Three women–two sisters and their aunt–and the cliff house on the northern California coast that served as a beacon to them all… After the death of their mother, sisters Daisy and Beatriz Davenport found a home with their aunt Stella in the beautiful and welcoming town of Cape Sanctuary. They never knew all the dreams that Stella sacrificed to ensure they had everything they’d ever need. … ever need. Now, with Daisy and Bea grown, it’s time for Stella to reveal the secret she’s been keeping from them–a secret that will change their family forever.
Bea thought she’d sown all her wild oats when she got pregnant far too young. The marriage that followed was rocky and not destined to last, but it gave Bea her wonderful, mature, now eleven-year-old daughter, Marisol. But just as she’s beginning to pursue a new love with an old friend, Bea’s ex-husband resurfaces and turns their lives completely upside down.
Then there’s Daisy–sensible, rational, financially prudent Daisy. She’s never taken a risk in her life–until she meets a man who makes her question everything she thought she knew about life, love and the power of taking chances.
In this heartwarming story, Stella, Bea and Daisy will discover that the path to true happiness is filled with twists and turns, but love always leads them back home.

I loved this book. The characters are so fun to read about. Did not want to put the book down.
I’ve been reading and enjoying books by RaeAnne Thayne for years, but I must say that she has outdone herself with The Cliff House. The beautiful cover set the stage, and the story pulled me right in from the start and kept me turning pages far into the night. I was captivated by the three women in the story—Daisy and Beatriz, and their aunt Stella. Although she was only a few years older than the girls, Stella took them in when they were orphaned and gave them a home and the love they desperately needed.
Thayne has deftly and seamlessly woven three separate romantic stories into one compelling and beautiful tale. With a gorgeous, richly-painted setting near the California coast and colorful, multi-layered, and endearing characters, she kept me guessing as the twists and turns continued throughout the story. Exquisitely crafted and packed with emotion, this book has earned a spot on my keeper shelf and taken over as my favorite book from this author.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from the author/publisher. All opinions are my own.
A reader can’t go wrong with a story/book/novel written by RaeAnne Thayne. The Cliff House is filled with intriguing characters searching for family and love. An7 array of characters – middle school teacher, foster mom, artists, accountant, maker of documentaries, rock star, ob-gyn, former professional athlete turned coach, dogs and teens interact and intersect in each other’s lives. The story is told from four different viewpoints which adds to the richness of the storytelling. At 362 pages, The Cliff House is longer book than Thayne’s regular romances. This longer format allows the reader to learn more about each character. I hated for this one to end. I was intrigued with the characters and loved getting to know them.

This book is about love and family. About complex relationships between family members and the falling in love and being happy. about choosing who is going to make you happy and what is best for you. I recommend to anyone looking for a great book to read.
RaeAnne Thayne hits another home run with The Cliff House! I was hooked from the first page of this book until the last page! I loved reading about Bea, Daisy, and Stella and enjoyed the love and friendship that the sisters and their aunt shared.
It amazed me that Stella at a young age made the import decision to take in Bea and Daisy and put her own life on hold. That takes a lot of determination and courage and I don’t know if I would have been able to do that at such a young age.
I love reading books that have strong female characters and those characters grow and develop throughout the book.
The Cliff House is a book that is full of ups and downs that one experiences through life, love of family, and love in general. It’s nice to read such a refreshing book and I can’t wait to read more by RaeAnne.
This newest book by RaeAnne Thayne hit me right in the feels. I felt the joy, loneliness, love, devastation and unity right along with Stella, Daisy and Bea. I thoroughly enjoyed this story from beginning to end.
I read an advanced copy of this book
Author RaeAnne Thayne has written a book about love, family, sacrifices, and hope, that will take you through so many emotions. The women in this story are all strong in their own ways, yet they depend on each other in ways that only family can. I’ve read many 5-star books from this author. This one is better. If I could give it 6 stars, I would. The characters are incredibly well-developed, the scenery so vivid you feel you are there, and the stories intertwined so well that they slide together seamlessly. This book will grab your heart and stay with you long after you finish reading.
Outstanding story about creating family in all the ways that can happen. Daisy and Bea are sisters raised by their young aunt after being orphaned when their Mother overdosed. We get the story of both of their lives and loves along with Aunt Stella, her sacrifice and love for them and now her desire to have a baby. I loved every word of this book.
Warm, sweet and touching.
A story of family, sisterhood, and connection deeper than time and distance, a tale of love, hope, and trust, a journey to learn to dare to take the leap of love, jump into the unknown, and trust the soulmate will be there to catch you just when you need it.
There’s a lot of living and loving in this story of three women living in a small California coastal town. Ms. Thayne tells stories that go directly to the hearts of the readers. She draws characters that are easy to connect with, to learn to love and care for, to cheer them to live their best life. I loved the message of hope that was the silver lining of the tale, how the ladies used creativity to express themselves, and how dedicated and giving they were regarding the turbulent world of foster care and parenting.
Each of the women was on the threshold of a new chapter in their lives, that included finding the soulmate. There’s the second chance with the first love from college days, there’s the best friend to lovers romance, and there’s the practical sister falling completely and unpractically in love with a man visiting the town. Each romance is sweet, with a touch of angst and turbulence. As it often is the case, in my opinion, with simultaneous romances in one book, and multiple points of views to the tale, none of the couples gets the depth and growth, or the potential development that could have been there. Also, with Bea, her best friend and his girlfriend, and her ex, there’s the third – and fourth – person drama in romance that is in general, not for me.
Yet even with these two strikes to my personal wishes or taste in the romance genre, this story had me from the first chapter, it pulled me in and brought all the feels to the surface. There were joy and cheer, passion to life and adoration of the loved ones. I sighed, I teared up, I felt the tension, I felt the loss, the sorrow, the sadness, and also the elation and delight, and most of all the hope, the wish, and trust for the fulfilling future.
An uplifting and inspiring novel that celebrates women, life, love, and family.
A true treasure to read
~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side
I loved this book! It’s a little different from the usual RaeAnne Thayne book in that it is longer with a more complicated story line. Ms. Thayne actually develops three characters in this book. There are two grown sisters and their aunt who took them out of foster care and raised them as her own. The impact foster care had on the sisters is looked into in the book, as well as foster care in general.
The three women, Daisy, Bea and Stella all had love interests in the book, so there were multiple tropes. Daisy’s was a love at first sight, Bea’s was a friends to lovers and Stella’s story was a second chance trope. All three were as complicated as love usually is and just as rewarding in the end. There are other things mixed in the story–a super star ex-husband, a daughter of one of the women, a dog that brings two of the characters together and a secrets (and I mean BIG secrets) kept by two of the women that will rattle their relationship together.
Three love stories in one book! You don’t want to miss this one!
I was given a copy of this book by the author. All thoughts are my own.
After the death of their mother, sisters Daisy and Beatriz Davenport found a home with their Aunt Stella in the beautiful and welcoming town of Cape Sanctuary. The girls never realized what their aunt actually sacrificed for them. The time has come for old secrets and new secrets to come to light, which will change their family forever.
Bea sowed her wild oats by marrying and having a child with the now famous Cruz Romero. They’ve been divorced for several years but he’s now back wanting to try again. However, this interferes with the plans Bea has for trying to start something with a long time friend.
Daisy is so closed off, sensible, and has never taken a risk in her life until she meets a man who challenges her to become her true self.
I’ve read and reviewed many, many books over the years but The Cliff House is one I don’t think I can do justice with a review. It absolutely grabbed my heart and emotions and didn’t let go. This story is not just one love story, it is many wrapped up between the pages of this wonderful book. First is the unselfish love the aunt has for her two nieces who desperately needed her as children. She managed to turn two frightened little girls into great, caring adults. Then there is a love story for all three women. All the characters are strong and well balanced with a story that is entertaining, page turning, and heartbreaking along with some sweet humor as well. I could not put this one down and didn’t want it to end. The Cliff House is a beautifully written story, one I will definitely read more than once.
This novel was so compelling! It was a different writing style than the author has done before and I enjoyed it! She follows the thoughts, feelings and happenings of the lives of a group of people intertwined in the heartwarming story of Stella, Daisy and Bea. Stella is the aunt who put her life on hold years before when Daisy and Bea were young girls and their mother died and needed a guardian. In the present day, in Cape Sanctuary in Northern California, we get to delve into the lives of the 3 women and the people who interact with them. It’s fascinating! There are ups and downs, triumphs and heartaches. I enjoyed every character and seeing how each one grew throughout the book. The emotions the author brought out were phenomenal! I literally had a hard time putting the book down. I wanted to see how each character ended up and was very pleased with their HEA! I definitely recommend this book!
