Short holiday quickie but loved it because it brought back so many memories of my own time in Canada during the holidays and “Reveillons”. Thank you
“You are my princesse, Laure. And my castle. And my kingdom. You are everything I could want in a partner, everything I never had as a child. You are loving and kind and selfless. You give all of yourself to those you love, and you do it with such joy, such happiness.”
I love the name chosen for the book. The mix of English and French, so catchy. Also, there are some French words in this book(love it!). The story of how Laure and Maxime met is pretty funny. This book also shows the importance of communication in a relationship and the value of family.
This book is only 6 chapters long plus the epilogue. You’ll read it in one sitting. It’s the perfect quick and adorable holiday story. Simple, lovely, and also steamy. They can’t keep their hands off each other, especially Laure whose love language is physical interaction.
If you want to take a break from books that are like 300 pages long then this is the perfect read for you, it’ll leave you smiling.I really loved Laure and Maxime’s relationships, you can see how in love they are with each other. They’re so sweet. Laure’s family is the sweetest, her siblings are so funny.
I loved the ending, pretty hilarious and adorable. Overall, I highly recommend everyone to read this book, you’ll love it.
3.5 stars
I adored K.D. Elizabeth’s “The Christmas Cadeau,” a lovely story that beautifully captured the joy and magic of the Christmas season as well as the special connection between main characters Maxime and Laure. I’m not a big fan of the insta-love trope, which IMO is overused in novellas, so what I most appreciated about this novella is that Max and Laure were already an established couple. It was obvious how much they genuinely loved each other because of the little things they did to show their affection, both physically and emotionally. The conflict between them arose as they attempted to navigate the complexities of their evolving relationship. There was a misunderstanding between them, but the reasons for it were perfectly clear and understandable, and I appreciated that Max and Laure confronted the issue head on rather than letting the hurt continue to build.
I highly recommend this short but sweet holiday romance. It was completely different from any other story I’ve read recently, in the very best of ways. I look forward to picking up Max’s friend Ethan’s story very soon!

This Bright Series prequel is an entertaining romance. I like that it’s not so much about falling in love as the progression of that love. Maxime and Laure have been together for a while – I absolutely love how they met – and with the way things have been, Laure is worried. These characters are likable, and they make for a likable couple. We get a bit of danger and a little steam to spice things up. The story is a quick read, easily finished in an hour or so, which makes it perfect for a fun little afternoon or bedtime read.
Quick holiday read to introduce you to some characters! Laure and Max are desperately in love, but she is so paranoid after Max starts acting weird that she thinks he is breaking up with her! The real reason behind Max’s strange behavior is that he is actually planning to propose but has no idea how. Within the misunderstanding, they end up separated during a terrible winter storm and when Max hears from Laure’s mother that she’s missing, he goes crazy searching for her and ends up in a bad car accident. Thankfully, he is able to make it home even though his car is totaled and it’s there that he finds Laure and they hash everything out. Great quick read and introduction to this author for me – I’m excited to continue this series and see where it takes us!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
The Christmas Cadeau will make you smile. The way Max and Laure met had me giggling, and you just know from the start they’re meant for each other. Despite being a novella, you’ll fall in love with both before the end. Cute, quirky, sweet, and a quick read, this is a little splash of holiday spirit.
4 Star review of The Christmas Cadeau (The Bright Series 0.5) by K D Elizabeth
K.D. Elizabeth is a new author to me and although this is my first read from this author it will not be my last. This was a quick Christmas novella that ticked a lot of boxes for me; well written, it was a romantic love story.
Despite believing that Max is her soulmate, Laure is convinced that he is about to break up with her and just before Christmas which is even worse.
Unbeknownst to Laure, Max is jittery as he is trying to formulate the perfect proposal for the woman he is head over heels in love with. Will miss communication destroy their relationship or will true love win out in the end?
This was a quick read with characters whose story you quickly become invested in, add in it’s centred around my favourite holiday of the year and I as hooked.
Looking forward to reading more in the series as soon as possible.
4.5 Stars for The Christmas Cadeau ( The Bright Series 0.5)
This Christmas Novella is the first book I have read by this author but it certainly won’t be the last because this quick beautifully written love story stole a piece of my heart.
Miss communication has Laure believing Max is about to break up with her when in fact that couldn’t be further from the truth, Max is trying to plan an epic proposal. Thankfully a snowstorm rolls in and Laure’s mother decides to intervene and help with the communication issues ……..
This is a quick holiday read that is also the perfect introduction to The Bright Series. If you love holiday romances that have the perfect mix of love and drama this is the book for you, it has adorable characters, it’s a story about love, communication and family, it’s emotional and I’m sure like me Max and Laure will steal a piece of your heart. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
The Christmas Cadeau by KD Elizabeth is tge first book in The Bright Series. A quick read, but it is sweet, cute and fun. There is humor, a touch of angst and miscommunication, and a lot of sweet and steamy romance. I loved Laure and Maxime – they made me smile!
Short, witty and extremely loveable, this holiday read will melt you on the spot.
I really enjoyed the personalities of Maxime and Laure. They were so much fun to read and super sweet.
I feel if I say any more I may ruin the excitement, so, if you love a good Christmas romance, this is for you.
The Christmas Cadeau comes recommended.
This was a really cute Christmas novella about Laure and Max and what happens after a relationship starts. I absolutely loved the concept of this book occurring two years after the relationship had already started. A short in-between read this holiday season!
The Christmas Cadeau was such a cute, little Christmas story! It’s got all the elements, family, love, some steamy bits. It was adorable and such an easy, quick read!
This is a super cute funny short Christmas story.
Maxime gave me another long look, and I swear I saw a flash of nervousness in his eyes before he said, just a little too quickly, “So we’re probably going on a date this Friday, aren’t we?”
From the way they met to getting engaged Maxine and Laurie are super cute together. Not your typical romance but a great read.
What a sweet holiday story! KD Elizabeth has written a perfect story about Maxime and Laure. These two are the perfect for each other and with the help of a snowstorm they finally see what everyone else knows.
This is a perfect quick read that has just the right amount of drama and steam. I really enjoyed this one, give it a chance I’m sure you will too.

“The Christmas Cadeau” by K. D. Elizabeth was truly a great book. The characters and plot of it all were so sweet and heartwarming, perfect for the holiday season to be honest. Though I found the first two chapters confusing, once I realized that this was only the prequel to the “Bright Series” and continued reading it all made more sense. I love the relationship between the two characters and how the couple met was one of the best parts in my opinion. This book was heartwarming, funny, sweet, and steamy. Overall the book was an amazing read except for the confusion at the beginning so it’s a 4⃣.5⃣/5⃣ from me. I cannot wait to see what comes next!

The Christmas Cadeau is a short story and prequel to The Season Bright. I found Max and Laure’s story highly entertaining. Max is all flustered at the thought of proposing and Laure is afraid he is breaking up with her because he is so stressed about it. All in all, it’s a cute Christmas read with all the feels.
A Bright Series Prequel a short well written story. Laure and Maxime and what happens when you do not tell the other person why all of a sudden you are so detracted. I enjoyed reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
