If you like Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, Vince Flynn’s Mitch Rapp, and Robert Ludlum’s Jason Bourne, you won’t be able to put down the compulsively addictive John Milton series.

Good read.
John Milton’s first adventure! Get started with the world’s most popular assassin in Mark Dawson’s initial offering of this thrilling series!
The first of Mark Dawson’s spectacular John Milton series. Dawson has crafted a very human action hero and a thriller where the action is mixed with realistic and messy human interactions. But Milton is not the traditional flawed hero whose shortcomings make the reader question whether he will succeed. Lord knows the genre has too many of those …
I discovered John Milton as a “secondary” character in the Beatrix Rose novels (In Cold Blood). I enjoyed Mark’s stories about Beatrix, and enjoyed John Milton’s character, so I rushed to read 1000 Yards. That did not disappoint me and neither did The Cleaner. I find myself staying up late to finish Mark Dawson’s books. Now I have my sights on the …
I’ve been listening to Mark Dawson talk about writing for a long time, and I picked up this book a while ago but never got around to reading it. After a slightly iffy start where a policeman is killed, it develops into a really good thriller. I’ve picked up book 2 already, although I probably won’t get to read it straight away. Great work.
John Milton is a great alternative to Lee Child’s Jack Reacher, and The Cleaner is a great introduction to bestselling UK thriller author, Mark Dawson.
I am now on the ninth book of this series. The central character is John Milton, a cross between Jack Reacher and Bourne. These are exciting and engaging plots and you will like Milton!
First in a series
A well-written, exciting thriller, this book was a great introduction to a new action series. The characters have well-developed depth. The protagonist is very good at what he does, but he’s not the infallible, par-excellent, near super-human hero found in so many novels in this genre. He makes mistakes, he miscalculates, … he even misses …
Working for a deep in the shadows organization called “The Office” Quinn is a specialist at making bodies disappear and cleaning up operations that went “messy”.
A fast paced thriller from a master storyteller, that will keep you turning pages till you finish.
Milton’s a winner, Mark Dawson keeps you reading all nigbt.
A+
I enjoyed reading this, and particularly liked that the characters were not all good or all bad. There were no fairy tale endings here, where everyone got what they deserved even if it wasn’t realistic. I appreciate that and am looking forward to reading the next in the series. I couldn’t quite give it five stars, though, for a few reasons. …
Nark Dawson has written a dark thriller. His protagonist is a man with a conscience who has a lot about which to feel guilty. The tale action packed, yet explores the man’s psychology. Mr. Dawson’s prose is lovely, clear, and concise.
good page turner. Not literature, but good light entertainment.
This book is so predictable I think it was written by a computer. Killer decides he doesn’t want to kill anymore so he goes 180. The problem he is trying to solve is so hilariously cliche it’s not funny.
Dawson’s writing is contrite at best. So glad I didn’t have to pay for it. It took me a year to finish it because I knew exactly what was going …
Great Mark Dawson read.
Loved the book and character John Milton. Have read a few and look forward to reading more!
It bothered me the way the lead character had to lead without being sure Elijah was going to stay out of the gang.
terrific book action packed love to read Dawsons books
