Would you choose to live forever, if you could? Penny Banks, PI and amateur witch, is feeling a bit overwhelmed. She’s studying magic along with her knitting circle, and the Water Spell proves difficult to master. The spell directions don’t make sense, she’s not sure where to get a chalice, and her cauldron is filled with moldy bananas. On top of that, things with her boyfriend, vampire Max … boyfriend, vampire Max Shire, are not going great. He wants her to become a vampire, but is she ready for that? Living forever seems like a lot of work…
It’s a good thing she has a case to distract her from her personal troubles! A teen in town has gone missing, and his mother is sure he was kidnapped. Penny’s happy to take the case…. Can she solve it?

A great book with lots of heart. Penny is incredibly strong though she doesn’t realize it. Magic and mystery at it’s finest. I love the characters and the supernatural aspects of this series.
Thanks to being part of Amorette Anderson’s ARC group, I got a free copy to read. I absolutely loved this book. The amazing way Amorette writes just continually amazes me. With each book, while carrying a great storyline, she makes each book unique. I know when reading her books, I’m not going to figure out what will happen which I love. This is truly one of the most amazing books I’ve been privileged to read. If you haven begun the Hhillcrest Witches series, do yourself a favor and start. If you have, this book will wow you!
Holy cow, if you haven’t read any of this series, you have to start. This book is the best one yet. There are so many twists and turns, and the most emotional ending that left me wanting the next book right now!! Amorette Anderson has really outdone herself with this series, but especially with this book. If you like fun and witchy cozy’s, you will be hooked! I recieved this book as an ARC in return for my honest opinion, and if I could give it 100 stars, I would!!
Loved this book. As part of the series and despite what I thought about the other books which I loved, this proved to be another great book by Amorette Anderson. I recommend this book and her books everyone can read. I love the fact that uses animals to help solve mysteries in her books.
Parents, Grandparents and Caregivers if your not sure about your child reading the book read it first then make your decision. I think you’ll agree this book is one everyone can read.
Go buy, read and review this book and her other books. I know she’ll appreciate it.Amorette Anderson thank you for such a wonderful book.
A mother is beside herself when her son disappears. She hires Penny to investigate what she believes is a kidnapping. There is a murder in town, everyone is thinking its a drug deal gone bad. Are the two connected? That is what Penny is trying to determine. On top of all of this, they find out Cora is going to have plural babies, and the coven is working on the “Water Spell”. Very fun read as always. Amorette Anderson knows how to tell a story that keeps you up way past bed time just so you can keep turning the pages, until there is no more. I received an ARC copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A distraught mother comes to Penny to find her son Brendon. She says he. Has been kidnapped but the police say they found him with his Dad in California. Penny tries to give the money back but the mother is insistent. Meanwhile there was a murder of a drug deal in there town. Penny and her coven are working on the Water Spell and she is dealing with intense emotions. With the help of Turkey her cat and her coven can she put it all together and still deal with the new spell?
This is another great episode in the series “A Hillcrest Witch Mystery”. It is packed with creative and amazing characters that keep you glued to the story. The author expertly weaves all the elements (emotional drama, romance, personal grow, friendship, a murder mystery, a missing boy) into an easy read cozy mystery that keeps you going up to the end and then finishes with a surprising twist.
The scene where Penny is working on the water spell and dealing with her emotion pulled at my heart strings. The dialogue is great and the narrative adds greatly to the story. But for me the personal growth the coven members went throu was inspiring. It is a truly amazing paranormal cozy mystery series. AHappy reading.
If I wasn’t hooked on this series yet, this book would have done it for me. This one has the most awesome ending of any book in the series so far. Penny deals with a lot of emotions regarding several aspects of her life while they are preparing for the water spell. Lots of major events happen, which I will not even hint at to give away spoilers. Some readers are going to want a tissue box handy, as there is a little finality and clarity to several things with some special unexpected twists. I’m really looking forward to what happens in the next book as Penny has really grown as a person, witch, and investigator.
Another amazing, witchy book by this author. It’s well written and a fun book to read. I will buy every book Ms. Anderson writes (and I have). If you enjoy cozy mysteries, you should buy this book, too.
This is the best book in the series so far, I think. The writing and story line are more solid, and held my interest right up to the end, with a twist I was not expecting. I look forward to the next one to come out.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.
OMG! As a person who is a preview reader or ARC I get to read Ms Anderson’s books before released. But please understand I will always give an honest review and this book in the Hillcrest series was the best! Each book in the series has been better as we are not only learning about the main character Penny and watching her grow but the other members of the coven also. This one once again kept me caught until the end but the ending was action packed, unexpected and left me begging for the next one! I totally recommend the entire series of the Hillcrest Witches if you enjoy magical mysteries with humor and wit thrown in!
Amorette reveals secrets in this one Sorry but I promised not to tell so you will have to read it to find out. Penny’s coven is doing great.studying hard and learning a lot. Penny and Max are better than ever at the end and Cora and Silas are awaiting the arrival of pup(s)/babie(s). Marley and Annie are wonderful, Ain’t it great when everyone is in love? Can’t wait for the next book to find out how the secrets progress!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The spell books just get better and better with each one, a delight to read
Most stories catch your attention and take you on a journey. This book will take you on a personal quest with “Penny”. So much of her story is relatable, you’ll not only understand but find relatable to yourself. If you haven’t read the entire series, get it now. Everyone needs a little “Penny” in their life.
I am in awe of the multi-talented Amorette Anderson who has such a creative mind to flesh out her thoughts and ideas and put them to paper! She is a treasure to the literary world in my opinion!
This is the best story yet due to the final couple of chapters where her life takes a turn she didn’t think she could make and another surprise right after that!
You will laugh and shed tears in this one because these characters are your friends and what happens to them affects you- their highs and lows and the love they have for each other. Who wouldn’t want that in their life?
I urge readers old and young to delve into this series from the beginning where you just can’t help but like Penny because she has the human insecurities we all have in one degree or another. Through it all she perseveres and is rewarded for her efforts and those of her knitting circle of friends as they embrace a little book that was bequeathed to her by someone she really didn’t know accept in passing. That book changes her life and hat of her friends!
It is wonderful to see the changes in all of them but in Penny especially as she finally can let go of the past-something we all need to do however hard it may be. Our past mistakes truly hold us back!!
Thank you Amorette for such an amazing book! I look forward to at least 5 more books in this series and I feel each one will continue to build from the previous one as these last to especially have done!!
I love Penny and the gang. There is a correlation between the preparation for the Water spell and the case Penny is working on. A women, Lauren, believes that her son, Benton, has been kidnapped, hurt, etc. We learn rather quickly that he moved to California to live with his Dad. Complications and questions ensue. First, Benton begins acting strange on the day that Whitey was discovered murdered. Lou, who had previously been struck by lightning and survived, was accused of his murder. From here on out, several twisted and disturbing scenarios make everything as clear as fine dirt in water. This is an exciting, action-packed read with a little tear drop scene or two. I had a hard time putting this book down to go to sleep until I finished it! Epic!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The coven all need to resolve their specific issues on the way to learning the water spell. Many surprises and lots of good reading. Penny has to resolve her father issues and does she want to be a vampire and live forever? Cora has surprise information regarding her pregnancy. Penny also has to solve the case of the missing teen.
I loved this book. Each one in the series is better than the one before. And Penny is growing up. I highly recommend reading these books in order.
Love this series, the writer keeps you hooked in and wanting more. Can’t wait for the next in the series.
OMG This was the very best one yet. I empathized so much with her feeling’s about her father, Max and her future but most of all with her final decision. The ending was perfect and I cannot wait to find out where it all leads her in the future. Not the least of anything was finding out there are going to be surprises with the impending birth. I hope all these hints have made you eager to find out what’s going on because you are going to love this series. It is very sweet and enlightening.

To cash in, or not to cash in, that is the question!
I understand cats can act like they re the only beings who have any intelligence. Even though sometimes you might wish you could strangle the Furball(s), for showing off in public.
This book starts off slower than the other books in this series. While I have a theory about parts of the underlying case, the rest is still unfolding. {Growing up with less than most, cash was always a constant consideration, so my first impulse would be to follow the money.} Follow this with a master storyteller, errr reporter, anonymous tips are as much of an oxymoron as “military intelligence,” TANSTAAFL!
Looking for a change of office/address? Murder/ robbery can get you an exclusive small office for quite a few years. Not to mention that there is no statute of limitations, so there is always room for the perpetrators at the inn.
I wrote the above about five chapters from the end. I wish I could say that I nailed it, however, I didn t even come close.
You have to get this book and see if you can figure out: What?, How?, Why? (even comes into play this time around), and most importantly Who? done them.
Live life,

Wow the gang has grown amazingly. What a wonderful story. This series is getting better with each new story. Penny is actually acting like a grown woman, Cora is married and awaiting the birth of her and Silas baby, Annie is happily living with Fred and Marley has Justin. Everyone is growing in their powers and living the life they love. Penny’s new PI case brings her closer to danger and she finally makes decisions about her life that she has been putting off. You will really enjoy this series.
I recieved this book from bookfunnel as an ARC and this is my honest opinion. This book had so much action especially towards the end that I can’t say anything that happened without leaving spoilers. I really enjoyed it and I felt it went farther than just a cozy. I loved it.
