This Bible-based fiction series was riveting. I wanted to finish each book to get to the next one. I always enjoy Lynn Austin’s writing.
Excellent series. Want to read more historical fiction by this author.
I absolutely loved. these books. They brought Old Testament stories to life. Definitely re-reads.
Remarkable how it followed the Scriptures!!! Excellent writing!!!
I couldn’t put it down!!! This is the second time I have read this series and enjoyed it so much more this time!!!
THE RESEARCH INTO the history and the Bible makes this series a fictional reenactment of the Kings and Chronicles. Amazing how much more sense the Bible makes when viewed thru the eyes of real characters. History is accurate and explains a lot about what the time of Israel was like. Highly recommend.
This book was wonderful to read. It is inspirational and historical
These books are wonderful. I just couldn’t put them down. I liked the way they stayed true to Biblical accounts. They make the Old Testament come alive. Good character development. Have a Kleenex handy.
Wonderful inspiration. Very moving.
A well done version of Old Testament Scripture. The characters come alive as the story is told in modern updated ways.
Read One book and you want to go onto the next to follow the story completely.
Chronicles of the Kings isn’t just one book. It’s several. One need not read all through the series, to have the satisfaction of finishing a story. This is one series of many by Ms Austin, and one of her best.
Ms Austin wastes no time. Action is on the first page of each story, in this collection and her others. These stories are about a time in the Old Testament that isn’t covered in children’s books–it can be really graphic–the action on the first page is about King Ahab sacrificing his son, the prince, to Molech. Later in the stories, Jerusalem is under siege. More sensitive readers may want to select a different story. On the other hand, men may prefer this series to others of Ms Austin’s; I believe this is the only series with all male protagonists.
There is plenty for a Christian or Jew to learn from, and in the best way–by example. To select a few characters, I particularly appreciated the characterizations of Isaiah and Ezra, whose eponymous books I have studied in the Bible, but I never considered what kind of people they were. Isaiah and Hezekiah were committed believers, and their prayers are shown to be answered.
I hope you have as hard a time putting these down, as I did.
It transported me back and I understood what life was like in that time an place.
Lynn Austin bring the Biblical world and people alive and makes us realize we are just as fragile and need to be faithful.
Christian fiction based on historical characters and events.
