Morgan Reed is excited to open her beauty salon, but her goal gets complicated when she discovers her rented space is already occupied by hot furniture maker, Dallas Parker. Morgan Reed is excited to return to her hometown of Christmas Mountain, Montana, and open her beauty salon, but when she arrives to her rented business space she’s shocked to find it already occupied by Dallas Parker—her … occupied by Dallas Parker—her brother’s best friend, the guy she had a childhood crush on, and the one her mom blames for their family’s greatest tragedy.
With their landlord out of the country and unreachable, Morgan and Dallas must open their businesses together. But, no worries, all small towns need a combo furniture store/beauty salon, right? Ugh. As they work together, Morgan tries to keep her emotional distance but time and off-the-charts chemistry soon turn a childhood friendship into a blossoming romance.
Unfortunately, just when their relationship develops into something deeper, an unexpected crisis re-opens her family’s old wounds and the blame is on Dallas once again. Will Morgan’s sadness and fear pull them apart, or make her realize Dallas has always been her heart’s true safe harbor?

This book has it all, love, loss, second chances, awkward and hilarious moments as well as heartfelt times and best of all Christmas!!!
I loved Morgan and totally got why she was hiding from her family, well mainly her Mum anyway and then there is Dallas (sigh) he is such a great and totally miss understood and the past that both he and Morgan have is not only funny but really special. I guarantee you won’t be putting this book down as you get so drawn into it needing to know not only how things pan out for Morgan and Dallas but also with her family. This is the first book in the series that I have read and will be going back to read the first 2 now to see what I have missed out on in Christmas Mountain!!

Susan Hatler writes the best holiday romance! Morgan Reed has put everything on the line to pursue her dream of owning a beauty salon, what she didn’t plan on, was a mix-up, resulting in sharing said space, with her brother’s best friend. The best part is, the only person who can clear everything up, is out of town until Christmas Eve, so their forced to combine their two businesses for the time being. Their banter will have you laughing out loud, while the chemistry sparks off the page. A wonderful holiday story of overcoming the past and following your heart!
This is a sweet second chance romance that will draw you in and keep you engaged it is part of the Christmas Mountain series and all are great fun Christmas reads
Morgan as never lived up to the expectations of her parents and it got worse after the death of her sister They wanted her to do a business degree she did a beauty course and now she has returned to Christmas Falls to open her business and she knows that she will get nothing but grief from her mother in particular Things become much worse when a mix up by her land lord has her new business premises already occupied by Dallas Parker and his furniture. She had a major crush on Dallas when she was younger but with her family placing the blame for her sisters death on him caused them, to drift apart. Now they will have to share the premises until the land lord returns and sorts out the problem Can they survive one another There will be plenty of laughs on the way
I liked this book. I thought that the characters had good chemistry and I felt that story offered a good blend of cuteness and sweetness. This brother’s best friend romance/second charnce romance had a lot of charm and emotions. I did have some pet peeves with this book that included some pieces of the story that just seemed to be dropped along the way and how long it took Mrgan to finally show some backbone. Still, all in all, I found this an enjoyable read.
Morgan’s home but will her Christmas be jolly? Only if she grows some backbone!
3.5 stars
This was not my favorite book by author Susan Hatler, mostly because heroine Morgan drove me crazy with her inability to face off with her mom. She bends over backwards to avoid confrontation, even to the extent of turning away from the best things she’s got. And she’s unthinking and reckless, even provoking others to get the blame for her hasty actions. Her mom is a steamroller and her dad is either clueless or just wants to keep clear of his own wife’s wrath.
So, although I did not sympathize with Morgan or her family, I did like Dallas, her brother’s childhood friend, and the small-town Christmas atmosphere of the setting. The dilemma that gets Morgan and Dallas reacquainted after eight years apart was an unusual twist. There is a very funny scene in a restaurant that I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s well-written. the romance is sweet and the ending is wrapped in love and Christmas cheer, with a little tinsel on the side! I just wish I had found the heroine more likable.

This story is so sweet and so emotional. However, most of the emotions I was feeling were the ones that tightened my shoulders up to my ears in discomfort. Too many of the older adults around them only reinforce their self-recriminations. Both Morgan and Dallas are carrying so much guilt, and nearly none of it is their own. I loved watching the pair of them open up to each other and purging some of the blame and shame they’ve been holding on to so tightly. I’m intrigued by this quirky little town and am curious to see what else is going to happen.

Morgan returns to town to open a beauty salon. There is a problem – Dallas is renting the same building to open his handmade furniture store. Do furniture and hair mix? These two are so made for each other. I felt for Morgan feeling like she couldn’t be herself and having to always please her mom – ugh. A clean romance with the main leads encouraging and supporting each other. There was angst but not forever. This book made we long for snow and a warm cozy fire.
Morgan Reed has it all figured out, she will come home to Christmas Mountain, open her shop and live happily ever after. That is until she runs into Dallas Parker and her world is flipped upside down.
This was a sweet Christmas story about friends, family, and forgiveness. I really enjoyed this story and these characters. Susan Hatler does an amazing job making her characters feel so relatable, there were times I laughed, got angry and even got excited. Really enjoyed this book!
Coming to terms with loss.
Since the death of her sister, Morgan has always tried to be the daughter her mother wants but on leaving her hometown instead of following a business degree, with money left by her grandparents, she instead takes a beauty course. Now she is returning home and must ‘fess up that she is opening a beauty salon instead of joining the family bank. Her situation is further complicated by her new business premises being double-leased to Dallas Parker. Dallas is not only the man her mother blames for her sister’s death but the boy she crushed on. Morgan and Dallas quickly become close when renovating the property for their business ventures but how can Morgan choose between him and her family? I enjoyed this story and the moral that only you can live your life.
