Such is the life of a witchy PI!
It’s like eating popcorn out of a bottomless bowl: I just couldn’t seem to stop! I loved every minute of it!
Arthur French is dead. Who killed him? Who wanted him dead? Penny and her witch friends try to find his killer, while working on cycle 10 of becoming a witch: the Spirit Spell. And Cora is heavily pregnant with triplets.
Penny is so funny. I can’t help but smile the whole time while reading about her. She has grown so much throughout the series, but luckily she’s still funny and a bit silly sometimes, and blunt as ever! But she did come a long way. And I’d just love to be able to eat like she does!!!
The tone of the story is light-hearted, but don’t be fooled by that! There are some real wisdom-gems in this book! Some interesting facts about good and evil within all of us. As always, the story is a good mix between things to learn and funny, light-hearted things. A mystery to solve, things to learn, but a whole lotta smiles in between! Chicklit with magic and murder! Speaking about the mystery: that had a surprising ending, one that I didn’t see coming!
And Turkey: he can’t stay unmentioned. He has developed quite the online shopping habit, but since he brings in most of the money, Penny lets him. Not that he would accept her objections in this anyway, LOL.
You could read this as a standalone, things are explained well, but why would you want to? This series is too amazing to miss out on any of the installments! Start with the prequel.
This kindle ARC was Excellent. I loved this book and the fact everyone can read it. Easy to read and a page turner. I recommend it highly and recommend you go out and buy it and read. You’ll love it.
Death at the softball field, a new experience! Penny has been a P I. at quite a few murders by now. This is her first at a soft all field. Penny is getting better and better at her super sleuthing skills. She’s even figuring out murders before the police office can. Penny and Turkey are great companions. Turkey is teaching her spelling and keeping her up to date on her P.I. Sskills, as well as earning his own money through the internet.Turkey is one smart cat. Penny is getting better and better all the time. Max is still there although he isn’t talked about alot. Join Penny and her coven in Hillcrest as they help her solve murders and learn new spells.
“When this spell is complete, you will see your reflection in all things.”
Penny Banks, Hillcrest PI, recently reunited with her father, new resident of her grandmother’s mansion, member of the Terra coven, neophyte vampire, growing in confidence with accomplishing each chapter of “Art and Science of Becoming a Witch”. This time, the Coven is dealing with the Spirit Spell and the confidence it suggests will help every member in their group.
Then yet another mystery looms that could affect everyone, and Penny takes on finding the real killer before it causes a major shift in the life of Cora and her new pack. The outcome of Penny’s investigations could also affect the Terra Coven…and Cora’s impending birth. Can Penny rescue the situation? Will Jack- her father- stay in her new home? And how are things with Max… and Captain Chris?
You’ll just have to read The Case of the Spirit Spell and find out! Highly recommended 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it]
This book will keep you interested from beginning to end!! Penny, Cora, Marley and Annie are once again faced with a challenge. Working together they grow as witches and as friends.
As always a book from this author is a pleasure. Penny and Turkey are hard at work along with the rest of the coven to fix the problems that show up in their town. Possibly losing one of the group is a hard blow, will they be able to fix the problem before it goes too far ?? As in the other books there is a moral to the story and it is a very relevant issue . I really like this series.
I received an ARC from the author and I am voluntarily giving a review. This was a fun, entertaining read! Very well written with whimsical characters. This is a book just about any reader would enjoy. Looking forward to the next book in the series. Enjoy!
Magical and a great murder mystery.
I really liked visiting with Penny and the gang again in this one. I love to see the evolution of the characters as the series progresses, especially Turkey. I’ve always been a cat person, and Turkey makes me giggle. He is truly wonderful! I’m happy to see Penny forging a relationship with her father, and I’m enjoying getting to know him. I’m fascinated by the concept of magical food! That is truly an inspiration! Oh, how I would LOVE to have the ability to make things that are safe for me to eat taste really yummy – I’ve got celiac disease and am intolerant to dairy, eggs, and starches to boot. That doesn’t leave a lot of options! The idea of magical food really speaks to me. I’m also excited to begin getting to know Cora’s babies and what “powers” each one of them possesses. I’m also curious to know what Chris is going to make of magic when he can no longer deny its existence. As always, I’m impressed with Amorette’s ability to share insight about the fears and doubts that we all have. It’s inspiring to watch the growth and change that Penny experiences as she gets to know herself better – there are lessons for us all in her experiences. That alone sets these mystery books apart from so many other cozy mysteries. Yes, they are a fun romp through a magical land, but they are also so much more.
OMG! I so love this series and the author! Once again Penny and Turkey fall in to another investigation. And once again the journey is funny, thought provoking and thoroughly entertaining! Even though it is a series this book, as the others, can stand alone as a entertaining read. But I highly recommend reading from the first one. Watching Penny grow as a being and the author herself growing and building. I am a total fan of both and will once again be watching for the next one!
BTW Spoiler Alert!! The babies have arrived! Whoohoo!
As a ARC reader I received a free copy of this book via the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is book #10 in a great series. I highly recommend this series. I love the witchy coven sisters. It has been fun watching them grow as a coven and as best friends. This series has it all mystety, fun, friends, family, love, magic and now little ones!
Well this was just a weird case. Though why I didn’t see the killer coming, I don’t know. Once you find out who it is, it is quite obvious that’s who it was the whole time. Though I do like stories better when I have now clue who the killer is. Cora has her babies finally!! Spirit Spell is pretty cool. Penny’s dad comes to town and I like the relationship she is having with him. I think Penny and Max should move in together. It would make the better and more interesting to read if he was around more. Anyways another great book in this series.

As always a complete joy to read. I love Penny and her witchy friends, and now with the werewolf pack in the town it makes it more interesting. A surprise ending and a fun mystery to solve. I received this book for free as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Another great book for this series. The imagination that is conjures up to write every book absolutely befuddles me. This book has so many elements in it from witches to werewolves and humans to vampires and everything in between. And the BEST part is that I always get a laugh because of all the humor. Also, if you haven’t read any of the prior books, it’s ok, it can be read as a stand alone and no cliffhangers either!
Penny has really grown and matured over the course of the series and is ready to know more about her father and her past. This is an easy read with a lot of humor and a clever story. And, we learn more about the wolf pack Cora married into as all the members make the move to the Earth Realm.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is book 10 of the series and I’m completely in love with it
The way that Amorette had written these book’s is wonderful.
The characters are brilliant, the 4 main character’s Penny, Annie, Cora and Marley are all studying witchcraft and in each book they have a spell to complete. They all also have familiars, with whom they are able to communicate with, which I think is pretty amazing
Penny who is also a PI, investigates when Art, an elderly gentleman, dies in a car accident. But was it an accident?? If not, who would want to kill him??
This book is a really well written cozy mystery, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes.
I would absolutely recommend this book/series
Congratulations. WAY TO GO!!!! Read book to find out.
Lesson to learn is this book is not to judge people by what you see or hear from others but have all the facts in place first before making a judgement. However that is not the spell. Penny could lose a witch sister because of it. She also has to develop a relationship with her father. All of this and the Murder of Art, the umpire.
This book has Penny feeling like herself to me. If you are following my reviews then you know I was probably feeling off on the last book.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Welcome to new characters: Gia, Sam, and Adam. HB, we share.
Another entertaining and insightful book by Amorette Andereson.
You always learn something while reading these books, which makes them even more enjoyable 🙂
A softball championship on the line turns deadly, and Penny needs to figure out who the real murderer is before things go really badly for Silas and the pack.
These books can all be read as standalone, but honestly.. Start at the beginning and follow along with Penny and her little coven of witches in training. Each book brings a new spell and new adventures into the mix.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review.
Each of these books in this series are delightful to read. Good clean cozy mysteries. I love how Penny and her coven have grown as women and witches. There is a very insightful lesson with each new spell that could help us all in today’s world.
I couldn’t put this book down. There is another murder to solve and several potential suspects. The author leaves us clues to see if we can figure out whodunnit. And again I didn’t have it figured out.
Test your detective skills and see if you can figure out whodunnit.
I’ve read every book Ms. Anderson has written and she continues to amaze me. Her characters are so fun and lovable that I feel like they are my friends.. The storylines in this series are as entertaining as the characters. The only disappointment I felt at the end of end of this book is that I finished it too soon and now I have to wait for the next book in the series to be released!
