Don’t miss the hot new romantic comedy follow-up to the smash hit The Negotiator… Hot, filthy rich, and usually irresistible, Hudson Carlyle just met the one woman in Harbor City who’s immune to his legendary charm. Nerdy ant researcher Felicia Hartigan is the unsexiest dresser ever. She trips over air. And she’s in love with totally the wrong man. Hudson can’t stop thinking about her. His … about her.
His regular moves won’t work here. He’s going to need a new plan, starting with helping her win over the man she thinks she wants. And if in the process she ends up falling for Hudson instead? Even better. Step one, charm her panties off. Step two, repeat step one as frequently as possible.
But what if the famous Carlyle charm finally fails him when he needs it most? Or worse, what if she figures out the one secret he’s kept from everyone, including his family, and walks away for good?

When it comes to curating your trusty group of beloved romance authors, Avery Flynn is squad goals. She just gets me and I will forever be ride or die for her books. I am a Flynnbot for life!
If there is a trope that gets my engine going, it is the “boy helps girl win over the guy she’s into but ends up falling in love with her” trope. And Avery Flynn knows how to rock it. I am such a sucker for a jealous love interest and reading about how Hudson was all flustered over Tyler was just titillating. I was hooked on the story from the very beginning. The plot continued to interest me until the very end.
Hudson and Felicia were such great characters. I felt so connected to their characters. They had excellent character development that made them seem so organic. The type of characters that you would want to be friends with in real life. I really loved their personalities and how distinct they were. I also love, love, love all of the side characters that, with all of Flynn’s books, bring so much life into the story. I just want to snatch them all up and clutch them to my chest.
Hudson and Felicia had chemistry that was off the charts. Both in and out of bed, but the bedroom scenes were hot as hell. I loved the banter between them. I liked how comfortable they were around each other and how they let each other see pieces of themselves that they didn’t share with other people. The connection that they shared was so genuine and you could feel it radiate off the page.
Overall, The Charmer is an absolute must-read! It has all of the feels, humor, and intensity that you expect from an Avery Flynn book. Such a compelling story with a lovable cast of characters. Another one knocked out of the park by Avery Flynn!

Oh! I am enjoying this series so much! I started this in audio at the worst time in my life and it has kept me from breaking down. It is Hudson’s turn and oh my he is in for it. He meets Felicia Hartigan, an ant researcher, a nerd from a large and loud family and she has a goal, she wants Tyler Jacobson, her childhood friend. Hudson sets himself up as her “coach” to help her get her man but what happens when all the moves and grooves he teaches Felicia work for him and her and they fall in love…oh my…So, so, good!
This was a fun and enjoyable read.
Hudson is the charming one of the family. Always quick with a laugh or good at defusing a situation. He has made a name for himself with his cocky grin that seems to charm the panties off women. No one seems to want to look closer at the man and find out what’s beneath until Felicia.
I absolutely loved Felicia. I saw so much of her in me an I could relate in so many ways. She is a woman who smart yet a little nerdy and can’t flirt at all. She has a mission and fortunately for her it helps a mission that Hudson has been tasked with.
These two were amazing together. I loved readying about them dancing around each other The banter was really fun to read.
Hudson Carlyle is the charming roguish one in the family. A sneaking scorching smile and the body of a Greek god. But he has a secret that not even his family knows.
Felicia Hartigan is tiny nerdy Scientist with some big chips on her shoulder thanks to being the smallest of a boisterous Irish family. She also has the hots for Tyler, Hudson’s brother’s ex-best friend.
She lights Hudson’s flames but won’t even give him a second glance. He is tasked by his mother to repair the friendship between his brother Sawyer and Tyler and thinks Felicia could help. So he charms her with the one thing she wants most, helping her to get Tyler.
While his ‘lessons’ are unconventional, his efforts are so steamy you may just want to sign up for classes. These two are delightful, smoldering and so great together! I love it. If you liked Helene Carlyle in The Negotiator, you are going to love her in The Charmer.
ooh, I really loved this book…I love me a geeky heroine and the guy that normally would never notice her. Just perfection…I also really loved that Hudson was an artist. Now I need to go read the other two books in the series!
I thought that Felicia and Hudson’s story was charming. Felicia grew up in a big family, has love of ant, Owner of a crazy cat, and has had a crush on her brother friend Tyler forever. She seeks Hudson’s help to get Tyler to notice her. Hudson has a secret he is keeping from his family and is not really good at revealing his true feelings. I thought the story unfolded well. Quick easy read.
Loved this book
Hudson & Felicia are coming to you in book 2 of the Harbor series !
Our man Hudson Carlyle was introduced to us in book one when he joined forces with his mother and intervened in his brothers love life. That went well but now he is on his own mother’s radar and is not happy about it.
Felicia or sweet quirky gal that spends most of her time in the lab researching her ants…yes ants!
She has been in love with her childhood friend forever so when Hudson offers to help her land her man . She questions his motives but starts to go along with it.
Felicia and Hudson are so funny together the more sexual innuendos he throws her way the faster she begins to spin them to work against him. They soon realize that they are enjoying this battle of wits more than they thought . Felicia has always thought she knew what she wanted in a man but The Charmer may be changing her mind!!
Fun, Romantic , sexy and full of witty banter! Loved it !

This was a funny, sexy and entertaining romantic comedy. I really liked the nerdy scientist and playboy billionaire spin. The laugh out loud banter between Felicia and Hudson and their arousing chemistry had me quickly turning the pages.
Pygmalion
We met Hudson as the charming brother in the first book of this series. In this book we find out that there is more to him than the charming playboy from the first book. He is actually a famous artist working under a pseudonym. Felicia is an ant scientist that has been in love with her neighbor, Tyler from the first book, since she was 15. Hudson agrees to give her lessons to help her get Tyler if she will let him paint her. During their lessons he falls in love with her, but feels he should sacrifice her so she can have her HEA. This is basically the Pygmalion myth, where the artist falls in love with creation.
The Charmer by Avery Flynn is the second book in her Harbor City series. A flirty, fun, sexy, romantic story told in dual POV between Hudson Carlyle and Felicia Hartigan. Can be read as a standalone but better read in series order. Each book continues with another couples story along a progressing timeline.
Hudson is the younger brother of Sawyer Carlyle from the first book, The Negotiator, and an all-around charmer (hence the title of this book). At a fundraising event he fixates on a nerdy, tiny ant researcher, Felicia, and ends up agreeing to help her begin dating his brothers best friend, Tyler. What he doesn’t plan on is the crazy chemistry they have together.
Felicia has a plan – a list – things to accomplish before she is thirty (in a month) and the last thing unchecked on this list is dating Tyler. The problem is, he doesn’t see her as anything other than a little sister. When Hudson charms his way into her life with a plan for her to nab Tyler and a small request for her to help him she is hard pressed to say no. Any attraction she feels to Hudson, while he is helping her with her Tyler issue is just transference, right?
sizzlingly sexy, laugh out loud funny, with just enough emotion and angst to keep it very interesting I thoroughly enjoyed this read! Up next, The Schemer!
A great, fun read!! Hudson is a billionaire that oozes charm but when he meets a woman who isn’t interested in his charm, he sets out to convince her otherwise. Felicia is a woman focused on researching her honeypot ants, getting her research in a highly respected science magazine and getting the man she’s been in love with since she was 15. She also has a personal deadline to achieve all this before her 30th birthday, which is right around the corner.
These two are total opposites and the dialog between them was exciting & fun with quite a few steamy scenes the will make you swoon! The swooning was my favorite part!!
“Kissing Hudson was like diving off a cliff into the ocean—exhilarating and totally nuts.”
Hudson Carlyle is hiding behind his mask of being the consummate charmer. Never to be taken seriously, Hudson plays the part of the rich playboy so well it would win him an Oscar. But when his eyes lock on petite socially awkward Felicia Hartigan, he comes across one woman he can’t get off his mind…one that is immune to his charm. The plot thickens (that’s what she said) in Avery Flynn’s The Charmer as Hudson and Felicia both think they have the perfect plan for getting what they want, but they soon learn be careful what you wish for because you may lose what you already have.
As much as I loved The Negotiator, I loved The Charmer even more! I wish I could give this story more than 5 stars! It has it all! Friendship, love, sex, humor, heartache and did I mention that Hudson is a verra naughty talker? “Why are you calling me Matches?” “Because they’re small, but when you stroke them just right, they can burn the whole place down.”
I can’t pimp out this amazing story enough! A must read!
A charming romantic comedy that will make you feel good and smile all day. I loved the whitty banter between Hudson and Felicia. The story line is well written and will keep you turning pages. I received this book as a gift this is the first I’ve read from this author but I look forward to reading more. I highly recommend and I voluntarily give this review.
4.5 Stars!
I was totally captivated by this sweet and sexy modern twist to My Fair Lady! This second book in the Harbor City series did not disappoint. It was funny, clever and very hot and steamy! We met mysterious, sexy, playboy, Hudson Carlyle in the first book and now he is back, allowing us to see he is all that, but also so much more. When he first meets nerdy ant researcher, Felicia Hartigan, he sees so much more in her than her glasses and frumpy clothes. When his mother sees her as well, she hatches a plan and enlists Hudson’s help to carry it out. Hudson finds that she has a long time crush on his brother’s friend, Tyler. So Hudson decides to help her catch his eye. But the more time they spend together, the more the lines become blurred. I loved how stubborn Felicity was and how she would never back down from a challenge. Hudson knew how to bring out her soft, sexy side, which helped to crack thru his walls as well. They were so perfect together and their chemistry was explosive. I loved the texts they sent each other, building a fun foundation for their relationship. Hudson’s Mom was a great character as well, being able to manipulate her sons stealthily and with ease. This is the perfect blend of humor, charm, emotion and steam. It captured my heart and had me totally engaged from start to finish. I definitely recommend this must read romance!
A charming story by Avery Flynn, The Chamer, book two in her Harbor City series is the perfect title for this wonderful and funny book, but you might be surprised as to who is the real charmer. What begins as someone helping another attain goals set fifteen years prior turns into a charming tale of secrets, family, humor and a steamy attraction between two people.
Carefree billionaire, Hudson Carlyle has had no trouble charming his way through life. He agrees to help ant researcher Felicia Hartigan check off that last goal on her before thirty check list, get asked out by her dream guy. He decides to play Henry Higgins to Felicia’s Eliza, My Fair Lady in modern times. This story contains a lot of flirting, a number of laughs, a few secrets on Hudson’s part, and a few unexpected twists and turns.
I really enjoyed reading this book. Ms. Flynn is an excellent storyteller, keeping me interested in this story so that I had trouble putting it down. I definitely recommend this outstanding book to other readers.

The Charmer (A Hot Romantic Comedy) (Harbor City) by Avery FlynHudson Carlyle and Felicia Hartigan’s story.
Fun Wow! Anothe. The author delivered an entertaining, funny, and hot read!
Felicia is nerdy and brilliant. She loves planning and being organized. Hudson appears to be the rich pampered boy. There is more to Hudson than he lets everyone see. Hudson and Felicia are opposites but they are perfect for one another but will they take a chance on love? I really loved the characters. Hudson is such a “charmer”. I enjoyed Hudson and Felicia’s story. This was a fantastic book.
This is book number two in the Harbor City series. This book can be read as a standalone. But if you haven’t read book number one, The Negotiator, you will want to. It was really great too. FYI, contains mature and graphic content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
This RomCom is a light-hearted, amusing read. The story is well-written and the flow is good, and I did get a few chuckles along the way. The problem, for me, is the heroine in this romance. Supposedly determined to land the elusive Tyler, Felicia’s actions are quite contrary to that. I get that she is a bit obsessive about her lists and completing them, but falling into bed with Hudson, over and over, and getting right back on task with catching Tyler before the sheets have even cooled, is not what I would expect from an accomplished woman. I did enjoy Hudson’s chase and failure to capture his love interest, as well as his run-in with her crazy feline, and the steam between this pair was fan yourself hot, but Felicia just left me with a sour feeling.
The author is talented and the writing style is quite good, so I will continue to read her books. This one just missed the mark for me.
When you see Hudson Carlyle you see a rich, sexy, confident man who leaves women weak in the knees, and dying for a moment of his attention. But what you don’t see is a man that is deathly afraid of letting his true self show, he is certain if anyone knew the truth about him his reputation would be completely ruined. Then a breath of fresh air crashes into his carefully constructed world, and turns it upside down…problem is she has no idea that she has any effect on him, and is completely immune to his panty melting charm!
Felicia Hartigan isn’t exactly bombshell material, her style is more so classified as nerdy, but for some reason unbeknownst to her she seems to have captured the attention of one the most gorgeous men in the city. It’s really quite baffling, why would a man like Hudson want to spend time with her, they come from different worlds, and have little in common. But then he makes her an offer… he’ll teach her how to win the affections of the man she has a crush on, if she helps him out with a little issue of his own. The deal seems easy enough, but shortly after things get underway, their little arrangement takes an interesting turn when Hudson’s little plan starts to work a little better than intended and she winds up having feelings for him too…
The Charmer is delightful read full of humor, heart, and passion that is sure to score a special spot in the heart of every reader!! After meeting Hudson’s brother, Sawyer, in the Negotiator I was very anxious to spend a little time with Hudson, and get to know another one of the Carlyle men, and I have to say I was thrilled with what I found!! His story was quite the literary treat, the moment him and his heroine got to together the sparks started to fly, and things got nice and steamy, and very entertaining!! I really enjoyed this one, it was a lot of fun to read, these two had me smiling and laughing throughout!! Highly recommend you give this one a try, it’s an attention grabbing read that is sure to leave you smiling!
