I just finished this book. I like to read books about Christmas around the holidays. It is a really fast read. I read it in one day. Excellent!!
Good Read
I originally got into Amish fiction because of Amanda Flower’s Amish Candy Shop cozy mystery series.
Wanda E. Brunstetter’s reputation as one of the co-founders of the Amish fiction genre is well-deserved. This is the second novel that I’ve read (the first being White Amish Christmas Pie) and I enjoyed it as much as the first. Looking forward to reading more of her extensive body of work
A 1880’s romance that almost ended because of a lie that was told years before. Luckily the lie was exposed and it all worked out. Easy reading and a different type story by Wanda.
If you are looking for a wonderful book to read during the holiday season, or anytime of the year, I would like to recommend Wanda Brunstetter’s The Christmas Secret.
The story is set in Allentown, Pennsylvania in the year 1880. Elizabeth Canning is already to wed her sweetheart, David Stinner on Christmas Eve.
Just before their “big day” Elizabeth comes across a journal belonging to her Aunt Lovia, While reading it, she comes across a family secret that could change her wedding plans. Elizabeth leaves and goes to live with her grandparents while David sets out to find the answer to this revelation written by Elizabeth’s aunt.
What is the secret that can change Elizabeth’s plans to marry the one she loves.
Will this revelation keep the couple from becoming man and wife.
I found this short Christmas novella to be very well written and the characters very likable and strong. The bottom pages of the book were decorated with evergreen, which I found very appealing. At the back of the book the author, Wanda Brunstetter has included three recipes , Gingerbread, Grandma’s Bread, and Brown Sugar Pudding, for her readers to try.
This story is a good reminder to be careful of, not only what we speak, but also of what we write! Written words found many years later can harm, as Elizabeth was to find!
What a sweet book! It gives a lovely picture of love and engagement.
VIts very heart warming.
Nice story
It was good. Could have been longer with some more character development, but a quick easy read.
Unpredictable!
I love the Christian Amish books. I find them heartwarming and reliable.
This is a sweet Christmas story with heart felt characters, enjoy
This had original plot and unexpected turns. Perfect to curl up in a comfortable chair on vacation or take a mini vacation at home.
I enjoyed this book. I was surprised it wasn’t an Amish book. But it was very good.
A good story with a twist. Very enjoyable.
I enjoyed this book. Nice little book by Brunsette . Always enjoy her works
Quick read
Too short and not enough plot. Disappointing.
I enjoy the author’s writing style. It is easy to read, and I am drawn in quickly.
