Loved the characters and blew through the trilogy too quickly!
Passionate love at first sight Story. I just loved it. Jessica Hawkins rocks.
3.5 stars
I’m a little torn. I am not a fan of infidelity. I loved the H most of the time but the h at times was too much for me. She was weak and indecisive. Instead of feelings of angst in the story it was more anger. She was a little annoying at times.
But it was a nice HEA.
I enjoy Jessica Hawkins work but didn’t love it.
What an amazing journey!! Each book just gripped you! Temptation led to an affair, which led to Love!! So compelling!! Fantastic series!!
How do I even BEGIN to describe this story? It’s taken me two full days to put my feelings into words, and even now, I don’t think I can do them justice.
Just…WOW.
David + Eliza’s love story was the stuff of soulmates. Angsty, erotic and anxiety-building in the most delicious way, this book will take you on a roller coaster of emotions as you witness the forbidden connection grow between sexy architect David Dylan and the (very) married, semi-content Olivia Germaine.
You FEEL every breath. Every kiss. Every stolen moment as you root for these two to get the happily-ever-after they (and those who believe in soulmates) so richly deserve.
This trilogy CONSUMED my weekend. I barely slept, barely ate, barely functioned outside of reading this book.
If there’s any romance you need in your life, it’s THIS one. Loved this series with every fiber of my being. GRAB THIS + READ THIS TRILOGY RIGHT NOW!
Come undone
Come Undone is about the unplanned and unexpected attraction between a married woman and a unobtainable playboy. Olivia and Bill have been married for almost five years. They are both career driven individuals who balance time between friends and themselves. With no children to tie them down they are free to go in weekend trips and work away from home.
Bill pursued Olivia at work asking her on a date until she finally said, “yes”. Olivia never gave the idea of marriage much thought. She knew she didn’t want an abusive relationship. She found contentment and safety in her marriage to Bill until he pressured her for more.
Olivia works an Assistant editor for the Chicago Metropolitan Magazine. Her assignment is to interview Chicago’s Most Eligible Bachelors and Bachelorettes. For years the magazine has wanted to interview David Dylan for the article. Not until Olivia became the editor did David finally agree. Sparks buzzed between them as they found themselves tangled together by the same social circles.
Overall:
It’s more than seduction. It’s drawing ones mind out of the fog sense of complacency. Jessica teeters the edge of forbidden wickedly. She has me craving all the wrong reasons for cheating. How can it be wrong when it feels so right?
Come Undone will have you questioning your morals between right and wrong. Certain lines will be crossed, yet under the circumstances they will have you confused if they are being unfaithful.
Jessica is my go to girl when I’m in the mood for a good sexy read. What’s better is her ability to write a well thought out and thought provoking cheating romance.
He’s the other man, but I’m certain you will fall in love with David for his motives are purely sinful. He’s a man devoted to making Olivia his.
Stories such as these bring about much debate. I love both the positive and negative comments this story produces. The battle is real. The feelings are strong. The pain is heartbreaking. The pleasure is addictive.
Narrator:
Andy Arndt is the queen of audiobook romance. Andy brought Olivia’s character to life. Andy is a narrator, producer, and coach. She is a household name in the audiobook world. When I see her name attached to an audiobook I know I’m getting my money’s worth. Quality work is what you’ll get. She’s a top performer and an award winning artist.
You can’t go wrong owning an audiobook narrated by Andi Arndt. Every book she narrates is enhanced by her performance skills.
Come Alive
On the outside Olivia looked perfect. On the inside she was screaming for help. Olivia was drowning in guilt as well as fear from her past. Olivia poured all her energy into work shutting both Bill and David out emotionally.
Olivia’s character finally takes the time to process her emotions. Being with another man has given her new clarity on her marriage with Bill. She’s opened her eyes to herself.
Overall:
I could relate to Olivia’s doubts and concerns about herself and her relationship with her husband. Her concerns were plausible reasons for having fears of moving forward.
What really pulls the reader in is David’s honesty. He faces each situation head on and really reads Olivia. He’s dialed in to her mannerisms, her body language, and her tells. I know David is older but he also seemed wiser. The way he knew how to guide Olivia was perfection. He was in tune to her emotional state.
Jessica’s writing style lines up with my interest of an emotionally driven story. The way she captured Olivia’s emotions had me pausing to recount my own feelings. I share so many personality traits with Olivia’s character. I couldn’t help but compare her situation to my own.
I couldn’t help but get attached to David as well. His motives were honorable despite the circumstances. I found his qualities attractive with how he could withhold his desire to build a better relationship.
Come together
Bill is a lawyer who practices law based on the right and wrong theory leaving no room for the grey area. His personal life is met by the same standards. Bill doesn’t make room or allow for emotions to rule choices. He bases his reasoning on clear direct answers. In his marriage, Olivia’s fears plays an interesting factor in how he makes decisions. He views her fears as her setbacks and something she must address on her own. While Olivia views her fears as a sign that the person she’s with is not right for her. The fears stem from a place of doubt for a reason and should be expressed and dealt with together. As Olivia factors in her fears with how Bill makes decisions she learns to stand up for herself in ways she never did before.
Overall:
Bill’s character had an analytical perspective which formulated well as a lawyer. Jessica illustrated his logical sense with Olivia so convincingly. At times I almost forget I’m reading a fictional character because the way she writes her characters is so similar to real life individuals. It’s easy to connect and identify certain characteristics.
You know what I think about as I read the sexual nature of David’s character? I think how obvious that it’s written by a female writer because if a man wrote those sex scenes they certainly would be lacking in the angst department. Men have a tendency to focus on the physical need while women focus on the emotional need. This right here is what separates the two types of writers. Jessica creates these book boyfriends just for us women. It’s no wonder my list of book boyfriends is extremely long. When a woman writes a male character devoting his attention to a woman’s emotional side it is by the sexiest thing in the world.
It was not the ending I was expecting, yet it was in true Jessica fashion. She likes to create realistic situations with her unconventional choices. It’s so easy to get invested in these characters and want a different outcome after all Jessica put a lot of time and effort in developing her characters. David and Olivia worked in this story and it ended the way Jessica intended it to. This is what separates her from all the other authors. She’s not afraid to go against the grain by offering another form of unconditional love.
What a great love affair. And make sure you understand there was an affair, but how do you deny what your soul cannot live without when you find the one for you.
Avid was a man to be reckoned with and Olivia was a wreck without knowing it. I actually had a hard time liking Liv throughout this series, but she won me over in the end. My heart hurt for Bill and the pain they all went through for love to come out on top.
I devoured all three books back to back and it was worth the sleepless nights! Great series.
Holy HOTNESS, this series is an emotional ride!
Yes, this series is about a love triangle, but I guarantee you will FEEL with every page you turn. Whether you’re upset about the situation, you’re hot for David (cuz let’s be honest, we all are!!!), or you love to hate Olivia; there isn’t a page you will read that pulls you from the brink; it’s an emotional ride from start to finish!
Jessica Hawkins is one of my all time favorite authors, she is THE queen of angst and this series will put you through the ringer with angst! But it’s raw and emotional, it’s tender and sweet, it’s painful and real, it’s people at their best and their worst, and it’s Hot as Hell!
I loved this series the first time I read it, and I loved it just as much if not more with the refreshed content and added epilogue! You don’t want to miss this, I guarantee you a great ride!!
If you haven’t read The Cityscape Affair, it has a new look, revised content and bonus epilogue. Even better than the first time around! This is next on my binge list.
An all consuming read from one of my favorite authors!
I can’t believe it took me so long to read this trilogy. The topic and content that is the center of this book was angsty and emotional. It’s intensity shook parts of me and held me captivated throughout. I loved David Dylan!
Jessica Hawkins never disappoints!
Do you believe on Soulmate? I DO.
Cityscape Affair was the one story that had kept me thinking. Forbidden, Taboo all you named it. The title had really pushed me to embark with the sensitive issues. Im not gonna lie that I wasnt comfortable with it.
Olivia was a fragile soul and at times, I cant stand her. I grew my fondness with Olivia because of her genuine soul to find love and be happy again. Was she hard to love? Yes, I struggle to see the fallen and the pain of being hurt. I didnt condone what happened was right. Olivia and David had clawed my heart into pieces. Its gonna get worse before it get better.
David Dylan, my man.. You are the perfect sexy boyfriend. Olivia is a lucky woman to have your love. You had pushed through what true love is. It never an easy subject! Cityscape affair was an intimate love with passion. It stirred my thought that love will happen when you meet your soulmate. David and Olivia didnt go down without a fight. Its their love and strong bond to keep it going.

David Dylan, alleged playboy and Chicago’s most eligible bachelor, awakens a passion in Olivia she buried long ago. He knows who she is. He knows what she wants. And he can give it to her. If only she’ll give in…

The series is phenomenal
If you want to read a story that will have you on the edge of your seat, this is it. the The Cityscape Affair Trilogy
is FIRE!!! David and Olivia are the definition of a power couple.
Olivia is a married woman, but a woman who isn’t happy in her marriage, she wants more, she needs more. When she meets David, her world gets the thrill she has been looking for. This book had all the feels, David was and will always be one of my favorites, he is so possessive and I LOVE THAT!! I love how he meets Olivia and knows what he wants.
This trilogy is truly an epic one, you will be on the edge of your seat wanting more of this fire couple.
Jessica Hawkins has combined her three Cityscape books into one glorious box set, along with a brand spanking new extended epilogue, which means you have several hours of David Dylan at your fingertips.
The first book–my favorite of the trio–focuses on David’s relationship with Olivia, a married woman he locks eyes with and cannot let go of, despite her having a husband. You want them together, even as you feel Olivia’s reluctance to end her marriage. She doesn’t want to fail her husband or her own idea of marriage, yet the pull to David is too strong.
The second and third books focus on David and Olivia’s relationship and the conflicts they face. Her husband digs his heels in, for one thing, and there are other issues the duo must confront. If the third book lacks the sizzling conflict of its predecessors, it does not lack their sizzling sexy times. David Dylan is ALL the Hot Hero things.
Jessica Hawkins treats you to an extended epilogue that gives you some new scenes with David and Olivia. I liked the consistency of the characters here. Olivia’s relationship with her former best friend gets a look, as does a particular decision she and David made.
I know books with infidelity are a turn-off for some. Trust Jessica Hawkins to show you the way here. Yes, there were times when I felt for Olivia’s husband, but it’s patently clear that she had not waited long enough to meet her soulmate.
I adore David Dylan (in case that hasn’t been made quite clear), and having all three of his books plus a new epilogue together in one set is a treat, one I hope you take the time to enjoy.
I enjoyed all 3 of these books. The characters were great and a range of emotions for the reader. The storyline wanted you to keep reading!
I enjoyed this series and if you can appreciate a love that doesn’t come easy, I think you will too. This series puts you through an emotional wringer. David and Olivia’s story is packed with tension, drama, turmoil, angst and heat. This is the type of read that not only engages your heart but also forces you to think about what you would do if you found yourself in such a situation. There are no easy answers but plenty of pain to be had as this gripping tale unfolds. This is my sincere review that I am posting of my own accord.
Wow!! What a series!! I can’t believe I spent three nights staying awake reading but this series kept me mesmerized.
Come Undone- A very emotional story of Olivia and Bill who have been married for five years. She believes she has everything she could ask for until she looks across the theatre at a Ballet one night and her eyes locked with a dark and handsome stranger, David Dylan.
Come Alive- A continuation of Come Undone, the story of Olivia, Bill, and David becomes more intense. The chemistry between Olivia and David is unmistakable, There are so many emotions involved that I was frustrated and breathless all at the same time.
Come Together- This is the last book of the series. We learn a lot about Olivia’s past and why she is the way she is. David, the playboy, shows that he is protective and loving. What happens between Olivia, Bill, and David? Who can give her the love and support that she needs? This series kept me all messed up, not knowing what was going to happen until the end. It is a great series! I would highly recommend it.
I Love this Emotional & Provocative Romance!
Come Undone
~ Wow, what an emotional and thought provoking story. I was so totally captivated from the very beginning and couldn’t stop reading. Olivia and Bill have been married for over three years and they seem to have it all, a loving relationship, successful careers, and good friends. But when her eyes lock on a gorgeous man at the theater one night, they both seem to connect and see into their hidden places. David Dylan is a charming, sexy, playboy. He has women falling at his feet, but nothing satisfies him, until her. He can’t stop thinking about Olivia and knows she is meant to be his. Olivia fights her attraction to David, but he makes her want to open up, and feel things no man, including her husband, has been able to accomplish. No matter how hard she fights her feelings, she comes undone whenever he is near. I wasn’t sure I would, but I liked both Olivia, and David and I could feel the sizzling chemistry between them, but sometimes they would make me so frustrated and mad I wanted to yell at them! But l don’t read to judge, but to try and understand people, and to feel every emotion they do, good and bad. This story is so beautifully written, helping us to understand, if only a little, the reasoning behind their complex thoughts, feelings and actions. There were some heart pounding plot twists that took my breath away and made this story even more thrilling. I am completely invested in all of these characters, and I need to know what happens to them next in book #2, Come Alive!
Come Alive
~ I was so excited to find out what would happen to Olivia after the heartbreaking ending in the last book. This second book is even more compelling and thought provoking as the first one was. We learn more about each character, giving them a richness and depth that makes them even more intriguing. I loved the push and pull between Olivia, David and Bill. My sympathies ebbed and flowed as this story grappled with the idea of either settling into a good, safe life or fighting for the soul mate who makes you come alive?! This story has challenged me in every way and I didn’t always like their decisions and actions, but life is messy, never perfect, and it allows us to find beauty in those imperfections. I am so invested in these characters along with their friends who add so much to this story as well. The ending left me breathless and I can’t start the next book fast enough!
Come Together
~ What a perfect conclusion to this emotional, and sizzling romance! I couldn’t wait to find out what happened after the way book #2 ended and I was not disappointed! This wasn’t an easy journey for anyone. Olivia had to learn to trust in a man who was the biggest risk to her heart and her sanity while leaving her safe world behind. It could cost her everything, including family and friends. David had to fight to get Olivia to give him her everything, while proving he was more than his past. But when a relationship starts the way theirs did, will they be able to build something strong to last forever? I loved the way their relationship stumbled and grew. The way that Olivia blossomed and came alive was so beautiful. David was so thoughtful, protective, deliciously dominant, and totally swoony! I love how Ms Hawkins didn’t cut corners with their story, but allowed us to feel every thought, and emotion that Olivia, and David experienced. Her writing is so beautiful, and moving, and the banter and levity between her characters makes them feel genuine and easy to relate to. I wasn’t sure I would, but I loved everything about this captivating and sizzling story of hope, second chances, forgiveness and unconditional love.
