Murder in Christmas River
While feeding a stray dog on her shop’s back stoop, Cinnamon Peter encounters a drunk, attractive stranger … who turns out to be her high school crush, Daniel Brightman, now a former police lieutenant from Fresno, California. However, Cinnamon doesn’t have time to deal with him, because the dog she’s feeding – whom she named Huckleberry – leads her to the body of his master frozen in the snow. Turns out the corpse is Mason Barstow, one of the annual Gingerbread Junction judges.
Sheriff Trumbow, an exceptionally lazy law enforcement officer, considers Cinnamon his only suspect simply because she found his body behind her shop. A TV news crew is present for the competition, and Trumbow tries to burnish his image by arresting the pie lady on camera, but loyal Huckleberry, who’s been adopted by Daniel, reveals the identity of the murderer right in front of the cameras for everyone to witness. Roll to three!
Mayhem in Christmas River
It’s Christmas in July in Christmas River, and the festivities reach such a fever pitch some tourists actually believe it’s December 25. Helping perpetuate that myth is Cinnamon, who’s been drafted to play Mrs. Claus in the annual play, and is in rehearsal when Kara’s shop, Ornate Ornaments, goes up in flames.
Daniel has decided to run for sheriff to replace Trumbow, who was demoted in the wake of the Gingerbread Junction debacle, and knows what kind of relationship he wants with Cinnamon. However, her heart is too frightened to agree. In the meantime, a friend of Daniel’s from Fresno, Stephanie Calder, has come to Christmas River looking for her younger brother and seeking Daniel’s help. Then another business, Valley Corson’s floral shop, billows smoke and fire, and Daniel acknowledges an arsonist is on the loose. Turns out the criminal is hiding in plain sight, but will Daniel figure it out in time to save another business – and its proprietor – from the flames?
And just how will Cinnamon answer Daniel’s question?
Madness in Christmas River
Cinnamon is preparing for her December wedding when her Aunt Marie, who’s really just a friend of Cin’s late mother, breezes into town without notice, as is her habit. So does Sully Coe, a former sheriff who now enjoys life in Puerto Rico.
Marie usually says goodbye when she leaves, but this time she just vanished, worrying her devoted niece. Deputy McHale is also acting even more reserved than usual, positively exuding icicles.
Daniel is called back to Fresno to help with an investigation, leaving Cinnamon to deal with Marie’s sudden disappearance, Deputy McHale’s strange behavior, and a masked man shattering her windshield with a fearless threat. Will she find Marie, decipher McHale’s oddities, and find out who destroyed an essential part of her wedding? Will she and Daniel even make it to the altar?
I will be reading more of this series!
I just started reading this series and I am really liking it. I like the characters and the stories too. I enjoy reading a series that has already been going for awhile so I can read through the books already written and get a real connection with the characters and storyline if I like it – and I do like this one a lot! Looking forward to the next 3 book set!
My first read by Meg Muldoon. I enjoyed it, it was really good.i like the idea of reading a few books together. It continues & you get to know the characters. I recommend you, read it.
Enjoyed the characters. Great stories with good plots!
Love her books…fun to read
Very enjoyable!
Nice winter time cozy read.
The characters make the books. Enjoyable reads
I am currently reading the last (so far) book in this multi-volume series. It is addictive. The stories range from very sweet to very suspenseful to including red herrings so the endings are usually surprises to me. How a humble pie maker rekindles a romance with the future sheriff is sweet, but my favorite character is her elderly grandfather Warren who, in his 80s, takes off the visit Scotland and comes back with a lovely wife and the makings of a popular brewery. He’s quite a character! I’d hate to see this series ever end!
What a great series. The stories are original and the characters are realistic. These are truly enjoyable.
I loved these books and am looking forward to reading the next set,. There with and easy to read.
The Christmas River Cozy Mysteries take place in Christmas River, Oregon where it’s Christmas all year, due to the almost constant tourist traffic as the town has marketed itself (such as a Christmas in July celebration) since the mills closed a number of years ago. Books 1-3 were a fun read over the holidays with interesting characters, romance, mystery including somewhat unbelievable plots and lots of action. There are even a couple of cute dogs who keep things moving and help in the solving of several unusual mysteries.
I enjoyed the books. They are a light fun read but marred, in my opinion, by innumerable errors which should have been caught by a good editor. That being said, I’m on to books 4 and 5 so it’s obvious I wasn’t too bothered. Happy reading!
I loved the characters and the small town life they lived. There were loving family relationships and friends who cared about each other. Then throw in romance and a happy ending to make a “feel good” experience.
Love this cozy mystery series by Meg Muldoon. Going from a bad marriage to opening up your own pie shop where the flavors sound amazing to finding the man you truly love is what I like reading about.
Cinnamon got the love of baking pies from her Mother and she’s enhanced it even more with unique flavors. She has her Grandfather who is trying his hand at making his own beer. A very good friend who designs her own Christmas ornaments and lives in a small town.
But there is also mysteries, murders and general mayhem constantly going on throughout the entire series. I’m currently on the 7th book right now. I don’t believe in witches but I believe that there is more to the story than what’s been told so far.
Read the first one and you’ll know all of the characters. You can read out of order because they are solved by the end of each book. Some I’ve figured out but then surprised when the actual culprit is revealed.
Enjoy the series. You won’t regret it.
Love this series!
