I received this book for free from Barclay Publicity in exchange for an honest review.
This book is so flawless! I loved every moment of it, and I could NOT put this book down! The story really grips you and imprints on you right from the first page. I love stories that start out with a lot of action and jump right into the story, and The Chosen Knights really fits the bill.
The first thing that I noticed about The Chosen Knights is how smooth Mary Ting’s writing is. The words flow together immaculately. I loved how the world building was created in a way that reading about it did not feel tedious. The world building and the character development are both woven so beautifully together.
The character development was really spectacular. Especially for the main character, Lucia. The book is told in first person from Lucia’s point of view. I loved experiencing all of her conflicting emotions alongside her. I also admired how she stayed true to herself, even though she was unsure whether or not to let her emotions take over.
The plot was quite compelling. I adore stories with angels and demons. What makes The Chosen Knights stand out is the unique angle in which Mary Ting presents by adding the Knights Templar into the story. I’ve never seen this done before in an urban fantasy, and I adore the originality that it brings to this tale. The story has the perfect amount of action, romance, and mystery.
I loved the romance in this book! It was slow and had the perfect amount and sweetness and temptation. I adored every moment.
It is worth mentioning that The Angel Knights series is a spin-off of Mary Ting’s Crossroads series. If you have not read the Crossroads series, fret not! The Angel Knights series can be read as a stand-alone series as well. I have not yet read the Crossroads series, and I was able to follow along without any problems. (Although, I am definitely going to be reading Mary Ting’s Crossroads series very soon!)
I am highly anticipating the release of the next book in this series! (And by that I mean that I need the next book more than oxygen.) I have hands down found a new favorite series and a new favorite author! You will not be disappointed that you read this!

I really loved catching up on this series. I remember that I liked the romance, and that still stands true. While this is not necessarily instalove, I feel that the relationship formed a little too quickly. Though I think this is because this book is a fast-paced read. I did enjoy the characters for the most part. Sometimes the dialogue felt forced and cheesy, but there were some hidden gems sprinkled throughout as well. Some of the characters had some great character development, and others not so much. I didn’t feel fully connected to the main character, Lucia. I liked her well enough to read the story, but she wasn’t memorable. If anything, I liked her love interest in the story more. He was quite interesting, snarky, and had some good backstory. I very much like the premise of the book series. I always love when authors take existing ideas, like this series does with angels and demons, and and make them their own with unique ideas. Ting does this well in this series. I really love the flashbacks to events that have taken place in the past. Those characters’ journeys are just as much a part of the story as the main characters. The world-building in this is not out of this world. Though there are supernatural and paranormal fantasy elements infused, this series takes place in present day Hawaii and so the world is that of a contemporary with paranormal creatures that live there. Overall, I enjoyed rereading this book and I am continuing on with the series. I would recommend this series. It is a fun, engaging, and quick read and the unique take on angels and demons is enough to warrant a read.
I gave this read a 4 1/2 stars

The action and adventure continues with a touch of teenage angst continues in The Chosen Knights. Yes! I would recommend reading the prequel, The Angel Knights, to get more background on these characters. But then again, that’s just me. I like having more background into the characters’ personalities and such. It gives me more of an understanding of these characters and the decisions they make, be it impulsive and/or cautious.
Anyways, I am absolutely a fan of urban fantasy, paranormal, supernatural genres. And… Mary does not disappoint with this spin-off series. The prequel itself gave me a brief idea of where these characters are coming from as The Chosen Knights opens. I somewhat got an idea of why they are in Hawaii. So, as the story progresses and develops, these characters grow as well. There’s also history revealed throughout giving readers a bit more of an understanding of the various characters. I even got the sense that that “line” between good and evil are somewhat blurred with the various supernaturals that these angels encounter during their time on Earth, specifically Hawaii.
I don’t know… This review would probably get spoiler-y if I continues, so I will leave this as is. This is a fun read for young adults, especially for fans of urban fantasy, paranormal, supernatural genres. I found this story of angels, demons, and other supernaturals fascinating as their paths crossed and their individual personalities develop. Mary’s descriptive and expressive writing took me away to Hawaii and the action/adventure(s) her characters encountered. And, her character development was not lacking. I found her characters to have unique and relatable personalities.
All in all, The Chosen Knights is an entertaining and delightful read for fans of Cassandra Clare. Action/adventure and a touch of emotion-filled drama with angels, demons, fallen, and supernaturals galore! Can;t forget all the teenage angst that goes along with high school…haha!

In the beginning of the book it seemed like the author would repeat themselves. It didn’t seem like there was a purpose for it, like trying to make a point. So it came across as redundant. Therefore, I found it difficult to get in to this book. It was slow going. But I pressed forward. Towards the middle on, the story picked up. I am intrigued to know more about Eli. Such a mysterious character.
