When an Old Order Amish woman takes a job at a small-town pharmacy struggling to survive in a world of “big box” stores, her motive is to help her Plain community. But the advent of the holiday season brings an unusual mystery to the surface–and possibly love.Twenty-four-year-old Holly Zook lives a unique life for a young Amish woman. Years ago, her bishop allowed her to continue her education … continue her education and become the lead technician for Greene’s Pharmacy, an old-timey drugstore that looks out for the Amish community–a group largely without secure healthcare plans. She knows she can’t marry and hold onto her professional job. She’s Amish, and she can only have one or the other, so she spurns love and works toward addressing treatable diseases–like the one that claimed her father’s life.
As long as Holly continues to avoid Joshua Smucker, the one man who draws her like a warm hearth in winter, she should be fine. When something unexpected threatens Greene’s Pharmacy, Holly and Joshua must work together to unravel what’s happened and find the “missing” patient before the Board of Pharmacy shuts them down. As the snows of December arrive, with Christmas in the air, will Holly succumb to the generous spirit of the season?

The Christmas Remedy: An Amish Christmas Romance is a great Amish Christmas story. I enjoyed this quick read. I had no problem having it read in no time. It has a small mystery to solve, as well as, sweet and clean romance.
I am giving The Christmas Remedy a well deserved five stars. I highly recommended for those who love Amish and Christmas stories. A reader will most definitely want to add this heartwarming tale to their Christmas time reading.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
This was an endearing holiday novel! I enjoyed the way that the story focused on the way that the Amish and the English worlds were involved together through the pharmacy. Holly Noelle is dedicated to getting her Amish community to accept better health care and preventative methods. So her job at Greene’s Pharmacy helps her to bring the Amish and the English medicine together. Something happens at the pharmacy during the month of December that creates problems for the future of the pharmacy staying open. The novel’s characters portray their values of the importance of family. The different family members help the others through the difficult times at the pharmacy. Holly is so committed to her work at the pharmacy that she has decided that she can’t start her own family. She wants to help the Amish through the modern medicine, but she knows that there are long standing traditions that perhaps she can’t ever change. This is a cozy holiday story about family. And there is some mystery thrown into the story as well!
This Amish romance caught my attention because of the main character, Holly. She is a young woman who wants to honor her community, as well as, study medicine. While working in the pharmacy, Holly desires to teach her people about the benefits of routine medical care. She learns lessons about work, family and being in control. The Christmas Remedy is also a good choice for young adult readers. I enjoyed the romantic holiday storyline and learned about the pharmacy world. This book is a good fit for a busy Christmas season! I was given a copy of this book by the publisher. All opinions in this review are mine.
Wonderful story by the team of Cindy Woodsmall and her daughter-in-law, Erin. I love the way the story is told from several viewpoints, the heroine/hero Holly and Joshua and that of the Englischer, Brandon as well. Woodsmall is an expert at portraying both the Englisher and Amish worlds. The three are thrown together after a crisis threatens the future of a small town pharmacy. Holly has a burden to open the eyes of her Amish community to the need for better health care. This burden throws her into a different role than one usually carried by a young Amish woman. This is a wonderful story of community and family relationships, mystery and romance. While this story ends at Christmas, much of the story takes place in the fall. Makes for perfect reading at any time of year.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from author/publisher and was under no obligation to post a review.
From the welcoming and inviting cover that lures you into a delightful story, you will fall in love with a cast of endearing characters. When a crisis occurs at Greene’s Pharmacy where Holly Noelle Zook works, she partners with Joshua Smucker to uncover the truth. Holly’s plans include bringing better health care to the Amish and there is no room to be a traditional Old Order Amish wife and mother. Will the growing attraction between Holly and Joshua complicate things? When choices must be made will Holly discover grace within her Amish traditions and find the desires of her heart? Faith and forgiveness with a hint of suspense make this a must-read and a great gift for a friend.
I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Let’s just cut to the chase. I loved this book and will definitely re-read it. Now, why did I enjoy it?
This is a unique Christmas story. We have an Amish woman doing things that we don’t expect. As the back of the book tells us, she’s been allowed to continue her education. I really enjoyed this twist. And to top it off there’s a mystery to be solved!
The characters were wonderful. Charming, not so charming, and real; you will love them! And the descriptions of the town were so good that I want to go visit and hang out at the pharmacy.
The book discusses the pharmacy “life style” and heart behind it, it talks about family and what makes a family (not just blood), and the desire to help others, making this a heart-warming story. I highly recommend it!
I received a complimentary copy of this book but was not required to leave a review.

This book is what I would call a novella it is about 200 pages, but don’t let that stop you from reading this fun book that has all of punch too it. I really enjoyed the twist in the story. I was not really a fan of Brandon at first he seem to have this thing about him, but by the end he just grew on me. I loved Holly and Lyle’s relationship they come from two different worlds but they are equally important to the town and too each other. I loved Ivy oh my gosh she is a pistol and I hope one day the authors have plans for her story, I just loved her and her personality just jumps off the pages. This book is a good clean read and it totally puts you in the mood for the holiday season full of helping those around us but loving on those close to us.
I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion.
#PRHpartner This book would make a great Christmas gift! People on my gift list kept coming to mind as I read the book. The mix of mystery, perseverance, the determination to improve health care, and a little romance. I did not want to stop reading the book, I finished it in 1 day, only to wish the story continued.
