Three women–two sisters and their aunt–and the cliff house on the northern California coast that served as a beacon to them all… After the death of their mother, sisters Daisy and Beatriz Davenport found a home with their aunt Stella in the beautiful and welcoming town of Cape Sanctuary. They never knew all the dreams that Stella sacrificed to ensure they had everything they’d ever need. … ever need. Now, with Daisy and Bea grown, it’s time for Stella to reveal the secret she’s been keeping from them–a secret that will change their family forever.
Bea thought she’d sown all her wild oats when she got pregnant far too young. The marriage that followed was rocky and not destined to last, but it gave Bea her wonderful, mature, now eleven-year-old daughter, Marisol. But just as she’s beginning to pursue a new love with an old friend, Bea’s ex-husband resurfaces and turns their lives completely upside down.
Then there’s Daisy–sensible, rational, financially prudent Daisy. She’s never taken a risk in her life–until she meets a man who makes her question everything she thought she knew about life, love and the power of taking chances.
In this heartwarming story, Stella, Bea and Daisy will discover that the path to true happiness is filled with twists and turns, but love always leads them back home.

You can never go wrong with a RaeAnne Thayne book, she write books that stay with you long after you’ve finished!
In perfect RaeAnne Thayne style, she captures your heart and mind from the very beginning. This stand alone story is about three women, an aunt and her two nieces, that find love, second chances, true family and even marriage. I don’t usually like books that have each chapter told by a different character, but in this book it works beautifully. It made perfect sense. And who couldn’t imagine living in this gorgeous Northern California oceanside town of Cape Sanctuary. Her descriptions made it come alive. Throughout the book, I found myself, tearing up at times, and other times cheering. Beautifully written and a perfect beach read. Well done!
No one writes emotion like RaeAnne Thayne. Her characters are so relatable, and the interconnecting stories in this book kept me reading into the night. I loved it.
Absolutely wonderful! Another fantastic read from Thayne. The intertwined stores of three women are engaging and emotional. Quite touching, enough to bring a tear in spots. Great endings to each of their stories. I highly recommend this book.
RaeAnne Thayne has done it again.
The Cliff House is now my all favorite book.
Must read for that “I’m so glad I read that book feeling”.
Anyone who reads knows what I’m talking about.
Three Women. Three Secrets. Three love stories twined together in a beautiful whole.
The setting is Cape Sanctuary, a small town on the Northern California Coast.
The women: Beatriz, an artist/single mother raising her eleven-year-old daughter, her sister Daisy who’s hiding a secret identity under her practical shell, and Stella, their forty-year-old aunt who gave up the love of her life to make a home the nieces she’d rescued from foster care and has the biggest secret of all.
The men who love them: Beatriz’s ex-husband, world-renowned rock star Cruz Lopez wants Beatriz back. Beatriz’s best friend, Shane Landry, former football star turned high school coach who doesn’t seem to notice she wants to be more than his best friend. Gabe Ellison, a born wanderer, and an Oscar-nominated Documentary filmmaker who sees through Daisy to the secrets she refuses to share. And Ed Clayton, the widowed doctor come to Cape Sanctuary to make a new life for himself and his daughter who once loved Stella beyond reason till she disappeared from his life without a word.
The story is told in alternating chapters from several points of view. I loved it. The story kept unfolding petal by petal and I couldn’t wait to see the finished bloom. Five Stars.
Beautiful setting, beautiful characters, beautiful ending.
I wish this book had gone on. I enjoyed the characters and the plot very much. Buy the book, you can’t go wrong with Thayne.
Loved this book!! The three ladies of the book all have different journeys but the intertwine with each other. They all arrive at their destination of love and growth.
This is a beautifully told story of family, relationships, sacrifices, and most of all love. Daisey and Bev come to live with their Aunt Stella in Cape Sanctuary after their mother passed away. They never knew the personal sacrifices Stella made for them. Now they are all grown up and back in Cape Sanctuary. Secrets will be revealed, new love found, along with twists, turns and trouble along the way. Yet at the very core there is always love and the steady hand of family. This story is also full of hope and joy and in my opinion not to be missed! Put this on the must read list. I highly recommend it.
The Cliff House takes a deeper look into the lives of two sisters and the aunt that raised them. Each one has a story to be told and they are so different, yet the very core of these women is the same. I won’t try to retell the story however I can say a bit about each of them. There’s Daisy Davenport, financial planner extraordinaire! With the most amazing meet-cute, she heads down a path with Gabe Ellison that leads both of them to discover things about each other, and themselves, that just touched my heart. For me, it was too funny when Gabe would juuuuuuuuuuuuust have to tweak Daisy, whenever she fell back inside herself. Really loved these two!
Next there’s Bea Davenport, who has a daughter named Marisol, an ex-husband named Cruz, and a lifelong ‘best’ friend named Shawn. Yeah, like that. Bea’s and Shane’s story really got to me – Ms. Thayne really nailed Cruz’s personality, imho. I won’t give any spoilers but let’s say he wasn’t a favorite character for me, understatement of the year. I found myself muttering (what I like to think of as) helpful hints to Bea as to how to handle her ex. No worries, the author did a much better job of it than I did.
Then there is Stella – she has raised these girls while putting her own life on hold. As she turns 40, she is keeping a secret from Daisy and Bea and boy howdy, is it a doozy. She thinks she has to walk this path alone but…well, you should read it for yourself.
Real problems for real people so I predict everyone will find common ground with these folks. I know I was so involved with their lives that I read this story straight thru. And there may have been some advice from me that I thought they should hear. Good thing they didn’t listen.
Awesome book Awesome writer
Well RaeAnne Thayne does it again, I could not put this book down. I just loved all the characters and wanted to hug them all close when times got rough and cheer them on when everything was going good. I felt as if I lived in the small town! A must read if you love good books! If you love Debbie Macomber you will love this one!
I really enjoyed reading this heartwarming women’s fiction read of three women sisters Daisy and Beatriz and their Aunt Stella who find love, romance, relationships, family, trust and giving back to the community.
I loved this book and all books I have read from RaeAnne Thayne. This book was hard to put down! A must read!!
This story had so many wonderful elements. It has heart, and was also heartbreaking in some ways. Daisy and Bea were raised by their Aunt Stella in Cape Sanctuary after the death of their mother. They are all grown up now and still living close to each other, but their lives are complicated. Each one is holding on to a secret that they know they must share, but are afraid of the consequences when they do. This book was so touching. The descriptions of the town and the characters made them come alive in my mind. I hated for this book to end!
I received a complimentary copy of this ebook from the publisher through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
terrible
As always, RaeAnne Thayne delivers a warm, romantic story. One that causes you to shed a tear or two, sigh a little, and root for the good guys to come through. A tale of love, loss, and new opportunities. good for curling up with on a cold night, cup of tea and a plate of cookies near at hand. Or, if you are really lucky, a good read for swinging in a hammock between two palms on a sunny beach!
Nice HEA book, entertaining but a little too predictable
