“Masterly and rich… Highly recommended.” — Library Journal (Starred Review)
As the Jack-of-All-Wicked-Trades for a secretive French military intelligence agency, Lieutenant Kingsley Boissonneault has done it all–spied, lied, and killed under orders. But his latest assignment is quite out of the ordinary. His commanding officer’s nephew has disappeared inside a sex cult, and Kingsley has … nephew has disappeared inside a sex cult, and Kingsley has been tasked with bringing him home to safety.
The cult’s holy book is “Story of O,” the infamous French novel of extreme sado-masochism. Their château is a looking-glass world where women reign and men are their willing slaves. Or are they willing? It’s Kingsley’s mission to find out.
Once inside the château, however, Kingsley quickly falls under the spell cast by the enigmatic Madame, a woman of wisdom, power, and beauty. She offers Kingsley the one thing he’s always wanted. But the price? Giving up forever the only person he’s ever loved.more
There’s nothing like Tiffany Reisz’ The Original Sinners, and its ‘cult-like’ following is due to the series’ ingenious storylines, deliciously deviant characters, and Reisz’ flawless writing. I, like most readers, can’t get enough of Kingsley, Søren, and Nora’s debauchery and all of the willing participants who play along and explore the sinfully satisfying side of sexuality.
Just when I thought I knew all there was to know about Mr. Kink himself, Kingsley Boissonneault, Reisz introduces readers to a younger version of this charming and devilish man, and with this new information, we can’t help but fall even further under his spell and add a few more reasons to love this manipulative and daring manwhore.
In The Chateau, readers meet a 24-year-old Kingsley who’s an officer for La Légion and tasked with a rather intriguing mission – to rescue his commanding officer’s nephew from a sex cult and return him home unscathed. But Kingsley’s higher ups don’t truly know their Lieutenant’s sexual preferences and desires, which means they’re ordering him to infiltrate what could possibly become a veritable playground for this kinky fella.
As soon as Kingsley enters the Chateau, he falls under its Madame’s spell, and it’s easy to see why due to Reisz’s meticulous and vivid descriptions of everything that happens behind closed doors along with Kingsley’s reactions and musings at everything he experiences during this transformative period of his life that is further altered due to what is asked of him while he’s a part of the sex cult and what he learns about himself and the person who has always owned him.
The Chateau is a fantastic addition to this sinfully decadent erotic romance series;
Since they’ve infiltrated my mind and my heart over a decade ago, I can’t get enough of Reisz’s Original Sinners characters, so the fact that the series continues and readers gain further insight about the patriarchs of the series as well as those people who enter and leave their lives changing the lead characters in positive/negative ways makes these characters ever present in the lives of those readers who can’t get enough.
4.5 Poison Apples
OMG…so good! So, so good!! The Chateau is the ninth installment in Tiffany Reisz’s deliciously complex BDSM/erotica series titled: Original Sinners. It is a prequel of sorts that centers on fan-favorite: Kingsley at the young age of twenty-four years old. In my opinion, readers may benefit most from reading The Chateau in series order (along with Christmas novella: The Scent of Winter…sigh), but stay tuned for reading order recommendations from Ms. Reisz herself. The recommended series order at present is:
The Red Years: 1) The Siren 2) The Angel 3) The Prince 4) The Mistress
The White Years: 5) The Saint 6) The King 7) The Virgin 8) The Queen
The Chateau is an erotic thriller that offers twists, surprising revelations, agonizing choices, exhalations of painful satisfaction, breathtaking perspectives on the beauty of a BDSM relationship, and Ms. Reisz’s personal love note/sequel to Story of O. In an interview with Ms. Reisz (located in the ARC edition), she describes The Chateau as “James Bond with blow jobs, BDSM, and an angst-ridden bisexual hero still in love with his ex-boyfriend.” …and yes, that about sums it up.
Tastefully fun, engaging, erotic, beautiful, palpable, and a total mindf*ck, Tiffany Reisz’s The Chateau will take you captive and you will never want to be let go.
Thank you to the following for permitting me access to an advance reader’s copy (ARC) of The Chateau. This generosity did not impact my honesty when rating/reviewing.

4.5 KINGSLEY STARS!
The Chateau is a sensual, erotic, mysterious novel that will screw with your mind! The setting alone was magnificent; Paris, France in 1989 and Tiffany Reisz’s writing brought it to life even more.
Kingsley Boissonneault is hired to look for the Colonel’s nephew who is believed to have been kidnapped and forced into a sex cult. Kingsley knowing the ‘Story of O’ didn’t hesitate. Kingsley becomes entangled in the Madame’s web. He sees her for the cruel sadist that she is. She draws you into her spell and not long after being involved with her you forget your own name and crave the lust. Kingsley soon discovers the truth and everything comes to light. One thing was certain Kingsley never forgot about his first lover, Marcus Stearns, also known as Søren. I truly loved Kingsley!! His sense of humour throughout the novel added a lighter tone to a novel that is filled with twists and turns.
Though this isn’t my first rodeo with Tiffany Reisz, I went into The Chateau completely blind as I have yet to read the Original Sinners series. And boy, oh boy was this book a trickster! So much so that you become a part of the game and the lies. It’s messed up and crazy, but at the same time you love it and wouldn’t have it any other way! Tiffany, I would say is a mistress of the BDSM writing community. She writes sexy and with pure elegance! Her writing and this whole entire book has just made me so freaking excited to read the first book in the series!
Yep, Ms Reisz can sure write. This is a fascinating view into King. I wish it has been longer!
Very unusual plot. One of the best I’ve read lately.
I love when Kingsley holds the baby for the first time.
I love visiting the Original Sinner series and Kingsley is a favorite.
Kingsley has been having doubts that Søren ever loved him, in fact, he has been having nightmares.
He’s asked to take a job which sees him at a Chateau which is apparently a secret sex club. He meets Madame who is a shrewd Madame.
l could definitely see Madame and Søren exchanging notes.
I loved it, as you are reading you’re unsure what direction the story is going but you’re intrigued and curious.
There were pleasant surprises that made this story.

I have to admit that I have missed a few of the previous Original Sinners books but I couldn’t resist this story about a younger Kingsley. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed at all.
Kingsley is a 24-year-old living in Paris and working undercover for the French military. While on medical leave, he gets an assignment to fetch the colonel’s nephew. What he learns is that the nephew is 19-years-old and has left for a place called the Chateau. No one knows where it is or how to get there. The only way to get there is to be accepted and he must call and talk to the madame of the house to be accepted. The call is not that hard but the wait for the return call is a six-hour wait. But Kingsley gets the call and meets the madame at a local hotel. After he passes her inspection, he is blindfolded on the way to the Chateau, so he cannot see where they are going.
Once he arrives, he learns that the women are in charge and the men are the slaves or submissives. He seems to be okay with this to a point. When he meets other women there, they are all beautiful, so why wouldn’t the men be okay with the arrangement. When Kingsley finds the nephew, he finds out that he is not being held against his will nor is he a captive. He doesn’t want to leave, he is happy where he is.
After Kingsley is sent away, he can’t think of anything else but the Chateau, he wants to go back. But he gets an assignment to go to New York. After six months, he is back in Paris and trying to figure out how to get back to the Chateau. He calls the number but there is no answer. As he is walking away, the phone rings and he answers it. It is his way back in and he can’t wait to get there.
But he will not be happy with Madame when he learns of the game she will play with him to get him to stay. He has to choose between the one he has always loved and the one he will love in the future. What will Kingsley do? Can he choose the one to make his future what it turns out to be? Will he ever be able to go back to the Chateau?
This story can be read as a standalone, but I would suggest reading some of the Original Sinners, maybe Kingsley’s stories, just so you will know what is going on in his mind now. I can’t wait to go back and read the stories I have missed. Tiffany Reisz has a way of drawing you into this story and keeping you there until the end and leaving you breathless and wanting more. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

I adore The Original Sinners series and all the kooky kinky characters, especially Kingsley! He’s such an adorable rogue. This is a story that goes into a time after Kingsley left school and worked for the military. He’s pining over Søren and looking to forget the boy of his dreams (literally). The legion sends him on a reconnaissance mission to find his superior’s missing “nephew” at what they believe is a sex cult. Kingsley ends up gaining access and meets the Madame. There are some crazy plot twists and turns as the Madame really takes being a sadist to heart and has no issue messing with Kingsley’s head. He falls in love, in lust, and gets Søren literally beaten out of him. The story meanders a bit mid-book and I felt maybe went on a little long, but Kingsley is always fun to read with his hopping bed to bed, so it wasn’t too bad. It’s meant to be a side story on its own and it achieves that. Fun summertime read!

Are you familiar with the Original Sinners series by Tiffany Reisz? If not, you NEED to get familiar with the series!! Having said that, I believe The Chateau could be read as a standalone.
This story is about Kingsley, as a young adult. He’s been given a secret mission to find and save the Commander’s nephew, Leon, who has been “inducted” into a cult.
This story was the perfect mix of kink, mystery/suspense, Kingsley, and comedy! I loved seeing young Kingsley, on his own. Seeing who he was when part of the French Army. Of course, there are references to his first love, but the choices he’s forced to make were just heartbreaking (in a good way).
Ah, how I’ve missed The Original Sinners…

Intelligent. Intriguing. Twisted.
The Chateau is the 9th installment of The Original Sinners series, with Kingsley as the narrator. However, it can be easily read as a standalone. Kingsley’s dreams may be more enthralling to new readers who have never met or heard the backstory featuring Søren. However, series fans will eat that portion up like candy.
Taking place in the early 1980s in France, the climate and era were completely different than today. Kingsley is young, jaded yet somehow naïve at the same time. He’s starved for love, comfort, and attention.
Witty and charismatic, I found unexpected humor during Kingsley’s interactions with the underling, but especially when flirtatiously bantering with his love interests. While I believe many will find it a hot book, that wasn’t the focal point for me. I absolutely adored Kingsley’s interactions with others.
A little bit twisted, my favorite element was how everything fit together flawlessly. Tight and concise, written with intelligence, understanding, and knowledge, The Chateau was a mature book.
Without spoilers or giving away plot points. Kingsley is on assignment, chasing down a nephew who was supposedly brainwashed into a sex cult, by the infamous yet elusive Madame at the Chateau. While he may have found the boy, he also found himself.
To me, it was more mysterious, connecting all the dots, than sexy, which was the perfect mix for me.
The entire series has many twist and turns, but this was the favorite novel of mine within the lineup, with The Prince as a close second. I’m just going to continue to ignore The Mistress’s existence. (laughs at myself)
Fans will go nuts by the Søren cameo. My heart kept breaking and repairing as Kingsley had dreams and worked out his feelings for the sadist.

This is the ninth book in the series – and every loyal fan, like myself, must be in sheer delight at getting more of the story revealed. But if you have never read one before (really? have you been in the Foreign Legion?), then actually this would be a fun place to start, and you really wouldn’t be spoiled for then going back to book one. Do be warned though, once you are in, well, it is nearly as difficult to leave as from the aforementioned Foreign Legion! Tiffany Reisz has written a totally addictive, confounding, and extremely erotic series, and long may more books be released.
The blurb gives you the basics – what I think you need to know is that this book is, in part, a vision of what a community run by women might just be like. Okay, a very kinky group of women, but the reversal of power, expectation, and sensitivities is wonderfully imagined, and it does Kingsley a world of good to consider these possibilities. The fact that every game also prods and pokes his masochistic nature is a bonus that he is not slow to appreciate, even when he simultaneously hates it. A wonderful mind game indeed.
I have always loved Kingsley, so was delighted to get to see him as a young man making his way in a world that had been harsh to him from his teenaged years. We also get to understand just how deeply Søren was entrenched in his soul. And at the end we have to think very carefully about the veracity of some statements made, in the light of the way that Madame had been so manipulative… bluff and double bluff!
The eroticism in this book is beautifully understated and I came away far more excited by what I learned about Kingsley than anything else. Be prepared for mind games.

I adore Tiffany Reisz. This is the latest of the Sinners series and totally lives up to it’s predecessors.
5 “God Bless America” Stars
What in the world did I just read? Tiffany Reisz sure does spin a web in her storytelling. One that you must read thoroughly or you miss little tidbits that change the whole story.
Sitting down and devouring this story, I figured out that Catherine was one person that you wouldn’t want on you bad side. She is a puzzle maker, cutting each piece to perfection, allowing each piece to fit together perfectly.
Kingsley is at the Chateau for work. He is going to locate a young man who has just up and left his family. He’s joined this ‘cult’ that no one has been able to crack and get into. Leave it up to the exceptionally trained Kingsley to get past Catherine’s test and into the Chateau.
Read this story carefully, work the pieces of the puzzle before trying to make the picture beautiful. There is a proper way that the pieces fit and once you’ve put them together, what a story the picture tells!!!
Absolutely loved The Chateau! Sometimes I find myself whispering this too…
”It’s all right… It was just a dream.

“Not all problems are meant to be solved. Some are meant to be endured.”
I’m always awed by the awesomeness that lives in the author’s mind. Where does she come up with this stuff? I never know what I’m getting into when I open one of her books, but I always love what I find inside. Her characters are so colorful, they never fail to entertain me with their kinks, humor, and sarcasm. And it goes without saying that she puts the heat in #HOT!
The Chateau can be read as a standalone, but it’s oh-so-good for those of us who already know who Kingsley is. This story gives us a glimpse of his younger self, at the age of 24. Seeing the Chateau through his eyes was a treat and the author did a beautiful job of making me feel like I was there. Not only did I get to take a virtual tour of the incredible mansion, I got attached to the residents and didn’t want to leave. The mystery surrounding the estate was very intriguing and I wanted to know Madame’s secrets.
As far as Kingsley being sent to investigate a sex cult; they couldn’t have found a more perfect person to check it out. It would take a lot to shock him, right? He’s like Mikey, he’ll try anything. I know, you are probably too young to know who Mikey is, but you still get the point that he’s adventurous and doesn’t shy away from new tastes. The author never runs out of ideas for unique sexcapades for her characters and every story is an adventure.
Kingsley finds much more than the missing nephew in the Chateau, he finds some of the missing pieces of himself that he wasn’t aware he’d lost. “All too often we learn more from living with a question than we ever would from the answer.” Madame is wicked and wise, tempting him to within an inch of his life and then raising the stakes. How much will he be willing to give up in order to accept what she offers? Nothing is free and everything must be earned.
I really enjoyed meeting this young adult version of Kingsley. Being inside his head at this time in his life is both sweet and sad as he fights his monster in his dreams. I felt his pain, both mentally and physically, as he struggled with the decision he needed to make. I totally get the whole love/hate thing when you can’t decide whether you want to hit someone or kiss them. I found myself virtually volunteering to take one for the team, and I couldn’t decide whether to punch or pucker. The line forms here…
Ill read anything by Tiffany Reisz! Her work is amazing. Read the series, it’s shocking, erotic, and definitely different.
I wanted so much more from Kingsley’s back story but sadly I just didn’t connect with what we were given. I’ve enjoyed other books in this series so I’m not sure why I’m feeling such a disconnect with this one.
Didn’t really care for this. It’s not very believable and a little hard to follow. The story has potential but this twists and turns are not well done. It’s not an enjoyable read. I found it mostly frustrating.
Oh Kingsley, you wonderful man…. what an adventure you enjoyed !
Love all Tiffany Reisz’s books
Love this author! I read all her work!
Tiffany Reisz once again sucks us into this incredible world. I just love Kingsley! Emotional, twisty, and kinky, we get to see Kingsley at 24, his vulnerable side, his wit, and how his time with Madame shaped him. Another spectacular addition to this Original Sinners world. Loved it!
I didn’t originally realise that this was part of a larger series: no matter this was still an enjoyable endeavour surprisingly more humorous in its execution than erotic which surprised me as I was expecting the opposite.
My rating reflects the fact that I haven’t read the rest of the series so was somewhat uninvested here.
If you are a regular consumer of this series I imagine the opposite would apply.
Though technically this can be read as a standalone: all the components are there: in my opinion, this would be better served read as part as the series especially since you will already then be invested in the outcome here.
This is a partial backstory of 24-year-old Lieutenant Kingsley and his adventures concerning The aforenamed Chateau.
It’s fun flirty and sexy: A well-written foray into a world of taboo practices and free expression.
I enjoyed this very much but it didn’t really set me on fire probably because as I mentioned earlier I read this as a solo offering.
Still, it was enjoyable and well written so for that reason this gets a thumbs up from me.
Thank you to the Author and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of “Do Not Disturb” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
