Twelve years ago, he drove away with my heart in his hands.I’ve moved on since then.Or so I thought. Growing up in a small town, there weren’t too many options when it came to friends. But, even in a sea of a million, I’d always choose Jake Jameson.I felt safe with him. Safe with my secrets, my dreams and eventually — my heart. I thought we’d have forever together. That was a long time ago.I … together.
That was a long time ago.
I thought I’d forgotten those piercing blue eyes and the sound of his laugh. I tried to obliterate the memory of his touch from my mind.
But, one single glance, as he stands at my door, twelve years later, and I’m suddenly transported back to a simpler time when love was easy, and my heart was whole.
The problem?
I’m marrying his best friend.

This is a beautiful second and third chance romance. Love is strong within the pages bring lots of tears as a shattered heart begins to mend. Every time I thought the HEA was within reach, the rug was pulled out crushing my heart, leaving me emotionally drained.
I lost count of how many times my heart shattered within the pages of The Choices of Made. Thankfully the heart surgeon would arrive just in time to put it back together again. I will admit that I looked at the percentage read a few times just to make sure I would be left devastated, crying for eternity.
I fell in love with the characters. Jake and Molly were high school sweethearts. then Jake went away leaving his heart and Molly behind. Molly was crushed.
They got a second chance, but it wasn’t enough. There was something missing. They weren’t ready. The choices they make–torture for them and for me. I wanted love to conquer or all. I wanted them to see the error of their ways. I held on to hope for a better tomorrow. I think they did too.
The Choices I’ve Made is an emotional, angsty and heartgripping second chance romance that held me captive until the very end. Life is all about choices. Wrong ones, right ones, ones that set you on your path, and others that change your future.
For Molly and Jake their choices and timing were never quite right and took each in different directions. When their paths cross once again their old feelings are still there but will their choices keep them apart? I loved both Molly and Jake. Each of these amazing characters were broken and flawed in their own way yet their broken pieces fit together perfectly. These two definitely put my emotions through the wringer! I laughed, cried, swooned, got angry, wanted to knock some sense into them yet loved every moment of their emotional and heartfelt journey.
The Choices I’ve Made had me rooting for Molly and Jake from the beginning and I enjoyed that not everything fell perfectly into place for them. I loved that their journey was messy, emotional, frustrating yet absolutely worth it. If you want an amazing second chances romance with all the feels then you should read this book.
When Jake comes back home to Ocracoke Island for the reading of his father’s will, he knows he’ll end up seeing his first (and only) love again, Molly. But first, he runs into his old friend, Dean, and the two are soon enjoying some reminiscing. When a tragedy happens and Jake’s medical skills are called upon, Molly’s back in his orbit, under less than ideal circumstances.
The two realize, even though so many years have past, that the love they once shared is still there. Can they possibly find love and happiness again? Can Jake redeem himself after having left Molly behind? Can Molly possibly fit into his high stress life as a top notch surgeon, or can he be content with the life as a small town family physician, as his father had wanted?
Second chance love is one of my favorite tropes, and J.L. Berg has done it so well here. Jake and Molly’s journey back to each other is highly readable, a little bit melancholy, and the two make for a pretty amazing couple, once they work everything out.
I love all of J.L Berg’s books. She doesn’t disappoint!
Berg gives us a well written story and I loved the characters and heartfelt emotions. Look forward to reading more from this author!!
