a page turner. Sistah Souljah reawakened Street Lit!The Coldest Winter Ever

My favorite
I absolutely loved this book, it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was a very dramatic, edgy, easy to read page turner full of suspense. I loved the book so much I read the book in a day and a half. I couldn’t finish my chores, do homework, heck I didn’t even want to stop to go use the restroom. I’ve read this book a few times since the 1st time and I still enjoy it. And, anyone who reads this book will enjoy it as much as I did.
I thought I would enjoy this story as much as everyone else did but it wasn’t what I thought it would be. It was an okay read but I honestly thought I would’ve enjoyed it more. I found the flow of the story slow and instead of these characters showing some type of growth or learning from their lessons, it seemed as if they all went on a downhill slope. Winter was all about money, looks, what she had and what she could get and she stayed that way throughout the whole story. Her mom went from riches to a druggie. Her dad was in prison for life and had a whole other family out there. I just wished Winter would have learned from her parents mistakes or matured a little, but I guess I expected too much from a minor. I love a good urban read but I also love to see the main characters show some type of growth even if its for a short amount of time. There were still unanswered questions in this story for me but I’m not interested in reading any other books.
