Do you think the body’s eyes really see? How do you see in a dream? When the town librarian brings Penny a document with a forged signature on it, it’s up to Penny to get to the bottom of it. Someone isn’t happy to have Penny poking around for clues. Rich Dempsey, a retired mine worker, is killed. Could a mysterious gold nugget hold the answers?
This is the best book in this series so far!
Rebecca the serious librarian / president of the Historical Society has a new case for Penny the PI witch. A puzzle. But first, Penny has a date with Max the vampire. Priorities! Lol.
Penny’s awkwardness is so endearing! She’s not the most coordinated person in the world, to put it mildly. Especially when she’s with Max; she and Max are still in that ‘new-love phase’ and she gets super clumsy around him. She still finds it hard to think straight when she’s around him. But her self-confidence is growing and that’s good to see. And she’s really working hard on being tactful. She’s becoming wiser and more powerful, but luckily for us she isn’t mature all the time. She’s still the sometimes immature, sometimes socially awkward Penny that I’ve come to love. So much fun to read about!
Penny actually thinks this case is going to be boring. Ha! Bwahaha!!!
Turkey’s bringing in the money online; he’s gotten so good with the laptop! He is really getting addicted to being online. He is such a wiz online! He really helps Penny out a lot. He’s one smart familiar and I think he’s so aww cute!
The story is embellished by drawings, and they really add to the story. This is the best book in this series so far, and they were all 5-star reads. So I’d like to give this one 10 stars!
I loved reading this book. It was fun, witty and so much more. This book was a page turner. It was unpredictable too. I just loved it. If I could rate it more than 5 stars I would. Amorette Anderson did a wonderful job.
Another great book by my all-time favourite author! How do you improve on perfection? You just keep creating the magic you are gifted with. This next book of the Witches of Hillcrest series is a continuation that shows how the girls are learning and growing. No longer super-bumbling through cases, Penny is growing and maturing in her role as Hillcrest’s only PI. And the witches of the Earth Coven are staying on track as they learn to become comfortable in their new role as witches. A light-hearted story about them, along with a story of deceit, greed and murder on the side. Enjoy!
Oh my, that was interesting! Marley gets her familiar and a family mystery is solved. Turkey proves to be a most resourceful cat! This series is a blast! I love it!
Fast fun easy cozy read. You will Love it. I got done in a day.
Okay quickie run down on book. Penny gets paid for a case. The Girls are working on the Vision Spell and having their issues understanding the spell. Learning process. There is a a problem with a signature that leads to a murder but why and who is responsible is up to you to read.
Turkey you go. Welcome to Skili. Can’t wait to see what you can do.
Love that there is an explanation why everyone has the familiar they have and their uniqueness with their witch.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
5 Stars

Title:
To see or not to see ~ this is the question!
We pick up our bumbling private investigator in February, still wanting work to conform to her schedule. Penelope/Penny needs to learn that when you hang up your sign that you re available for hire, you cease to have a normal life and it usually works exactly opposite of what your hopes and dreams for your business would be.
We soon see this case beginning with a brains and brawn type of relationship.
{Ever think that the difficulty hearing could be an act? Hiding behind something that either isn t there, or Not not as bad as believed.
Could Marley have an unknown “Uncle” {grandfather and Victoria}?}
Marley doesn t feel right about asking her dad to get a hotel room for his visit, because her preferred home is a THOW {Tiny House On Wheels}. She just needs to realize that: “house-less” doesn t mean that your van isn t a home! California where he prefers to live has far more who live in THOWs than Colorado.
You have to get this book! It easily exceeds the last one, and reads easily.
I got this for a review. I only do honest and just reviews, that s the only way to write them.
This is another great Hillcrest Witch Mystery by Amorette Anderson. This is a good, clean, funny series that is a must read. In this book, the witches in training are working on Cycle Five of becoming a witch — the Vision Spell. As Penny sits in her Private Investigator’s office, Rebecca Brown, the local librarian comes in with a job for Penny. She is researching Felix Greene, who will be receiving the Hero of Hillcrest Award soon at the Nigh of Hillcrest History for saving an employee, Rich Dempsey, in a mining accident several years ago. Rebecca has found a copy of Felix’s will which appears to have a forged signature on it. She gives Penny $50 to find out the truth. Penny thinks this will be an easy job. However, it turns into much more than a forged signature. Felix just happens to be her best friend’s, Marley, grandfather. Penny’s coven includes Annie, the owner of The Death Cafe, Cora, who is pregnant with her werewolf fiance’s child, and Marley, her best friend since kindergarten.
Penny interviews Rich Dempsey and his wife Victoria (who happens to make the best iced tea in Hillcrest) to see what they know about the accident and the will. She also interviews Marley’s Dad, Owen Greene. Rich winds up dead of an apparent heart attack which Penny thinks is a murder.
The coven is now tasked with finding out the truth about the will, the death of Rich Dempsey and protecting the portal which would allow others into the Earth Realm.
Azure Spincraft, an air witch, who will be Cora’s sister-in-law, appears with her suitcase in hand to help the girls with their training.
All but Annie now have their familiars. Penny has her cat, Turkey. Cora has her little dog, Blueberry Muffin. In this book Marley gets her familiar, an owl named Skili, who she thinks was her grandmother in a past life.
Lastly, this book has romance. Penny’s current boyfriend is Dr. Max Shire, a vampire who is hundreds of years old. While working on the death of Rich Dempsey, Penny’s old boyfriend, Captain Chris Wagner, from the Hillcrest Police Department, is helping Penny find the answers. There appears to be some feelings left on the table between these two. Who knows who she will wind up with in the next book in the series.
The Case of the Vision Spell is a fun, witty book filled with the characters that we have grown to love. It was good to see the Terra Coven come more into their own. Penny is a hoot and I love how she deals with the situations that’s she’s in while sleuthing. I know that there are more adventures ahead and I can’t wait to read them all.
I have received an advanced copy of this book, and I am leaving my honest and voluntary opinion.
Penny and Turkey are back with Annie, Cora, and Marley for more magic and mayhem in this latest mystery by Amorette Anderson. Rebecca Brown, the local librarian, is planning the Hero of Hillcrest award ceremony for Marley’s grandfather, Felix Greene. Felix saved a local miner, Rich Dempsey, from a collapsing mine before he died from head injuries several decades ago while mining for gold. A very suspicious Rebecca noticed a different signature on Felix’s will that does not match his original signature in the historical mining documents. Penny decides this will is a forgery and looks into this case at the librarian’s insistence as to what happened to Felix?
During this investigation, Penny’s love life is getting complicated while gathering information on several suspects. An old boyfriend is interested in her but not her witchcraft abilities is added into the romance mix while looking for clues. Meanwhile, Penny enlists Turkey’s help regarding the signatures and the mining shaft accident. While investigating this case, Penny finds out that another death happened after questioning Rich and his wife, Victoria Dempsey regarding the long ago mining accident. Penny is suspicious these two deaths are related that may lead to murder. Can Penny and Turkey solve the murder in time before the award ceremony and save the Greene’s family legacy?
This is the best story in the Hillcrest Witch Mystery series. Ms. Anderson did an outstanding job of character development of Penny and Marley. Marley gets a new familiar that is a perfect fit for her. I have learned some interesting facts regarding the different types of familiars that adds to this fascinating read. I love the fact that I am catching up with old friends of Annie, Cora, Silas, Max, and Marley’s daily lives. This storyline is well thought out that kept me interested to the exciting end. The character development of the coven is growing each time they learn a new spell which adds sparkle to this plotline. The friends’ close bond is a huge plus in this series, they are forming as a famiy that can depend on each other throughout the highs and lows of their lives.
This book is a great fun light read full of mystery and magic. I do look forward to more exciting paranormal mysteries with Penny, Turkey, and the Hillcrest Terra Coven in future adventures. I was given an ARC for a honest review.
I just LOVE this series! I laughed out loud, chewed my nails and shed a tear or two and it was all worth it. Amorette has a way with words that draw you into the story as if you are a part of it. I can’t wait to read the next book!
I just love reading the Hillcrest Witch Cozy books. Amorette has great ideas and Penny, I’m so proud of the growth as an adult and a witch that she’s having. Marley had a lot of soul searching to do this book. I also liked the development of the air witch Azure. Waiting not so patiently for book 6.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Whether they’re casting on stitches or casting spells, the Hillcrest Knitting Circle/Terra Coven is always a feel-good treat.
Our heroine, Penny Banks — who got her PI certification online — is in full detective mode trying to find who forged the signature and will of Hillcrest’s hometown hero. With the help of her telepathic guidance from her feline familiar, Turkey, she’s actually honing her PI skills. She’s thinking better, but still commits some cring-worthy faux pas before she thinks. She’s happy with her vampire lover Max. She and her witchy sisters have growing magic, too, as they faithfully follow their photocopied pages of the book about becoming witches. They’re afraid of the Vision Spell, however, because some of their prior spells didn’t go the way they intended. Nobody wants to lose her eyes! The Hillcrest witches books are light, happy reading with some laugh-out-loud situations. With each case and each spell, the girls grow and glow with pride in themselves. I highly recommend spending your time with Penny and her friends.
Really enjoyable read. Private investigator/Witch Penny solves another mystery with the help of her knitting club/coven. I was happy to meet Marley’s new familiar. Penny solves the mystery of who killed a Miner owner and where the gold went. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest opinion.
This was a really fun read. Penny, a witch in training, is a PI in her regular life. She gets a case about an old will possibly being forged. She thinks it will only take a few hours to solve. Turns out to be a lot more involved. She’s also working with her new coven/knitting circle to master a vision spell. All in all it’s a really fun, quirky time!
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
The Case of the Vision Spell is another winner! Penny is a local P.I. as well as a witch in training, along with her friends. The story is fast paced, well written and full of interesting characters. Every time I pick up the newest book in this series, I feel like I am visiting old friends. I highly recommend!
Once again Penny is thrown in over her head. The simply case turns in a major case. The snickers and wanting to help her figure things out comes out in a wonderful story everyone needs to read. This series get better with each book. I love the characters and their animal familiars. Once again this should be on your to be read list!!
The Terran Coven is getting stronger with each cycle they complete in their how-to-be-a-witch book. This time it’s the Vision Spell, but before they can focus on that, Penny must unravel the story behind the forged will that belonged to Marley’s grandfather.
Penny is really coming into her own as a PI, with practice and Turkey’s help. She follows her intuition, which predictable gets her in some tight spots, but it’s all in the effort to find the truth. There are a lot of twists in this story, and history can change depending on who’s telling it.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.
Penny has a new case and it involves possible forged documents. When the library plans to hold a special event honoring a local deceased mine owner, the town librarian wants to make sure that everything is in order. When comparing some documents, she notices the signature of the mine owner’s will does not match others on record. The mine owner happens to be Marley’s great grandfather, so Penny takes the case in hopes of clearing up the situation. Penny soon discovers that Marley’s grandfather may not have died from a heroic act, but instead killed for a mysterious million dollar gold nugget. While all this is happening Penny’s coven is hard at work studying witchcraft and must give up their fears to complete the next spell in their lessons; the vision spell.
What I love most about this series are the ladies in the coven. Not only are they of different ages and backgrounds, but they each have their own personal gifts that they bring to the mix. I also love that as they are moving towards becoming full-fledged witches, they each are meeting for the first time their familiars. The familiars seem to perfectly match the newby witches personalities and add a special touch to each book in the series.
‘Learning to do magic has really changed my world.“
Penny Banks, novice private investigator, member of the Terra Coven of Hillcrest, is learning many things since she has begun to trust herself and her friends and fellow witches: Cora, Marley and Annie. They may not do all the esoterica around spell casting, but their spells work as each has manifested change within themselves.
Penny has been hired(!) to search Marely’s grandfather’s will as Rebecca the town librarian has found some anomalies around his signature. Little does she know just what will be found in the ensuing investigation.
In this, the 5th of the Hillcrest Witches series, Amorette Anderson tell us another story about Penny and her familiar Turkey, and just how she is allowing magic to change and challenge her perspectives. We get some “backstory” around Marley’s family and Hillcrest history, as well as how things aren’t always as they seem. The whole cast of characters including Chris,Max and Aurora are back and it just works. Highly Recommended 5/5
