Innocence doesn’t stand a chance against pleasure….Lady Ophelia Binghamton has been the definition of a wallflower her entire life. She has always paled in comparison to her livelier friends in all of their adventures. So how can her Aunt Millicent possibly expect her to catch the eye of a suitable gentleman with marriage on her mind? She is much more content to search Hadnall Heath for the lock … Heath for the lock that fits the mysterious key she discovered at the beginning of the summer house party. And to rescue the Marlowe sisters from a fate worse than death, of course.
Prince Saif Khan joined his friends at the infamous house party solely for the purpose of pleasure, but from the moment he met Lady Ophelia, his heart is in serious danger of something much more serious than fun. And when Ophelia appeals to him to help the Marlowe sisters escape from their horrible father and even more horrible suitors, he commits himself to the mission with enthusiasm.
But can an Englishwoman and an Indian raja’s son find true happiness? Or will fate keep them apart?

Ophelia is the most reserved of her friends. Prince Saif is at the house party just for a bit of fun, but then these two hit it off. They’re courtship is taboo due to him being foreign and thought of as beneath the English. Not only do they have to deal with that, but are also trying to help the Marlowe sisters avoid being trapped into marriages with disgusting old lecher friends of their father. The hypocrisy of the “ton” never ceases to amaze me.
Oh soooo steamy and I love it!! The Charming Jezebel is book 9 in the When the Wallflowers were Wicked series by Merry Farmer. Though in a series this book can be read as a standalone. Merry has such a creative way of writing a story that it sucks you in from the first page to the very last. Her characters are just wonderful and the regency details are so clear you can picture it all in your mind. I read this book in one day as I could not put it down. This story has wallflowers, reputations, abuse, boldness, protection, trying to escape, an evil father and yes love. I highly recommend you read this book!!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Another great addition to this delightful series by the charming Merry Farmer! Those wallflowers can be the most suprising and Lady Ophelia definitely pulled out of her shell by non other than a prince from India. Ophelia is attending the house party at Hadnall Heath and wants to help the Marlowe sisters when she overhears their father plotting to get them married off to some unsavory matches. Prince Saif agrees to help her aid them but surprisingly he may need some help himself! An unlikely attraction they least expected forms and the journey on their romance is just so entertaining!
Now I cannot wait to see what happens to the Marlowe sisters! A great, quick read that will entertain until the end!
Although this is Book 9, this was my first wicked Wallflower story. Ophelia is extremely busy planning & match making, in fact she is way more busy doing that then actually being wicked. She is totally dedicated to her friends and the freedom for of all them to marry their choice instead of force, what a challenge. Amongst all the chaos and mishap, she connects with her true love. They make a great team and he is very supportive of her cause. Very entertaining and emotional story. I was surprised that the ending had some unfinished business which, to me really makes this a 3 1/2*. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
Jammed into this shortish story is quite a bit of chaos as the house party continues. If you’ve not read the earlier books, it’s hard to follow who is who and what have they been up to. Only Lord Cunningham’s embarrassment is detailed; as with some characters, I wondered why he had not left the house party.
This time it’s Ophelia’s turn to be very naughty, yet she allows Lady Malvis to walk all over her. There is an attempt to rescue the Marlowe sisters, but that is not at all thought out. Which leaves us on a cliffhanger of sorts – what will happen to the Marlowe girls.
I read an advance copy and voluntarily post this review.
The Charming Jezebel is the ninth book in the When the Wallflowers were Wicked series. It can be read as a standalone but after reading it and not all the books in the series, I think reading the earlier books would have improved this book for me. The series is about wallflowers that join a house party at Hadnall Heath and find their happy ever afters. This book is Lady Ophelia and Prince Saif’s story. Lady Ophelia attended the house party but due to all the rain all the guest were board and the host was trying to figure out things to entertain. Lady Ophelia is concerned for her friends, the Marlowe sisters. She and Saif overheard their father, Lord Marlowe, arranging for them to be compromised and forced to marry unpleasant men. They decide to help the Marlowe sisters escape from their father and the house party, but their plan did not go well. As they work together to help the sisters, their love for each other grows. Lady Ophelia’s aunt did not care for Prince Saif and so they had to work together and hide at the same time. The book was a good, short, light romance to read. The ending of the story left the reader hanging, but it’s possible that the suspense will lead into another book or series.
Lady Ophelia is the most innocent of her friends and would never approach Saif an exotic Indian man. Saif is not so innocent and shamelessly flirts with her. But her Aunt will not let a match happen with a foreigner. Ophelia and Saif find ways to be together and to try to help the Marlowe girls avoid the men their father has chosen for them. Love was not in the plan. I am looking forward to seeing what is in the works for the Marlowe women. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
At a house party Ophelia appeals to Saif to help the Marlowe sisters escape from their horrible father and even more horrible suitors, he commits himself. This is steamy. Keeps you reading.
This series and the previous series are unabashedly a little naughty. Not that that is a bad thing because it definitely is not. This book is also in that category but there is something below the surface that is sweet and the moment when you say “ahhh” and you wish it would continue. The flirtatiousness between Saif and Ophelia was charming. A very lovely story.
Looking forward to seeing how the Marlowe sisters get themselves out of trouble.
I received a complimentary copy from the author.
Lady Ophelia Binghamton is used to being overlooked and powerless. She can’t imagine how she’s meant to catch the eye of an eligible man at her friend’s scandalous house party. She’d prefer to help her friends, the Marlowe sisters, escape unwanted marriages.
Prince Saif Khan is attending the house party merely for pleasure. At least that was his intention until he claps eyes on Lady Ophelia and begins, for the first time ever, to want something more serious. When Ophelia appeals to him for help with saving her friends from horrible suitors, he’s happy to step in, and to spend more time with Ophelia. But will and Indian prince and an Englishwoman find happiness together with so many trying to keep them apart?
This was another quick and enjoyable read from this delightful series. It’s not my favorite of the ones I’ve read, but I enjoyed seeing Ophelia gain confidence and finally have someone fighting in her corner. I’m still not so patiently waiting for Marlowe and Cunningham to get their just desserts.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
