Safe in the ivory tower…Gabriel Miller swears he’ll keep me safe. Enemies lurk outside, waiting to strike. An army held back by these walls.Except some animal instinct warns me the danger is much closer. It’s already here. Is Gabriel my protector or my enemy? Is this house a castle or a cage? There’s nowhere for me to go, no one left for me to trust. No escape from a past determined to capture … escape from a past determined to capture its prize.

I have love each book in this series, the dark secrets, the twists and turns that keep you hooked throughout and awake until the early hours because there was never a convenient place to stop and take a break.
The writing was easy to follow, descriptive, intense and had some seriously scorching hot sex scenes… This is the first series I have read by this author but I will definitely be reading her others and following her going forward.
Skye warren has created a dark and raw character in the shape of Gabriel Miller, he’s a force to be reckoned with, you can feel his power and strength oozing off each page in spades. I absolutely fell in love with Gabriel.
Avery transforms from being a very naive girl to a women who embraces her inner strength to fight off her demons that she hasn’t realised she’s suppressed. She is a formidable character in her own right and is the ying to Gabriel’s yang.
The references to chess moves and pieces as the story unfolds was a brilliant addition to this cleverly woven story of hidden secrets. I still have so many questions that I didn’t felt were addressed or perhaps I missed them?? It did feel like it was incomplete, but without posting spoilers I can’t elaborate. I have read that there will be a further book depicting Damon Scott’s story so perhaps some will be answered there.
I would definitely recommend this series if you like families with dark and twisted secrets that have been buried in the past. This is a must read !!
~ 4.5 Stars ~
“I’ve grown addicted to ruin.”
Man, that was a fun ride and I definitely didn’t want it to end. The Castle is the last book in the Endgame Series and must be read in order so if you haven’t read The Pawn and The Knight, please stop and go read those first. You will be lost. Plus, you need to experience Gabriel and Avery’s story from the start. It’s raw and dark and fantastically amazing.
I have to admit that the first part of the book had me a little worried. There was so much going on in the first two books with so many twists and turns that I was expecting to get that out of the gate in The Castle. When that didn’t happen, I started to get nervous. If you feel this way at any point, DO NOT WORRY. You will be throat punched when you least expect it. I’ve never been so happy to be throat punched. Haha
It’s hard not to give anything away but I will say this, I love the theme of the chess game combined with Greek mythology and true dark suspense. I loved watching the mystery of Gabriel fade away and his undying love for Avery shine. He always tells her that he’s not good for her, which only makes me melt more. I love the bad guys who fall hard and let me tell you, Gabriel plummeted.
“No, little virgin. That’s what I decided to ruin you.”
AHHH, these two. So raw and honest. And I loved that Avery really becomes the strong woman that she was always meant to be. She isn’t nearly as fragile as people think she is and she just happens to be the one person that can handle Gabriel.
Overall, I loved this book and this series. It’s gripping and consuming and keeps you dying for more. Make sure you read this. You do not want to miss out on Gabriel Miller and the game of chess that he has calculated and executed from the start. Well done, Skye! You had me hooked from start to finish. I can’t wait to see what you do next!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
Welcome to The Castle. The third and final book in Skye Warren’s End Game Series. You must read The Pawn and The Knight before The Castle or your going to be terribly lost.
Gabriel Miller has made and ivory tower for Avery and she is safe. Enemies however lurk outside waiting to strike at any given moment. They are only held back by the walls of Gabriel’s castle. Avery however gets the feeling that the dangers are a lot closer. As in already there. Is Gabriel her protector or her enemy? Is she safely in his castle or his cage? Avery has no where to go and no one to trust. There is no escape from a past determined to capture its prize.
How I love spending time with Gabriel and Avery. Over the last two books I have come to love them so much. Gabriel the knight in shining armor and Avery the princess in the tower that needs saving. However in this world Gabriel is the King and his heart belongs to his Queen. However there is great danger waiting for the Queen and Gabriel is more than determined to keep her safe. This book was a huge mystery to me and I can say that I never figured it out until it was revealed in the book. Books that have you guessing till just that moment are so much fun to read. Secrets are kept and revealed in this book and all is not exactly how it should be in Avery’s life. This poor girls has been through it and in some ways she doesn’t even realize it. I loved here strength and how finding these secrets and dangers just brought out this fierce girl inside of her. Sometimes people just do not realize how strong they are till there pushed to be. I don’t know how I would have reacted to this situation or if I would have been strong enough to find out. You just have to love a strong female character. I always say the world needs more of them.Avery too never lost her compassion and humanity and that made me love here ever more. Gabriel is still just as dreamy in my eyes. I don’t think I for my part, ever looked at him as a villain in this story. He did what he had to do. He knows what he needs to know and some things are absolutely not his fault. He knew what he wanted. Did what he had to get it. He protected it with his whole being. You can’t say that about many people and I loved that about him.
Skye Warren has written a series that I have absolutely loved getting lost in over these three books. I can not wait to get my hands on the spin off The King. I just know that Damon and Penny’s story. I just know that these two characters who we got a peek at in The Castle have one heck of a story to tell. Thank you Skye Warren for writing such an amazing series and for the privilege for reading and reviewing it. If you love dark books that push you, keep you guessing, and on the edge of your seat, you do not want to miss Skye Warren’s books.
Did not care for the ending
Couldn’t put down this wonderfully well written story and characters!! Skye Warren is one of my new favorites!!
“Hearing voices. Chasing cars. I’m a little bit insane.”
“You’re a queen, little virgin.”
~Avery & Gabriel~
I loved this series and I gotta say I’m so sad that it is over I have fallen in love with all these characters and I don’t ever want to let them go. I want to pull a Gabriel and keep them all locked away in an ivory tower. The twists and turns that Skye Warren takes you on is like being on a roller coaster with all the ups and downs throughout this entire series and this one book alone. I was smiling one minute and completely frustrated the next right along with Avery. I can’t wait to see what Skye comes up with next she is a master with the dark and dangerous side of romance.
Can’t get enough of this love story
Skye Warren is one of my go to authors and the Endgame series is the epitome of the many reasons why. The Castle is the conclusion of Gabriel and Avery’s story and I literally ugly cried as I read the epilogue.
Gabriel Miller is dark, dominant and powerful, a badge he wears and makes no excuses for, he’s guarded, secretive and protective and in this book, Gabriel becomes human, not weak, just human. Avery James, so young and sheltered, so much to learn, so naive…but, oh so resilient.
I appreciate that the characters remain believable throughout because the author doesn’t engage in insta-metamorphosis, our male character doesn’t become soft and gooey because of love, and our female doesn’t become a sultry vixen.
This story left me breathless, full of unanticipated twists…
The danger is depraved and violent…
The reveals are despicable and heartbreaking…
The sex is edgy and passionate…
The aftermath, emotional and satisfying… *sigh*
This one (series) will go on my “will re-read” list, it’s that good.
Thank you Skye!
I read all three of Sky Warren books, The Spawn, The Castle, and The knight. The first whet my apatite for the second and that one for the third. It’s rare for me to read a series where the second and third are as good if not better than the first. If you want to read a great series, read this one. I haven’t read any book by Skye Warren that wasn’t terrific. My only problem is I wanted a fourth book and more. She brought forth some great characters and some great plots. She is a MUST read.
(Cannot be read as a standalone.)
“I know how to break you if I need to.”
An unforgettable dark masterpiece. I literally couldn’t put this down. Everything about this series is perfect!!!! The hot scenes, the mystery, the violence.
In this final book, Gabriel tries to protect his queen by keeping her in his castle surrounded by guards. She’s in great danger, and Gabriel does everything in his power to destroy the threat. But there is a problem. How do you catch a ghost?
Avery feels trapped and doesn’t feel safe at Gabriel’s home. She doesn’t know if she should stay or leave. She feels like she’s losing her mind at times and doesn’t know who to trust. The only thing she’s sure about is her feelings towards Gabriel.
I’m so sad that this series is over. The story constantly surprised me and kept me glued to the pages. I loved the twists and turns. I also enjoyed seeing all the other characters, and I hope to see them again in the future. The only tiny issue I had with this book was the lack of Avery’s father. He’s not really involved in this book, and that felt a little weird. But even though his presence was small, the journey was amazing. Skye Warren is a twisted genius, and I’m definitely going to read her other books soon.
