Siamese cat Koko’s stage debut is postponed when Jim Qwilleran suspects the feline’s costar may be guilty of murder in this Cat Who mystery—the 25th in the New York Times bestselling series! Jim Qwilleran lives in Pickax, a small town 400 miles north of everywhere, and writes for a small newspaper. He stands tall and straight. He dates a librarian. His roommates are two abandoned cats that he … abandoned cats that he adopted along the way, one of them quite remarkable. Qwilleran has a secret that he shares with no one—or hardly anyone. His male cat, Koko, has an uncanny intuition that can tell right from wrong and frequently sniffs out the evildoer…
Retiring in Pickax, actress Thelma Thackeray has decided to start a film club and organize a fundraiser revue, starring Koko the cat. But Thelma’s celebrated arrival takes an unpleasant turn when the strange circumstances of her twin brother’s recent death seem suspicious to Jim Qwilleran. Qwill needs a helping paw in this case. But will Koko deign to take time from his stage debut?

I have the entire series. Enjoyable. Clean good read.
Another fantastic Cat Who book! This edition finds Qwill and the kitties 400 miles north of everywhere and interested in the newest Pickax community member … or actually, one of its oldest returning community members. Thelma Thackeray returns to Pickax from Hollywood where she ran several successful eateries after trying her hand at the big screen in her early years. She has returned to live on Pleasant Street to try to help out her nephew now that her brother, his father, has passed away. She decides to open a theater showing old films in the defunct old opera house. The nephew is less than a stellar individual and smiles far too much and Qwill and others are concerned about Thelma, especially after the kidnapping of her beloved parrots. Of course all the regulars are featured, Polly, Arch, Mildred, Bushy, and many others in Pickax and of course the beautiful siamese, Koko and Yum Yum are featured throughout. How will things turn out in this edition of The Cat Who…? I suggest you take the time to read and find out for yourself!
Very fun, cozy mystery series. Recommended for people who enjoy interesting characters, a well-formed world to explore, relationships between characters, and no blood or gore often common in mysteries. Altogether enjoyable.
The whole series is fantastic.
What could be wrong with Quilleren, Koko and Long Ling
I have been reading Jackson browne’s books for years and I absolutely love them

Not her best work, but it’s still entertaining.
Fun and entertaining
3 out of 5 stars to The Cat Who Brought Down the House, the 25th book in the “Cat Who” cozy mystery series written in 2003 by Lilian Jackson Braun. What do you do when a crazy actress-type stars a theatre troupe in your hometown and wants your cat to be the main star. Run for the hills, Qwill. She’s got cuckoo written all about her and you’ve had your fair share of those in the past. But you won’t listen to me, you never do. Maybe I should jump into the book by channeling my inner Thursday Next, so I can protect you. A cute cozy mystery involving twin siblings (1 male, 1 female)… I think…. and something is amiss when one twin dies. But it’ll take a near murder of his own for Qwill to figure it out. It was near the end of the series and very easy to get thru. A little light with the plot, but it had some room for more. Still love the series… and sad when I said goodbye after 30 books.
I have read the entire series and loved every one. I now have the set and can go back and read again, which is not something I usually do. I love the characters and many of them return to other the other books, plus I’m a cat lover, so that a winner for me.
As always these are very cozy mysteries. I love the well rounded personalities of the characters and the laid back style of the writing. I find them amusing and well balanced. They are not violent or graphic, but well written. I highly recommend this book and the series.
