What a wonderful, feel-good story. This book was a breath of fresh air, an original story and I absolutely loved it!
Why did it have to end? How often do you read a great book and then when it’s over, that book is all you think about? Well, The Christmas Makeover was that book for me. I read so many books each month and most of them become forgettable. There was just something special about this book that is still strongly resonating with me. I want to live in Angel Point. I want to be friends with Grant and Faith. Another wonderful thing about this book is the premise. I haven’t read one like this in so long which only added to my enjoyment. The Christmas Makeover is a sweet, clean romance. So if you’re looking for intense and dirty, this book is not for you. The pace was steady, the characters, which there are many of, were all amazing in their own ways and added even more enjoyment. My only complaint is that I wish there was an epilogue. The H/h didn’t have enough time together as a couple before the book was over. I am not going to give you a summary for the sole reason, that I don’t want to spoil your reading enjoyment. I will add that the author does an amazing job depicting the holidays. I am so ready for the fun and chaos of Christmas. Especially this year.
This book is part of a series so I can only hope the author will let us revisit Grant and Faith in the next book. Gosh, I adored them! I recommend this adorable, heartwarming book to anyone looking for an endearing, feel-good holiday story. It was wonderful and a must read.
The Christmas Makeover is one of the sweetest books ever. Susan Lute’s small-town atmosphere coupled with endearing characters makes for some great light reading. Both features would be a perfect combination on their own, but throwing in a Christmas theme turns this novel into a classic happy read.
I award The Christmas Makeover 4 out of 5 stars. The book is sweet and is perfect for a weekend of sentimental reading. I feel much happier this Christmas season after reading this novel. Of course, I am a lover of all things saccharine-sweet Christmas traditions. If you are looking for a pick-me-up, this book will give you all the feels to enjoy the season.
I was given a copy of this book with a request for an honest review.
The Christmas Makeover is the third book in the Angel Point series. This story is about Grant a baker and Faith a past Broadway costume designer who is now helping her Grandfather. Grant is in need of a makeover to help show how serious he is about a new cookbook and Faith needs to learn the magic of the Christmas season. Through the process they are each realizing they have feelings for each other. Will they act on it or just remain friends. You will not be disappointed reading this book. The only thing I found wrong with it is that it left me wishing I could have one of Grant’s Christmas fritters.
This book can be read as a stand alone story although characters from the previous two books make a appearance in this story. Now that I have read this one I will definitely be reading the other ones in the series. I was given a ARC of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

The Christmas Makeover by Susan Lute

Baker Grant Reed loves discovering new Christmas recipes, making people smile, and Angel Point—not necessarily in that order. But when his editor turns down his proposal for a Christmas cookbook, he must show her how serious he is about becoming the premier pastry chef in the country. He turns to his best friend, Faith—if anyone can give him a complete makeover that will turn heads, she can.
This is Faith Hathaway and Grant Reed’s story.
“I see how this is going, Faith Hathaway. The price of admission is a threat to give away your food.”
“I’m sorry, Grant. I got a box of Christmas snow globes yesterday and was making room for them in the display case. I can’t help it if I got sidetracked by how beautiful this batch is.”
Faith, a little flustered, was so dang cute. Just telling him about snow globes made her brown eyes sparkle. Her long blond hair was pulled into a ponytail that cascaded down her back nearly to her waist. She wore a soft rose, vintage-style dress that clung to all the right places—places that weren’t appropriate for a friend to notice.
Grant Reed’s cell pinged. Juggling the coffee and pastry box he was carrying, he stopped his trek down Warren Avenue and dug the phone out of his pocket.
“Someone promised me coffee. Should I come get it?”
Texting with one hand wasn’t one of his better skills, but he managed. “Haha. On my way.”
I highly recommend reading.
The Christmas Makeover by Susan Lute is a wonderful well written 5 star book.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by Susan Lute.
I loved this holiday novella. Faith and Grant are the perfect couple, and finding their way to each other during the Christmas season makes for the perfect story in a perfectly cheery town. Angel Point at Christmas sounds like a place I would love to be with my family at Christmas. This is a great addition to the Angel Point series.
The Christmas Makeover is the third title in the Angel Point series, and it is a delightful romance taken from a different viewpoint. Usually, it’s the women who enjoy the dramatic makeovers that transform them from duckling into that beautiful swan… this time, it’s Grant’s chance to have such a special event happen with surprising results. A sweet, friendship to love story, Grant and Faith will capture not only your imagination but your heart as well.
Faith is a new resident of Angel Point. Oh, her grandfather owned a business and she visited, but her life had been in New York as a costume designer for some very famous Broadway plays. That all changed when the man she was to marry broke up with her last Christmas, in a very nasty fashion – and her beloved grandfather tripped over his cat, broke his leg, and needed Faith’s help. Eventually, she bought out her grandfather, and the vintage shop, Faith’s Attic, was now hers – she loves the town, her shop, and her friends… but Christmas, not so much. Until one man, who could be so much more than a friend, sets out to change her mind about Christmas, and maybe him, too.
While I love an Alpha male, I also appreciate men like Grant. The quieter ones, the deeper ones, the guy who often stays in the friend zone far too long as he’s too shy, or unsure to make that huge play for the lady of his heart. Frankly, Grant is just adorable exactly as he is (was), but a disappointing conversation with his editor, the “not really interested” response about a special Christmas cookbook has Grant rethinking his goals. And the challenge of helping Faith enjoy the Angel Point Christmas season is the perfect distraction. Until the possibility of changing up his style, both as an author/baker and a total makeover of his appearance will have some unexpected surprises in store for Grant and Faith.
I had a good time in Angel Point for The Christmas Makeover. A romance that would engage me at any season, but especially at Christmas for this story is full of the charm and beauty of a small-town Christmas celebration. I liked Grant and Faith, they fit well together, and the slow burn of falling in love for them was an emotional journey that I enjoyed. I don’t know if there are more stories planned for the Angel Point series, but I’m keeping fingers crossed that we’ll return one day soon.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from Tule Publishing. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
I received this arc from Tule Publishing in exchange for an honest review. This was a sweet small town romance that took place in the town of Angel Point. It is a standalone story about Grant and Faith that we met in Susan Lute’s Angel Point books. We learn that Grant and Faith are best friends, each running a business in the little town. Faith has Faith’s Attic, which sounds delightful. It’s an eclectic collection of vintage clothing, decorations, and unique treasures. She bought it from her grandfather following a heath issue. Grant and his grandmother run a bakery, Roses where they create delicious baked goods and sell hot beverages.
In the story it is the Christmas season with lots of activities end events going on in Angel Point. There is a contest between the shops for the best decorated windows. Faith had moved from NYC where her ex had broken up with her at Christmas and she struggled to get into the spirit initially. Grant loves Christmas and makes it his mission to share his enthusiasm and fun with Faith.
Grant asks Faith to help make him over as he is trying to get a cookbook published and his editor isn’t buying his idea. She makes suggestions and helps him shift his clothing style and he elects to get his long hair cut. He works with the apprentice to the bakery, a high schooler, and her friends and Faith to make a YouTube video about him giving a cooking lesson, sporting his new image.
There is a local theatre group putting on a Christmas play with an actress Faith knew in NYC , Tara, headlining it. Faith notices Grant looking interested in Tara and she keeps trying to push them together. At first Tara doesn’t look interested and then after the makeover is complete, she seems to like him. In the meantime, Faith realizes she is falling for Grant but thinks he likes Tara. Grant at first is intrigued by Tara and then he realizes he’s fallen for his best friend Faith. Both Faith and Grant are too shy and afraid to act on their feelings. Faith has also been offered a job back in NYC in costume designing and Grant is afraid she will take it and leave.
There are some secondary character pairings in this sweet story such as Faith’s grandpa and Grant’s grandma. They are cute together. This book seems like it would make a perfect Hallmark Christmas movie. I loved watching Grant and Faith together, rooting for a HEA for them. I gave this 5 stars for the wonderful story and characters. Hopefully Susan will add more books to the Angel Point set.
I really enjoyed Faith and Grant’s story, I honestly didn’t want it to end. I have to say I liked Grant from the start ,he has a sweet personality and these two would make a cute couple.
This is a romance that draws you in and has you wishing that you lived in small town america evn with its neighbourly interference and small town politics
Grant and faith have been friends all their life but she left Angel Point to become a costume designer but now she has returned to her small town to help care for her grandfather and she has his shop to look after and update. Grant is baker who wants to do a Christmas recipe book but his publisher isn’t so sure He knows if he has makeover and shows her how series he is about it she may change her mind and who better to give him a makeover than his best friend Faith Only problem is that Faith loves him just the way he is and a makeover but him in the crosshairs of actress Tara who is in town for a Christmas production Can these two admit what they really mean to one another and get the HEA that they deserve together.
This is an adorable story of friends falling for each other and so unsure of how to approach the change in feelings.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is another visit to the magical small town in the Pacific Northwest called Angel Point. This time we are visiting there at right before Christmas.
Faith Hathaway has come to Angel Point to help her grandfather and take over his second hand shop after an incident. She was looking for a fresh start after a bad break up. Faith had been a costume designer for many well known Broadway productions and loved what she did. But taking care of her grandfather and reimagining his second hand shop was the perfect change for her after her breakup. She is thrilled to be asked to help with the local production of a variation of a Christmas tale. And she has made new friends who she likes in Angel Point.
Grant Reed loves to make people happy. He also loves to bake. And he is able to combine the two loves by working with his grandmother at her bakery. He is also trying to get a new cookbook on pastries published and he needs to dazzle his editor. So he decides on a YouTube video and a makeover for making the impression he needs to his editor that he is serious.
Grant decides to ask his friend Faith to help him with a makeover since apparently very bright t-shirts, old jeans and mismatch socks plus the horrors of a man bun just aren’t cutting it for impressing his editor. Faith is willing to help Grant with his makeover and starts to tweak his wardrobe with some vintage flair. But the mismatched socks are an homage to his mother so those are never touched. Grant decides that he also needs to do a makeover with his hair and once that man bun is gone, Faith is stunned to realize he is even more attractive to her than he was before.
There is some drama along this holiday spirited romance of course. And missed cues and crossed lines of course. But it is a nice quick holiday read. I love the small town feel of Angel Point and the traditional Christmas references. But I think the first two books in this series set in Angel Point wooed me more than this one.
One of the things left unexplained is Grant thinking that he couldn’t handle opening a third bakery so I was left wondering if he owned another one besides the one he owned with his grandmother in Angel Point. And the other thing that left a question in my mind is that he already had an editor so did he already have one published cookbook under his belt?
I did receive a copy of this novel in advance from Tule Publishing in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.
I love and adore reading Christmas stores all year long. Angel Point is one of those towns that I could see as being a year-long Holiday town if not a Christmas town if it wanted to be. This is a story about two friends Grant who is a baker and Faith who is a costume designer but who has returned home to buy and run the antique store her Grandpa used to own. There is Belle the local thespian who runs the theater and she has written and cast a unique take on A Christmas Carol. This book reads like a movie script ready to be but onto the screen and for us to watch it come November. And boy are we in so the need for feel-good kins of books and movies right now. Author Susan Lute gives us just the right about the push and pulls with these two characters, Grant and Faith that I for one kept talking to them as I read the book. I kept telling each one what I felt like they should do and wondered if they would follow my advice I had given them in my head. I am so looking forward to more from Angel Point in the future and hopefully, this book will one day make it to one of my tv channels for me to watch too.
I have enjoyed the Angel Point series by Susan Lute. The Christmas Makeover is book three in the series with a chef and costume designer at the center. The first two books had law enforcement careers but Grant Reed, baker extraordinaire and Faith Hathaway, Broadway designer moving to help family are perfect for this Christmas story. I enjoyed both characters, their shops and their desired goals. Like Faith I think Grant was simply fine as he is.
The plot is well developed with such a delightful setting and even the “makeover” is well done. I couldn’t wait to see these best friends see true love in each other’s eyes but was sad to see the story end too. It is a clean, feel good not sugary Christmas story.
An ARC of the book was given to me by Tule Publishing which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Little do you know that when you help out a friend, what the outcome will be.
Faith and Grant are strictly friends. Or are they? This is a story of how helping others helps you. She is a costume designer and an extremely talented artist who left her job in NYC to help her grandpa. He’s always lived in Angel Point and is a very talented baker. But both are so much more and reading this as we see deeper and deeper into the characters as Faith and Grant get their own Christmas wish.
I received an advanced reader copy from the publisher and am voluntarily leaving my review.
The story of Grant Reed, a baker that loves Christmas recipes and Faith Hathaway, a former Broadway costume designer, now vintage boutique owner, is a sweet clean romance .
Grant wants to publish a Christmas recipe book and believes a makeover will help him show the world he’s serious. So who better than Faith to help him?
Maybe he can get her to love Christmas as much as he does.
But what happens when the more time spent together the more the attraction grows?
I have to confess that for me, it was just ok. I loved books 1 and 2 and this one left me not connecting with the characters and expecting more.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Tule Publishing . The opinions expressed are solely my own.
