I enjoyed this fun read. This book offers up a delightful blend of cuteness, sweetness and relatable emotions that are all sprinkled with holiday charm. I thought Harper and Gabriel made a appealing couple and I really liked seeing their relationship evolve. These two opposites had great chemistry and this book seriously tugs at your heartstrings as Gabriel with his optimism tries to thaw out Harper’s jaded, grinchy heart. A very enjoyable holiday romance.
Harper is a divorce attorney at MacArthur and Associates, working during the Christmas holidays. After all, if arguing over where to put the Christmas tree brings up talk of divorce, then it’s best to get out of an unstable situation. No one should be in an unhappy relationship because, if you stick around, they’ll more than likely hurt you again. So when her client’s husband wants to try to make the marriage work, Harper is doubtful about the outcome.
Gabriel Hart, opposing counsel in the case Harper is working on, has a completely different approach to the problem. With his generally positive outlook on life, he is all for giving a second chance to the spouse, encouraging each of them to try to fix the problem rather than throw their love away and give up.
With their clients deciding to spend the Christmas holidays working things out, Harper and Gabriel make their own plans for a little mini-vacation at Lake Tahoe. Harper’s friend has a cabin she can use for a long weekend getaway. But the cabin is already occupied when she arrives! Gabriel is there – in the same cabin! With neither willing to back down and give it up, will the two lawyers go head-to-head to battle it out, or will a compromise be reached where they can both find what they need for the perfect holiday?
Well-written with plenty of humor and emotion, this story is a wonderful way to get into the Christmas Spirit no matter what the current season is! Gabriel is the perfect partner to help Harper’s heart heal and give her a little “attitude adjustment”. Is she willing to make room for him somewhere in there?
I had lots of fun reading this story. The characters are well developed and engaging and plenty of chemistry from beginning to the end. Storyline flowed smoothly.

Gabriel & Harper’s Story Is A Clean & Sweet Quick Read, Reminiscent Of A Hallmark Movie!
This is book five of the Blue Moon Bay series. It was formerly titled A Christmas Kiss, book five of the Kissed by the Bay series. Blue Moon Bay is a quiet town that lies on the California coast. The story opens five days before Christmas.
Harper Avery moved to Blue Moon Bay after law school at U.C. Davis three years ago. She was raised by her Aunt Lucy, who helped shape the woman she became. Aunt Lucy’s divorce had been liberating, and Harper works to help others to move past an unhappy marriage and to get a fresh start in life. If she can just finish with Noelle Jacobson’s divorce, she can hopefully make it back to Seattle for Christmas. Chinese takeout with her aunt on Christmas Eve is their treasured tradition.
Gabriel Hart is a divorce attorney at MacArthur and Associates, and he represents Noelle’s husband Riley. Riley is a deadbeat that brings nothing but chaos to Noelle’s life. But when Gabriel shows up at a meeting meant to finalize the divorce, mentioning something about second chances, Harper soon finds that she has lost all control over the situation. With Noelle and Riley now discussing reconciliation, Harper is steaming over the delay of the inevitable divorce and the further emotional damage her client will suffer.
When Aunt Lucy unexpectedly tells Harper she has other plans for Christmas, Harper perks up when her friend from law school, Kara Conway, offers her a Tahoe mountain cabin getaway through Christmas. But when Gabriel Hart appears at the same cabin, all her hopes of a quiet holiday getaway to regroup are destroyed.
Gabriel and Harper’s little holiday romance is a simple story that includes snow and Christmas traditions. It juxtaposes two sides of a divorce, and two views of divorce. Harper is a pessimist and has a difficult time relating to Gabriel’s easy going optimism. They have both been burned, and have different reactions to their pain. Their time together in the cabin eventually breaks down some walls, but there are some hard truths that might just tear them apart.
There are a few issues that merit mention. *Spoilers* First, it is surprising that Gabriel and Harper did not at least know of one another from law school and their friends, Evan and Kara Conway. It also seems probable that Gabriel might have known of Curtis from law school. Finally, it was odd that Gabriel did all the grocery shopping – and that Harper never stepped up to help out.
This is a clean and sweet quick read, reminiscent of a Hallmark movie. The story is a bit simplistic, but has a sweet ending. It is written in first person in Harper’s POV. I rate this book four stars.

Harper Avery and Gabriel Hart are opposing divorce attorneys in Blue Moon Bay, California.
Harper does not believe in second chances or even true love, Gabriel however does believe everyone deserves a second chance. He knows what true love looks like and wants it for himself.
Needing to get away from town for a while, and Gabriel Harts cheerful attitude, she rents a cabin from a friend. The perfect place away from everyone and everything for the holiday. Gabe has the same idea and rents a cabin from his friend as well. Guess you know where this is going right?
Five days stuck with a man who frustrates her in more ways than one, how will Harper survive. Gabriel has his hands full trying to make the best of the days snowed in with the beautiful frustrating attorney. Can he melt her heart of ice, maybe the magic of Christmas can help him open her heart. Harper will have to take a leap of faith, blindfolded and no safety net in sight.
A sweet holiday short story of second chances, this is book 5 of an 8 book series. If you love Christmas romance stories then you will probably enjoy this book.
Rating:
This was a fun story. The characters were opposites but they were good together. They grew throughout the story. The story transitioned from one event to another exceptionally. It seemed joined. All the events made a beautiful story together. While it was a bit difficult for me to connect with the heroine, I saw where she was coming from and grew to appreciate her.
The story follows Harper. After a long day coming up with settlements for a divorce, the two partners decided to work it out and give it another try. That irritated Harper because she believes that a clean cut is the best way to go. She’s been a bit jaded by her parents deserting her and then having her heartbroken. Her aunt, who brought her up, isn’t going to around for Christmas since is busy at a tea party. That’s why Harper books a cabin at Lake Tahoe. Then she realizes she was double booked. Along with the opposing counsel who recommended to have the two partners retry.

Sweet story about two lawyers working on a case for their clients who want a divorce. Actually neither one of them could make up their mine. But the lawyers got a long just fine. HEA.

The author continues to give us characters that we can care about. Gabriel Hart and Harper Avery are opposing counsel in a divorce case. Things do not go the way Harper plans. With the need to get away for Christmas, she accepts the offer from a friend for a short vacation at a rental cabin. However, when she gets there she finds there ahead of her. Hopefully a short vacation can change how Harper looks at the world around her.

Harper and Gabriel are opposites she doesn’t believe in second chances let alone love where as Gabriel thinks that love is real and everyone makes mistakes so why not give someone a second chance. After a mix up with a cabin booking they are now stuck together whether they like it or not and the feelings and romance that blossoms from that warms your heart, but of course nothing ever runs smoothly and we have hot heads, high emotions and a case that could put a wedge between them to work through.

Harper became a divorce attorney because her aunt was much happier after a divorce.
One Christmas she rented a cabin from her friend only to find out that her friend’s husband had rent the cabin to someone else. To make matters worse, he is the counsel of the other party in a divorce she is representing. Still, they decide to share and enjoy Christmas – until reality – and the to be divorced couple intrude into their idyll.
A nice story, nothing really special, but well-written and entertaining.

Gabriel and Harper are opposing counsel in a divorce case who end up together alone at a cabin their friends own for Christmas. He’s an optimist who believes in love and second chances and is messy while she’s closed off to romance, doesn’t trust easily, and is a neat freak. I thought his client was immature with his ridiculous schemes and antics using her client’s money and property. I didn’t buy that romance, but I was rooting for Gabriel and Harper. There were plenty of funny and sweet moments in this clean Christmas novella.
Another great book by Susan Hatler. This one is an opposites-attract holiday romance that checks off all the boxes for an uplifting story just perfect for reading as the holidays are drawing near!
Harper and Gabriel are both divorce attorneys with very different perspectives on love. Come along and see if they can meet half-way and find their own HEA!!

For a shorter story, it hits all the feels of a really good holiday romance. Divorce lawyers, Harper and Gabriel are approaching this Christmas with some hurts and loneliness. But, with an unexpected mix up they end up at the same Lake Tahoe cabin for the holiday. This is a sweet story about forgiveness, trust and the magic of Christmas to let down the guards around hearts to find a forever love. Very touching!

This story is about Harper and Gabriel who are opposing solicitors for Riley and Noelle who are getting divorced. Harper is jaded about relationships and her friend asks if she wants to stay in her cabin over Christmas. When she gets there she finds Gabriel there as he was offered it as well. They get to see each other in a different light but then something happens and things change. This is an ok quick read.
