Love story after tragedy!!
This book was amazing. It is well written and the characters are strong. It is thought provoking, and sad in parts. Sophia is brutally assaulted by her fiance. It was so bad she almost lost her life. She was a survivor, a struggle yes but she did it. Linkin is a chaplain and when he comes into her life things change. This is their story. This book makes you think. It may bring some things to light with victims of abuse. I think this author must have done a lot of research, into this issue. I was a victim of abuse and what she wrote about it was absolutely correct. She did an amazing job on this topic. I highly recommend this book and author!!!!
The suspense in Linkin and Sophia’s story had me flipping these pages fast! Perfectly written novella that left me craving the next story. Raw and real. Lots of triggers in here if you are sensitive to abuse of all kinds.
The book starts out with Sophia having been brutally assaulted and mutilated by her boyfriend. Though I’m usually not a fan of first person points of view, this was a well-done tale, especially the shock of this opening scene. She has a plan to help her heal in her new life and her relationship with her daughter, but not everyone is on board with this idea. Eventually, however, a true relationship grows between her and her chaplain, Linkin. I loved the interpersonal relations and characterizations, as well as the strong, dark details and profession of faith.
A real story covering deep issues.
This story is not for the faint-hearted, it is real and covers terrible issues, reflecting on trauma.
But, if you like to read a novella (and it is quick and easy to read) that is real and different this is the book for you. The issues were terrible but the people were real and I felt for them and was moved by them. I think a little more story telling and a little more romance would have softened this story making it more easy to take along side the tragic events that happen.
Sacrifice for Love is an honest and unique love story that presents characters who hold strong Christian beliefs yet experience real life passions and emotions. The author is as committed to writing openly about one as she is the other and I respect her choice to include both in her work. Sophia’s story is gritty and hard to read at times because of the abuse she suffered in the recent past. Linkin, the Chaplain, is an understanding and patient hero, but still very human. I enjoyed getting to know both of then as well as the secondary characters and found myself cheering them on and turning the pages quickly to see what happened. Well done!
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It centers around wedding boutique owner named Sophia who gets brutally assaulted by her boyfriend sexually as well as mutilated with a knife. As she’s recovering in the hospital, Sophia has a military Chaplin named Linkin come and pray over her but she wants him to fake getting married so that he can get to know her daughter and help her recover. That doesn’t go over well, surprise! After time passes and counseling isn’t getting her any closer to opening up, Sophia makes a series of calls to Linkin and both feel an unspoken connection despite dark shadows from the past that haunts them both. Fate seems to have drawn them together and the story turns into a beautiful tale of transformation and growth, with a nice sprinkling of suspense and drama. It’s a real page turner and I finished it in one setting. I highly recommend this one!
Firstly just let me start with saying that there are triggers and difficult subject matters in this novel. Linkin is a chaplain who is called in to help Sophia who has been raped, beaten and stabbed by her abusive boyfriend. No spoilers; this is a must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a well written story which is emotional and heartbreaking, and I was hooked and intrigued throughout. This author has given her heart and soul into penning this story, and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.
This novella is a pretty good read that deals with sensitive issues. For the most part I enjoyed it but sometimes the interactions felt forced and it needs more editing as a couple things didn’t make sense due to typos/wrong words. I did not like the end but I would like to read the next story.
