Sheriff Clayton Riley asked for a pair of boots for Christmas, not a mail order bride! Unfortunately for Clayton, … Unfortunately for Clayton, his brother and mother figured a bride would look better on him than a new pair of boots! After all, he’d been sulking around long enough after the death of his wife, and his family decided it was time to take matters into their own hands and see to it Clayton had a very merry Christmas!
Summer James was young, she was beautiful and, an impoverished orphan. Who would want such a woman? Obviously no one. For here she was, eighteen and now of age to set out on her own. But New Orleans was full of men with evil intent for one such as herself, and she saw no other choice but to take the only offer for survival she could find and become a mail order bride. What she didn’t count on was becoming Sheriff Clayton Riley’s Christmas present!

A good read. Not many ladies get shot meeting their soon to be husband.
Enjoyed the book and it was entertaining.
I enjoy reading stories of mail-order brides. Especially enjoy those that helped settle and populate the western states.
Enjoyable but predictable. The Sheriff is a bit slow but an enjoyable read. We’re all mail order brides always so attractiv?
Great read. Enjoyed the story very much. Looking forward to more books like this one.
Did not finish. Terrible and silly. Juvenile.
This story was unpredictable. The main character s were believable. The times were hard and women had it hard as well. They had to do whatever it took to survive and if that meant mail order bride then they did it. In this story the groom was not your usual warm and fuzzy guy.
Too much wondering about whether to marry by the lead characters.
Fun Christmas story
This was cute, but a very predictable story.
I liked the book for the most part, it had a fair amount of action in it along with the romance. I was somewhat dusappointed with the heroine because she was too much of a milktoast who could not stand up for herself and was full of self doubt. The author seemed to write her with this personality because she wanted us to understand since she was an orphan she was dealing with overwhelming feelings of rejection.
sweet, and funny
So enjoyed this fast-paced romance, so true to life about how misconceptions can derail a relationship, and how perseverance can bring a relationship back on track. Looking forward to reading more by this author!
Characters didn’t seem all that real to me. We’ve read the mail order bride plot many times. Didn’t love it, didn’t hate it.
It was a good read. Nothing exciting nor does it have any sex scenes. Good old fashioned romance series
Great book. I this author!
Took to long to get to the point. Heroine to asK and soft
This book made me appreciate what the women of the frontier years had to go through. I liked it so much, I bought the next two books.
It had a good plot and took some interesting turns. Christian stories are my favorite. This was a very good and easy read.
Cute story.
