“Masterly and rich… Highly recommended.” — Library Journal (Starred Review)
As the Jack-of-All-Wicked-Trades for a secretive French military intelligence agency, Lieutenant Kingsley Boissonneault has done it all–spied, lied, and killed under orders. But his latest assignment is quite out of the ordinary. His commanding officer’s nephew has disappeared inside a sex cult, and Kingsley has … nephew has disappeared inside a sex cult, and Kingsley has been tasked with bringing him home to safety.
The cult’s holy book is “Story of O,” the infamous French novel of extreme sado-masochism. Their château is a looking-glass world where women reign and men are their willing slaves. Or are they willing? It’s Kingsley’s mission to find out.
Once inside the château, however, Kingsley quickly falls under the spell cast by the enigmatic Madame, a woman of wisdom, power, and beauty. She offers Kingsley the one thing he’s always wanted. But the price? Giving up forever the only person he’s ever loved.more
Wow.. Tiffany Reisz has a way with writing-
Kingsley is sweet, sexy and charming young man who is given an assignment his commander felt he would be good for. A rescue sort of mission for the commanders nephew who is believed to be held against his will in a cult of sorts. However, he is told to check on him and ensure that he is ok and not being held unwillingly.
Once in the Chateau we are treated to sex, love, and a little bit of understanding into Kingsley’s younger years.
Amazing story and characters that will have you wanting more… Love this series!
I love The Original Sinners and Kingsley is one of my favorite characters and I love reading about his day as an agent. It has been 7 years since Kinsley has seen Soren, but not a day goes by that he doesn’t think of him.
The Chateau seemed like a dream and a nightmare as the same time. not knowing what was real and what wasn’t. Who was who. Was it all a game. It is a story full of intrigue, mystery, fun and tender moment and a lot of steam.
A wonderful read.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. If you want something different in that it balances the erotica perfectly with suspense/thriller then this is for you. The writing pushes the reader along with the Lt. Kingsley to the edge sexually then brings you back with a well written story that had me side eyeing my Kindle when encountering certain twist. This is my first read in this series and now I have to go back and read them all.
Tiffany Reisz’ latest, “The Chateau”, could have just as easily been entitled “Kingsley Edge: The Lost Years”. The first of what I pray is many standalone novels in the Original Sinners universe, “The Chateau” thrusts us into the world of young Kingsley Boissonneault – spy and hedonist. With time on his hands and a certain priest on his mind, he’s sent on an off the books mission to rescue a young man from the clutches of a female sex cult. Of course, he’s only given part of the story, and the hostage story ends up being a far different situation.
I’m a huge fan of Tiffany Reisz and her masterful way of weaving literature, theology and kink into a mesmerizing story – not to mention Kingsley Edge, her bad boy switch with a penchant for sartorial splendor – and “The Chateau” delivers on all counts. Using “The Story of O” as a jumping off point, Kingsley’s mission turns into a bit of a submissive’s fever dream. The story especially appeals to me because we see a glimpse of Kingsley’s softer, gallant side, and the inspiration for the Kingdom that Kingsley Edge will ultimately rule. His closely guarded innocence was a revelation, making all of his grown up swagger that much sexier. Reisz’ stories, as always, are kinky, titillating, sexually adventurous and artfully drawn, but aren’t for the closed minded or weak of heart.
If you love the Original Sinners series, you will adore this addition to the canon. If you love smart , well written erotica, with a side of arch banter and French elan, and haven’t met Kingsley, Nora and Father Sterns, pick up The Original Sinners series ASAP
5 sexy stars.
Even though it’s book 9 in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I’ve only read the first two books in this series, which I loved.
I didn’t fully connect with Kingsley or the story. It started slow for me and took awhile before I became engrossed in the story. There was some humor and mystery. It was interesting to see Kingsley as a young man. He came across as young and innocent, although he was anything but. Tiffany threw in a few little twists that I didn’t see coming. I’m a big fan of Tiffany Reisz, but this book fell a little short for me.
5 “January Eyes” stars
iffany is not a writer, she’s a conjurer, a magician. Her books are optical illusions and the moment you open the pages, you step into the Narnia of her creation. The outside world forgotten, you are now trapped willingly in her dungeons where demons come out to play. Søren, Mistress Nora, and now Kinglsey.
Reading her books is akin to baptism, you just get dunked in her words like holy water and your hidden kinky guilty pleasures get absolved of all shame. I felt a Euphoria that was religious and supernatural.
I opened the page, met Kingsley and Madame, and ever since I’ve been having an out-of-body experience. It’s an inexplicable phenomenon, you truely start believing in this mythical world and it’s superhumans.
Kinsley Edge, who we met in the Original Sinners books is John Kingsley here.
His cover was “John Kingsley Edge,” a twenty-seven-year-old American mystery novelist— as yet unpublished, living out his Hemingway-in-Paris dreams.
Having served as a Legionnaire, now his missions are covert, lethal & dangerous. By day he’s occupied and focused, it’s the nights that haunts him. His lover invades his dreams and taunts him mercilessly. He of wounded pride and bruised ego, refuses to accept the shameless love.
“How do I find you again?” Kingsley asks.
“Please, tell me before I wake.”
“You don’t find me,” the boy says. “I find you.”
“Find me then.”
“When it’s time.”
“When will it be time?”
“When you find you.”
He is wandering like a spirit in limbo, seeking absolution and acceptance from his lover, Marcus Stearns.
A new mission takes him to the Secret Chateau, a Madame who he wants to go logger heads with and a deep seated desire to be a submissive. All this confusion makes him blind to the fact that he’s way over his head in the game of chess played between Alice & Colonel Masson. Recovery mission soon becomes Rechérché mission. A search for his own closure, his own soul-sorting.
“This place definitely seemed too good to be true.
Beautiful, intelligent, kinky women.
An elegant luxurious château.
Quiet. Serenity. Refinement. Fucking amazing food.
A sadist. An exquisite, vicious, delicious sadist… Oh, there had to be a catch.”
I’ve become a HUGE fan of her style of writing. Her books should hang in a museum like art masterpieces, for all the world to admire. Andrew calls himself her manservant and I’m uniquely jealous of his standing at this moment now. She’s a true Madame of BDSM writing, low key, confident in her talent, amidst the so called pseudo-intellectuals claiming authenticity.
“He tied you up to tell you he never wanted you to leave him.
He bit you because you were the food to his soul.
He struck you to mark you as his possession, as a valuable he would want returned to him if lost or stolen.
That’s why you miss it, Kingsley.
That’s why you miss the pain.
Because every time he hurt you, he was trying to tell you in the only way he could how much he loved you.”
And here I thought, the pain was all about breaking the body and spirit. It’s more about restoration, wiping the slate clean and rebuilding of a submissive in a master’s own image. Customising a human, sort of!!!! Thank you Tiffany!
I bet she laughs in her corner everyday, polishing her crown, with Søren by her side, a step behind and when she closes the heavy wooden doors to play with her characters and chronicle their wicked games, i get a weird feeling, that the corner seat in the playroom where Kingsley and Colette have their wedding night, is not just a figment of my imagination and one time, maybe Queen Reiss is/was an occupant?!!!!.
I swear my mind is playing tricks. Like I said, opening her book is like gazing in the crystal ball. You can’t believe what your eyes read.
The Chateau is a central character. It’s walls throbbing with playful intrigue, trap doors, secret chambers and trick games add to the allure & mystery. Free will is an illusion. You’re a puppet as soon as you pick up the phone to seek admittance.
Of the characters, Madame is of course the most interesting, Polly and Colette are, dutiful servants or perverted playactors…..I’ve yet to decide. If they were genuine, they deserve accolades for their Oscar worthy performances. I mean the lip biting virgin act of Colette had me going soft on her.
Polly was right about one thing. Kingsley is adorable little boy, craving non sexual touch and care, just made me wanted to hug him tight. Hide him in my embrace.
“Bonne chance, Madame.” The sentiment was sincere. This is what he came here for, after all— to be free once and for all of the hold that boy in the forest had on him. Or die trying.”
By this time I was really teary eyed. Enough already Marcus!!!
His extreme kinks give him a path to absolution at least, for that I’m eternally grateful.
I swam through this blazing story, red hot fiery lust filled river, I dunked, soaked, steamed and came out plenished. A fantastical journey, that ought to be mandatory guide to all the wannabe BDSM writers. A benchmark to measure up to. Now I have to go bavvk to the start and read Søren & Nora
“Ah,One more regret for the butcher’s bill.”
To be honest I couldn’t give a synopsis anymore than what the author already gives. This is one intense erotic thriller/romance, the likes of which I’ve come to love from this author. The erotic nature of these stories are individual, unique and deeply intense.
“I’m going to touch you,” she said. “If you have an objection to that, then I don’t know why you’re here.” Again, Kingsley did not speak. He had absolutely no objection to being touched. Not by her, anyway.”
Be ready to delve deep into BDSM fantasy with The Chateau; where we follow Kingsley’s journey of pain, pleasure and discovery. I actually really loved Kingsley’s character; I loved that he was both strong and new to knowledge at the same time. He was discovering about himself at the same time we were and I liked that kind of naivety about him.
“For my job I have to lie to everyone. I’d like to tell the truth to someone before I forget how.”
I have to be so careful to ensure I don’t give anything away but I will say I LOVED Madame; she was mysterious and intense and extreme in the best way. I definitely feels BDSM, and sadism in particular, is very hard to write about. There is a fine line between beautiful, erotic and intense and something that could become very uncomfortable to read. And as always, Tiffany Riez, finds that balance beautifully.
“Between the kiss and the answer, he would always pick the kiss.”
There are many twists and turns throughout that will keep completely enthralled with Kingsley’s story. And as much as it a story in it itself, it is also very much a self discovery story about Kingsley and how he has become the person many readers know him as. If you love BDSM and if you love intense and thrilling stories then this is the perfect read for you!

I picked this one up on NetGalley when I was in the mood for something different. I didn’t realize it was a part of a series, let alone book 9 in that series. I had no clue till I went to mark on Goodreads that I was reading it. That being said, I haven’t read any of The Original Sinners series so take that into account when reading my review.
I do enjoy Tiffany’s books. Some are very hot and heavy on the erotica, and some are very story driven. This is kinda both but more erotica. I liked the story behind The Chateau and that was probably my favorite part of the book.
The characters were also an enjoyable part of the book. Kingsley took a bit to get invested in but I really liked Madame.
I’m not sure if this was enough to push me to read the previous books but I did like this book. Everyone of Tiffany’s books is an experience and I’m looking forward to her next one.
The Chateau is a thrilling erotic adventure that only Tiffany Reisz can deliver. As our beloved Kingsley at the tender age of 24, is asked to go on a mission for his secret French intelligence agency, we are all thrust into a wildly sexy adventure that I could not put down! But isn’t the way it is with the author’s work? Getting ridiculously wrapped up in her words and wanting it go on for forever.
The are numerous subtle twists and turns as Kingsley is desperate to figure out his dreams, always looking for the ‘monster’ who he hasn’t seen in seven long years and who owns him heart and soul. The assignment at the Chateau with the mysterious Madame who runs her world when men serve women, is one that Kingsley cannot resist. I have to admit I was very intrigued myself. I love his charm and his smart wit as he goes toe to toe with the nameless Madame, surprisingly satisfied both mentally and physically. The entire story is like one big puzzle with The Chateau at the center of it all and I enjoyed seeing each piece, no matter how jagged, find its rightful place. The author truly has a gift at tying all loose ends together, presumably getting the reader to that “A-HA” moment with pride.
There is plenty to absorb and to savor in this latest Original Sinners book as we go back to the past when Kingsley was too smart for his own good, yet maintained a vulnerability that is nothing less than irresistible. Tiffany Reisz is such a pleasure to read as her words flow perfectly from start to finish. We are rewarded after this extremely pleasing mystery with a smile-inducing epilogue that will satisfy any Original Sinners fan.
5 solid stars!
There is absolutely nothing quiet or vanilla about this book! Tiffany Reisz has once again managed to pull me into her crazy and colorful world in her latest book The Chateau. This book is the ninth installment of The Original Sinners series and nothing short of a rollercoaster.
“Do you like it?”
There’s nothing not to like!
We meet Lt. Kingsley who has done his fair share of things for the agency he works for and not to mention the colourful life he’s lived until his latest assignment sends him to a place he might be too overeager to visit. There’s the image you create in your mind of what a place might be and what might be going on inside, then there’s the actual place and the actual things that is going on. At first it all seems to meet his expectations and then who knows how things can go?
Other than Kingsley who plays the main role, we meet the Madam and the ladies and gentlemen who work for her. There’s enough characters to keep you alert and not to have you going back to check where they fit in. The story and writing keeps you interested and it gets harder to put it down, the deeper you go.
“I want to die with you inside me I love you that fucking much.”
Along with his pain and pleasure, there’s the monster from his nightmares who doesn’t easily let him forget.
This book is dark and hot and keeps you hooked!
Worth five painfully-good stars!
Review by Angelique, Late Night Reviewer for Up All Night w/ Books Blog
I was so ecstatically excited when I heard Tiffany was bringing out a new Original Sinners book!! Have you read the first 8 Original Sinners series??!! OMG!!! If you have, you know what I’m talking about, if you’ve not then my goodness you don’t know what you’re missing!!!
Back before I became a blogger, I came across Tiffany’s Original Sinners series by accident, I had just started reading again after not picking up a book for years. I had read FSoG and enjoyed them, but wanted something more. I came across these as I said by accident, but loved the blurb on them and bought the first one. To say I binge read would be an understatement – I couldn’t put them down, I was fascinated and enthralled by these. Tiffany was really the reason why I called my blog what I did and developed my interest in this genre.
Ideally these need to be read before reading The Chateau to properly understand what is going on in there:
The Red Years: 1) The Siren 2) The Angel 3) The Prince 4) The Mistress
The White Years: 5) The Saint 6) The King 7) The Virgin 8) The Queen
The Chateau is all about Kingsley when he was younger working for the French Military Intelligence. He is asked to go undercover and find the Colonel’s son, who they think have been taken by a sex cult against his will – he must infiltrate this cult and get inside and find out what’s going on – sounds like the perfect assignment for him!!
I love Kingsley with a passion, so to find out more about him in his younger years was a treat!! He is cocky and arrogant and full of himself, but so very lovable – yet in this story he is just starting out in his quest to really find himself, learning about his love for pleasure and pain, this shows another side of him, more vulnerable and open.
His love/hate relationship with Søren shows up in here as the boy in white smelling of winter throughout his dreams. These were fabulous flashes of insight into just how much influence Søren has on his life and how he shaped his world, and how much he loved and hated him at the same time, still yearning for him, but afraid at the same time.
Madam is the sadist in this story, taking over Søren’s role, her brand of sadism being different but no less effective. I loved the time they spent together and what she did to try and break him. Madam turns out to be an influential player in Kinglsey’s life and how she shaped his future along with Søren.
I loved it!!! This consumed me completely, I couldn’t put it down, it just had to be read!!
Emotional, passionate, erotic, funny, thrilling with some great plot twists. A beautiful read that brought back so many wonderful reading memories from The Original Sinners I think I feel a re-read coming on!!
Be warned this is a highly erotic read with BDSM if you hadn’t figured that out – it will leave you breathless!! Highly recommended reading.
Kingsley always was a favorite of mine in The Original Sinners series, and I was thrilled to know this book was about him!
The Chateau is about a younger Kingsley, when he was in his 20’s. Virile, sexy, strong everything he still is in the The Original Sinners, but younger!
He’s between “jobs” in Paris when the opportunity to infiltrate inside The Chateau comes around. Some say that The Chateau is a sex cult, lead by a woman, the Madame, that no one knows about, where the men serve the women… if you know Kingsley, that’s heaven for him!
This is the story of how Kingsley gets inside and finds all his dreams and nightmares together that leads to the man he is today.
Although I enjoyed this story, I was expecting more from it… something more mind blowing, with more insight than what was offered.
Tiffany Reisz weaves spells with her writing. It’s unlike any of the other stories I read, and she casts magic by pulling me into her books. The Chateau is an Original Sinners book, and I have read one of them but it was a long time ago, so I treated this as a stand alone and it was no problem.
Kingsley is playful and flirty, lonely, haunted by his past. You can tell he wants a family someday and he is quite the charmer. His latest mission sends him to a place opposite of what you would usually expect, and though some things were revealed, I feel it kept it’s secrets from us still. Along with the mysterious, beautiful, and fierce Madame of the house.
The dreams throughout the story were at least as interesting as the story itself. Full of symbolism and longing, desire, love, pain. I found this book to be a little dark, a little amusing, very sensual.
***I received an ebook copy from the author at no cost***
I could write a whole book about why I love Kingsley Boissonneault. He’s easily one of my top five favorite characters ever written by any author. The Chateau is all about him, and Reisz did us good.
King is young in this book, a mere 24-years-old. He’s cocky, loves to have as many women as he can, and continues to nurse memories from the boy who owned him years earlier. When he’s sent on a mission to investigate a sex cult he gets more than he bargains for, and ends up on a personal journey of all things erotic and BDSM in the meantime.
The idea of the chateau itself both intrigued and excited me. A castle full of men who are subservient to women. The castle itself is based off The Story of O (which I now feel like I must read). Madame is intelligent and captivating, and knows when and how to wield her power. I quite enjoyed her character, and am hoping that we might get another glimpse of her in future books.
I loved seeing Kingsley before he became the well-known man he is in present-day times of the series. His journey in this book, at the chateau, was instrumental in helping shape him into the man he becomes. His relationship with Madame reminded me of his with Søren in some aspects, but Madame has her own way of interacting with subs and slaves. Kingsley discovered himself in ways that he hadn’t before. I’m not going to give out spoilers, but I can confidently say that any fan of Kingsley will love where Reisz takes him in this book. (And seeing him all vulnerable, as a submissive … Unf. So amazing.)
Kingsley and Søren’s relationship is referenced a few times throughout the book. King still aches for his former lover. Some of his time in the chateau is reminiscent of the time he spent with Søren. Søren appears in King’s dreams pretty frequently, which broke my heart a bit and gave me butterflies.
When it comes to erotica, especially of the BDSM variety, Reisz is my go-to author. Her imagination knows no bounds. Every word of The Chateau was deliciously sinful, and the different scenes were smart, sexy, and hot. Reisz’s writing is, as always, captivating and vivid. With The Chateau, she’s crafted a tale full of surprises and, through which she plays beautiful games with words and left me stunned and craving more. The characters are amazing, the plot is gold, and everything moved along at a perfect pace. I couldn’t put the book down once I got started.
This book can be read as a standalone, although I would recommend reading the whole series because the characters are INCREDIBLE.
If you’re looking for a suspenseful and intriguing BDSM story, The Chateau is one story you won’t want to miss.
Kingsley gets a permanent spot at the top of every book boyfriend list imaginable. And The Chateau gets the Wordaholic Must Read seal of approval.
Five stars to this novel!
The Chateau is my first book I have read by Tiffany Reisz! I now need to run back and start this series. I was blown away when I met Kingsley in this story. The depths and the journey we are taken into the BDSM world will keep you wanting to explore more. The story behind The Chateau kept me wanting to turn the next page so I can get just… MORE!
The characters were lively. They knew what they wanted and the exploration of their world has you right there too. I seriously feel like I am missing with out reading the others book. But I caught on with this story that I was able to read it as a standalone. I am sure Tiffany Reisz’s fans are loving hard that she brings in a beloved character from what I see. I recommend this book!!
Falling back into the Original Sinners series is like stepping in to a pair of comfy slippers. From page one I was lost in the world of a 24 year old Kingsley and was laughing within minutes at his witty repartee and blasé look at life. That guy has no shame, no conscience and definitely no scruples. He is just one of my all time favourite characters.
This Kingsley adventure is based on The Story of O; what a stroke of pure genius… that book could’ve been written with Kingsley in mind. It’s beyond erotic, with plenty of twists that we’ve come to expect from Tiffany’s writing.. hell I even look for them now, trying to work them out and failing miserably!! The intensity and mind games of Madame was compulsive reading & kept me hooked until the last page was turned. The cameo appearances of Søren just strengthens why these two characters make one of literatures most formidable couples; they are like a modern day Rhett Butler & Scarlett O’Hara!!
Another outstanding story, compulsive, erotic, suspenseful. A must read!!
Paris. 1989.
Kingsley is a 24 year old agent in some secret french military branch.
He was supposed to have another two weeks off, but now his boss sends him on a new ‘adventure’. The 19 year old nephew of the colonel is staying at this mysterious ‘Château’ place.
They don’t know if he wants to be there or if he’s being held against his will.
Off to the sex château Kingsley goes…..
Eeeep. Finally back with our darlings.
Well, it’s mostly only darling King, but the Priest is there too – all through the book – mostly in Kingsley’s dreams and memories!
And that’s basically what is happening. King is happy being at that sex ‘cult’ place – it’s kinda his sexiest dream come true. But in his nightly dreams and nightmares he tries to come to grips with his love/hate relationship with Søren.
And while dealing with his Søren problems, Kingsley is having an amazing and a very sexy time at this place. No idea why his boss is so worried about his nephew. Or is there something happening here that Kingsley hasn’t discovered yet???
Amazing book! No idea how Tiffany manages to write every single Sinners book just SO perfectly perfect. So heartbreakingly amazing that we fall in love with those guys all over again – every single time!?
I just LOVED seeing Kingsley & Søren again. Even though the Priest was never really here.
It was exciting and mega erotic and moving and sad and my heart broke a little for our young King. Ugh. That poor guy. This unbelievably huge love he has for that winter-smelling blondie….
I just adore all of this!
I enjoyed reading this story so much and I strongly suggest that Tiffany should write a Sinners book every other month for the rest of eternity!!!! Thank You!
Oh and if you’re new to the #OriginalSinners, you should start with book #1! You need to read every single word ever written about The Priest and his King and Queen!!! ASAP!
When Lt. Kingsley was assigned to do “unofficial” job to investigate the disappearance of Leon, nephew of his commander, who believed he is being held against his will by a sex cult. Accepting the job is easy but getting inside the so-called sex cult, Kingsley must go through some test. Patiently Kingsley was able to get in. And after spending a time there and meeting the “Madame” of the house. He learned something more about himself than he bargained for. A decision must be made will Kingsley choose the right one?
The Chateau is another masterpiece by this author. Words cannot justify how good she writes every dialogue in this book. It’s witty, sexy, and definitely hot. The plot, those unexpected twist towards the end just amazing how she can play mind games with her readers.
And characters that are unforgettable. Kingsley, I already like him from the previous book I read of The Original Sinners, but in this book, I FLOVE him. Madame is certainly worth meeting and I cannot wait to see if this author will write more about her. I will certainly be looking forward to that if she does. Secondary characters are also endearing like Polly, Collette, Bernie and that tick, Georges.
This is standalone, so if you haven’t read a book by this author this is a must-read. Ms. Reisz works can be addicting so you have been warned. Highly recommended!
Note: Got this ARC thru Netgalley. Thank you!
To me, every new Original Sinners story is a gift. There are always delicious new discoveries about these characters I’ve grown to love so much, and The Chateau is another treasure wrapped in twisted silk ribbons.
Featuring a 24 year old Kingsley Edge during his time as an agent in the French military, he is charged to infiltrate a supposed sex cult. However, the mission takes a personal turn. His time at the Chateau and with Madame (a brilliantly crafted new character!) sheds beautiful and tragic light on the man King becomes—with Tiffany Reisz’s signature style that is so much fun to read yet is deeply emotional with some jaw-dropping twists. A master storyteller, she had me smiling and laughing one minute then clutching my aching chest the next. In the end, I felt like I ran a marathon and tears were welling up in my eyes.
I loved every word of this fun and erotic thriller, and King’s character now holds an even deeper place in my heart. This is a must read for Sinners fans.
Note: Though The Chateau could be considered a prequel, I highly recommend reading the series in order for full emotional impact. There are insights into Kingsley’s character that I think you won’t fully appreciate if you haven’t read his full story.
