Sometimes the road to happiness is longer than we’d like … time they’re eighteen, the two of them are inseparable. The future looks bright. Everything feels perfect.
But when tragedy strikes, fate sets the pair on a different course.
While circumstances keep Logan and Isla apart, their bond is not so easily broken.
The course of true love might not run smoothly but a bumpy road can still take you exactly where you’re supposed to be …
While this is the second book in the Loch Lannick series it can also be enjoyed as a standalone novel.

Enjoyable story.
I enjoyed that this book that took place in beautiful Loch Lenrich Scotland. This is my first read by this author. I really like the author’s writing style; especially the unfolding at a easy pace. The characters were very believable and the stories compelling. The family is vey warm and inviting. I am looking forward to reading more of this family sagas.
I had visited this area and this castle on a trip to Ireland and found the description of the area and the people very accurate and entertaining. Made me long for a return visit.
It was a sweet story; first love, true love, everlasting love.
While at first I thought it was just a simple love story, one gets introduced to this family and one gets to know them. Between the two main characters there is deep love but actually it often gets thwarted because certain things that happen get interpreted the wrong way. Sometimes this happens by someone else jumping to a conclusion when making a remark. I thought the author does this in a very clever way and one gets to know the thought processes that often tear them apart.
It was a good story, it it drug on a bit in places.
Charming characters in a wonderful small town. Lovely story, but it went on a bit long for me. Still very enjoyable, though. I didn’t read the first book in this series but that was no problem. I might read another in the series.
The characters are well built, the story is believable and makes you think about others.
Because I have been to the area where this story occurs, I could see the landscapes and feel like I was with the characters. Enjoyed some twist and turns before the satisfying ending.
I loved this book. Childhood best friends grow up and find love, only to lose it and live apart for three years trying to come to terms with their lost relationship. Eventually, they make their way back to each other. True love conquers all obstacles. A feel good story that makes you want to read it again.
Loved it, but anguished by all the stumbling blocks and blunders in the main romance, as a result of grief, misunderstandings, etc. Wish the young man suffering grief could have gotten some grief counselling. It would have helped smooth out the “roller coaster romance” considerably. But then, the story would have been “too sweet and smooth.” This certainly kept the reader totally engrossed and “turning the pages.” Karla B.
This is a story of first love and conflict, family dynamics and friendship. The plot is unique and the characters are flawed and seem real. I thought it was a refreshing read.
A really good book.
Too predictable.
It’s an interesting and thorough character study of a family and it’s ups and downs. It’s a story on risk and opening up to friendship and love. It’s a story about what happens when people make assumptions and don’t talk to one another. It’s a story about misdirected and selfish love.
It’s also a story about what happens when parents are more friends to their children than the parent as is their responsibility. And it’s a story about the lack of instruction and training on morals and appropriate behaviour for children and young people when parents don’t set up rules or provide guidance on living.
It has it all very well put in a good story
Yes, I enjoyed this book. My ancestry is from the Scottish Highlands so it’s interesting to read of the lochs and towns & cities in the area. But I think the author downloaded a template from the internet and filled in the formula. Boy & girl meet as kids and grow up together. Tragic event—boy’s father died. A love triangle develops. None of the characters can communicate feelings so misunderstandings abound. Everything turns out OK in the end. Story over.
Loved this book. Wished I had figured out it was the second in a series before diving in. I have bought the first to catch up.
It was an enjoyable read.
