I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
The Church is the third book in The Cloister Trilogy from Celia Aaron. You must read The Maiden and The Prophet before reading The Church, which is the conclusion to the trilogy.
Trapped. Beaten. Broken. Adam destroyed himself to save me. At first, I doubt if I have the strength to go on. But with every second that passes, I seethe and curse the Prophet. My time as a Maiden is over. I refuse to be a toy in his game any longer. But there’s always more ways for the Prophet to get to me, to use me, and to keep me under his influence. Will I be strong enough to break free?
Oh holy goodness. I can not tell you how excited I was to get this book in my hands. I was left like the rest of you with my mouth on the floor and my heart in my mouth at the conclusion of The Prophet. Adam was in such a shocking mess and I was a mess right along with is mess because you have to love Adam and Noah. This is where you get all the answers to every question you have ever had during this series. Some are so shocking and other time your going to be cheering your head off. I can not go into one tiny detail of this story for fear of giving something away!!! However if you love dark books you do not want to miss this series. It is one of the best ones I have ever read. To say it freaked me out is an understatement but I loved every single second of it!!!
The Church an EPIC conclusion to this magnificent story!
Undoubtedly, The Cloister is THE BEST SERIES I have ever read. This series pushed every boundary I thought I had yet still left me panting and blood thirsty for more. If you like dark, gritty, twisty, sexy suspenseful stories – one click now! This series will rock your ever lovin’ world!
I cannot gush enough about this brilliant author. Celia Aaron is incredibly talented, insanely creative and BLEW MY MIND at every turn. I can’t believe it’s done. I even slowed down my reading pace to really savor this last installment because I can’t get enough. Maybe we’ll get a spin off?
This story, these characters…are everything! I have read plenty of books that have given me all the feels. However, nothing compares to LEVEL OF EMOTIONS I experienced here. I’ve felt excited in the midst of suspense. I’ve felt aroused during intimate scenes. I’ve felt frustration towards villains. Twisty, gritty yet redeeming and fulfilling. Complicated and confusing. Fantastic experience all evoked by this author’s words! Gah! I wanted more deception, more conspiring and I was especially hungry for the villain’s to get what they deserved. Not sure I’ve ever felt so passionate about wanting a character to die a painful death more than during The Church.
Along this twisted journey, I fell a little more in love with Adam as each chapter passed. Next thing I know Noah is starting to stand out too. He’s no longer the weak, cowardly, loyal follower everyone (especially his father) believes him to be. He starts to come over to the dark side with Adam and together these two are a such a force. Despite doing their evil fathers bidding over the years, these two have to figure out everyone else’s plans for the destruction of Heavenly and risk everything to stop mass murder.
Delilah is one of the most bad donkey heroines ever written. What she endures, what drives her and continues to motivate her to do what ever it takes to get revenge for Georgia is absolutely astounding. Especially marrying the nasty senator. Evan is one sick bastard. How she is strong enough to take everything dished her way is beyond me. Although Delilah joins to the cloister to avenge her sisters murder – whose killer by the way had me gasping in surprise – who she has to take on to survive was gut wrenching yet I was rooting for her with every swing! See, blood thirsty. And when she nails one of her targets, kisses her forehead and mumbles parting words – holy mother off all the witty lines ever written!
I can’t recommend this series or this author enough. So worth the wild ride!
Five EPIC stars! This is Celia Aaron at her best. It is a must read for every dark romance lover all around the worl.
Holy m*rde! The Church drained me emotionally and physically like no other book before in a long time. My soul craves dark romance and Celia Aaron is one of the few authors that can tame that specific craving of mine. Her books are darkly intense and mind-blowing. Each book of her has a special place in my heart. I can assure you that The Cloister Series is Celia Aaron at her best. Her writing is witty, deep, sharp, dark and sizzling. She poured her beautiful and twisted heart in every book of this series. I am blown away!
For those who have read Celia’s books before you will agree with me that The Church was an epic, violent, bloody and intense end for one of the best series of the Dark Romance in 2018. This book is everything and more. I waited patiently for this one and let me tell you that I am not disappointed. As always, Celia exceeded my expectations. I simply can’t get enough of her writing. The turns and twists of this series were deliciously obscure and freaking insane.
I experienced a roll coaster of emotions. It made my blood cold and hot at the same time. I cried and hated with the intensity of a star. It makes me sick that some disturbed people use religion as a weapon. Only human beings can twist something that should be pure and holy.
The Church is the conclusion of Adam and Delilah-Emily’s story. The journey of these two has been raw, tough, and full of lies and violence. I really don’t know how Celia packed all this to deliver a wonderful end where everyone gets what they deserve. The sick game is finally over. After all the terror, plots and threats Adam and Emily will be stronger and together will be the downfall of the monster, the wolf THAT hides in sheep skin, the evil personified!
I highly recommend you this book. The Cloister Trilogy is a must read for every dark romance lover all around the world. The Church has the right amount of depravity, secrets, murders, chaos and mayhem; all packed in a sinful, unique, original, magisterial masterpiece. I spent the greatest time of my life while reading this book. I was at the edge of my sit, ignoring all the world around me. This book shocked me and consumed me in many ways. I felt like a little girl in a candy shop.
The pacing is fast. The plot is well developed as in the other books. There are not loose ends. Celia did and excellent work as always. She created a depraved world where everything is dark, dirty and nasty. The characters are strong and courageous. They endure the worst of the worst, especially Delilah. She wanted the true about what happened to her sister. And she got it. The cost worthed every scar in her skin and soul. In the darkness she discovered a temptation personied. Adam awoke her darkest desires. This book is the redemption of two souls that fought against evil. It is more than a beautiful cover and words. It is imperfect perfection that is above of any book I have the pleased to read.
This is the final installment in The Cloister series. And wow, is it a book worth waiting for. I was so looking forward to reading it because I knew it would be intense, and I wasn’t disappointed at all.
Adam has been left hanging due to his father’s punishment. While Noah thinks that their father might spare Adam, Adam knows otherwise. He’s going to be left there to die, however that death may happen. As long as Delilah is safe, he’s OK with that. He does everything he can and makes deals with as many people as he can to make sure that she is safe. When he gets taken down and hidden away, his father goes even crazier than he was before.
Meanwhile, Delilah is panicked about what’s happening to Adam and is worried about him and what’s going to happen to him. She still plans on burning Heavenly to the ground, metaphorically speaking, and will do everything she can to make that happen. She’s terrified of marrying the senator because of the things that he’s said that he will do to her and told him that she will kill him.
There are at least 3 separate plans and plots going on at any one time during this book. There may be more, but it can be hard to tell because the plans are all wrapped up in each other and they split and come back together and diverge and meld over and over again. Watching all those plans and trying to figure out what the ultimate goal of each of those plans is really interesting. They all have some of the same goals, but the reason for those goals is different for each plan, and the reasons aren’t necessarily all that sane. In fact, most of the plotters aren’t necessarily sane. But, can you be sane in the situation that all of these people have found themselves in or are do you basically have the not sane and the more not sane? Really interesting questions, and ones that will stay with me while I reread the entire series.
Celia Aaron is so good at what she does and I can’t ever wait to read what she’s done.
5 DARK TWISTED STARS!! This book is the conclusion to one of the best dark twisted series I have ever read. Adam and Delilah’s love story never lets up with all the angst, suspense and craziness, you can not turn the pages quick enough. Celia Aaron never lets me down with her fantastic storytelling, she is the dark queen of authors. If you love dark and twisted this is one trilogy you will want to read.
OMG !!! I have an epic book hangover !!! What a journey the author just gave us. It really is one of the best dark series of all time and the best one I read in 2018. I love all Mrs. Aaron’s books, but this is definitely the best, every page left me breathless and with my heart in the mouth.
The author gives us a book full of action, violence, lies, plans, threats, death, pain, secrets and unexpected twists that had me hooked from start to finish.
This third installment is the conclusion of the Cloister Trilogy. After reading The Maiden and its cliffhanger I was desperate to know how everything would be resolved, but I got what I wanted and much more, so many surprises, so many twists, and doubts from everyone and everything, friends, allies and enemies where I thought least, even though I had made certain assumptions, I never expected all the surprises that came up.
The prophet and the protectors got what they deserved, Grace, still had certain reservations with her, but her ending was so perfect, and she also got what she deserved (her soul so dark and twisted did not deserve anything else), and I enjoyed and savored every moment.
Noah, my poor Noah, my heart hurts so much for him, broke it a thousand times, and he was a vital character in the plot. I hope the author reads this and really offers us a story for him and his happy ending.
Adam was always so nice, always thinking about others, and Emily, I loved her, so brave, so strong, willing to sacrifice for others. Their scenes are so hot, erotic and so sexy, but at the same time so tender, I loved them, they are just perfect for each other. (They made me sigh, cry and blush with them)
This is a perfect conclusion for a perfect, dark, painful, and erotic series like few others. It is definitely a must read book.
VERY, very recommended.
The Church is the last book in The Cloister series. It made my bloodthirsty heart shed tears of joy. While I found it satisfying and a fitting end for the most part, it left me a bit dissatisfied because of a loose thread. I don’t want to say much about it because I don’t want to spoil the experience for others but I wish it had been tied up. However, it’s still a solid read that I recommend to all.

This was the perfect ending to this series! It wrapped up everything perfectly. Adam and Delilah both had to go thru hell, but at the end it was worth it. It was a wild rollercoaster getting to that end though! I was really happy with the way things played out with both Noah and Grace! I’d like to see Noah get his HEA though. Maybe when we find out what happened with Evan?
All in all, it was absolutely worth the wait, it was a great read! I loved this almost as much as I did the Acquisition series, and that’s saying alot!!
4.5 Gripping Stars!
Wow, what a heartrending and suspenseful conclusion to this series! Once again this story picks up where the last book left off and hit the ground running. Delilah is done being a maiden after seeing all that the Prophet was capable of, including the heinous torture of his son Adam. She is no longer after closure for her sisters death, but is now after blood. Delilah has been changed after being subjected to so much terror and violence. Adam is also ready to exact his revenge and will do whatever it takes to protect Delilah. Unfortunately there are others who have their own secrets and agendas. This story has several twists and turns that had my heart racing from beginning to end! This unique, and powerful series is perfect for fans of dark, raw and heartrending stories.
Well that’s how you wrap up a series. After the way the Prophet ended I was desperate for some answers. There were scores I wanted settled and people I wanted to die in the most painful way possible. Let’s just say I got more than I’d bargained for and everything I’d hoped for.
‘You reap what you sow’ comes to mind.
This book was all consuming from the beginning, I couldn’t stop reading my pulse was racing the entire time. My jaw was literally on the fuxxing floor.
The world of the Cloister is way beyond twisted it’s absolutely terrifying.
My love for Adam just grew to new heights in this book. But surprisingly so did my love for Noah, he really came into his own in this one. I’ve never really paid him much attention I found him a little weak and dull. Now I feel he stole the show a bit, he definitely grew on me.
Delilah well I absolutely adore her, this girl is so brave.
My heart was in my mouth for her at times because she just can’t keep quiet. She pushes and damn the consequences but that’s why I like her she’s a little spitfire and a survivor.
Celia Aaron has created a fantastic deeply disturbing look into a world I’d never wish to be a part of but can’t help being fascinated by.
Are you brave enough to venture into the Cloister? You’ll never know until you try.
Just don’t sign up to become a Maiden. 😉
If The Church were made into a movie, I feel like Quentin Tarantino would be the first to sign on. The dark and decisions nature would be easy for him. The blood, brutality, and evil an after thought for his twisted mind. Clearly, Celia Aaron must lunch with him on the regular.
Okay, maybe she doesn’t but maybe…
The Church is the culmination of everything that The Prophet sowed. Boy, did that harvest get reaped! Twisted lines from The Bible and ungodly acts fall upon the prophet the only way they can. The first stone was cast by only those who could throw them. Yes, I totally got a sick sense of satisfaction watching the prophet’s world crumble. I danced a joyful number to the destruction of the evil. I will celebrate the demise of Heavenly from my sinner’s chair. I may not be holy but boy am I righteous.
The Church is the saving grace of this journey. A big thank you for sticking by this tainted, twisted story. The Cloister is a young woman’s desperate ploy to find her sister’s killer. Desperate being the word. She falls further into the rabbit hole than she ever could have imagined. Along the way she’s had “help” but nothing as soul warming as The Church. It’s not an easy trip. Delilah will experience far more suffering before the light at the end of the tunnel. But what a beautiful light it is!!!
Now I’m just waiting for the final piece of the puzzle to click into alignment.
Review for Sweet Spot Sisterhood
The Church by Celia Aaron is book Three in The Cloister series. This book continues the story of Adam and Delilah, so you do need to read the previous books “The Maiden” and “The Prophet
The Prophet” first. ‘The Church’ picks up where ‘The Prophet left off.
This has been such a dark and exciting romance. It played out like a movie for me wondering what would happen next. Some parts were hard to get through but their love story was worth reading through them. I almost hate to see end but I have been hoping to see their happy ending.
If you love a Dark Romance then this series is for you. For those with trigger issues then I wouldn’t think this would be for you.
This is the action packed, thrilling conclusion to this wild ride of The Cloister series. This story was everything I wanted an more. I could not put it down and might have gotten a bit snarky when people tried to interrupt my reading! Be ready for a ride because you will not want to put it down.
I will not give anything away, I will simply state how amazing this story was. It was a pleasure to read and I am thrilled with the outcome. I cannot explain how happy I an for Adam and Delilah. Their love was a long time coming and they worked really hard to get their HEA. There were a few scenes that made me uncomfortable a bit, but that is just because of the plot line. They were nothing bed, I have just become so attached to these characters that I was a bit protective of them.
I am beyond impressed with this book and this series. I didn’t think anything could top The Acquisition Series but this might have done it! Any fans of this series, this author or dark well written and detailed stories will love this book. Now off to read the entire series on one read!
Gah!! I swear Celia Aaron is one of my Queens of the Dark and Depraved because there wasn’t a time I sat reading The Church where I wasn’t either shocked, consumed, addicted and absolutely glued to my seat obsessed with finishing this story. The Church was absolutely fantastic. I loved the conclusion to Delilah and Adam’s story and could not get enough of this series!!
Going into this series and after having read the first two books I knew that this author would blow my mind in the final book but I honestly was not expecting how shocking The Church would be. All the revelations and secrets would not stop coming!! GAHH!! THIS BOOK WAS MINDBLOWING!! Without revealing any spoilers, The Church follows the shocking ending to The Prophet where Adam was now at the mercy off The Prophet. But would Delilah be able to rescue the man she loved while exposing the truths she needed?
Good Lord, people!! This series was legit phenomenal. It was sexy, suspenseful, and so shocking. It had everything I love in a dark story and more. I loved how the author was able to tie everything together and still blow my mind at the end. Furthermore, I loved that despite it being dark and disturbing we were still able to see the true love and connection between Adam and Delilah. Everyone seriously needs to read this book and this series as a whole because it can’t be topped! Bravo! 5 stars! ~Ratula
