What’s your biggest fear? For amateur witch Penny Banks, it’s failure. Business is slow for Penny, the only PI in a small box-canyon town nestled in the mountains of Colorado. When the town mayor offers Penny a case, she can’t turn it down. While Penny struggles to unravel the case, she also has to figure out if she’s really capable of working magic. An ancient book told Penny that it was her … Penny that it was her destiny to become a witch, but if that’s true wouldn’t she be better at it?
It’s a good thing Penny’s knitting circle is willing to lend a hand!
A hunky vampire, a blue-haired rival witch, and a high-maintenance Chihuahua named Blueberry Muffin help (and hinder!) Penny along the way.

Heaps of fun!
Penny continues to be so super endearing! She’s real and not this incredible sort of superwoman who is also incredibly unbelievable and unrelatable. Naïve, yes. Tactless, yes. Blunt, oh yes! But also funny and adorable! I’ve really grown quite fond of her.
And I loooove Turkey, oh no, Thomas I mean. Whoops, sorry Thomas! 😉
A light-hearted cozy. Heaps, and I do mean HEAPS, of fun!
The book is written in first person, present tense, and normally that is not my favorite style, but here it is done in such a way I didn’t even notice at first! Hm, this is a keeper. It’s been a bit hit and miss with the books that I’ve been reading lately, but this one was most definitely a hit!
Small towns aren’t always as cozy as you think. I loved this I’m sure the rest of the series is going to be great, poor Penny seems to just be struggling with well everything. A review copy of this book was sent to me by the author. All of the above opinions are my own, as I voluntarily choose to reveiw.
This was fun to read! Penny is a crazy, impulsive person and I love her! She is absolutely hilarious and I can’t wait to read more of her adventures!
This is the second book in the series even though The Case Of The Love Spell is considered a prequel. I am loving it so much! The character building is fantastic. I’ve never been able to open up to people enough to have friends I’d hang out with, but this series relates to me so well that I feel like I am a true part of something amazing!
Penny has been trying to hold off on paying rent for her Yoga closet and the next customer might be her hope.
The Mayor would like to know why his wife had a one way ticket to Hawaii. What is she holding back?
The coven has been working on the next spell. With Turkey and dog sitting for the new lawyer’s chihuahua, Blueberry Muffin, they have some fun times trying to figure out what is going on with Marrianne and this ticket.
Max has moved near her and this can complicate things with Chris.
Another great read in this series. Penny does her best and it works 90% of the time. The coven is leanring more spells which can be funny all in itself.
Characters are great and the mysteries are good.
I throughly enjoyed this book and this series- Amorette gives her readers some good advice that we all can incoperate into our lives to be better people besides enjoying the adventures of Penny and her knitting circle of friends. Check it out and you’ll be happy you did!
Quick, enjoyable read about new coven of witches to be. Add a little romance, a murder and some fun characters. Eventhough Penny the PI has been doing this for 5 years, she still struggled like a rookie while working this case. I was given a free ARC by the author. My review is freely and honestly given
A witch needs to have Patience, Precision, and be Playful
Penny is having a hard time with Patience, she has Playfulness down well and they practice every week at their book club, coven meeting. he practice should help with their precision. She is still struggling with self-esteem too. This book has humor. The characters are well developed and growing stronger. Penny uses her intuition differently than her client the mayor expected as she works the case that he has assigned her. In the end, she and her coven pass the first phase of becoming a witch. Penny turns out to be brave. She takes on a side job. Penny also has some new neighbors. Her life is crazy but she remains calm and level headed.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review. This was another great book. In this one, Penny’s PI business is still slow, but she does get a case. She is still trying to become a with, along with the rest of her knitting group. She struggles with a vampire, a blue-haired witch who is trying to steal the book from her, trying to pay the rent on her closet-sized office and keeping the guy she thinks is her perfect boyfriend. This was another great quick and fun read! I love this series and can’t wait for the next one!
Received a free copy for a review. Cute and entertaining story. There are moments I had to laugh out loud. I have read other stories in this series and have found them all interesting and entertaining.
Penny is hired to follow Cliff’s wife. She bought one one-way ticket to Hawaii for August 15th and has been acting strange since then. Penny learns Joe who worked for Cliff died the day before. She learns Azure, leader of Air oven, is now her neighbor in unit B. Penny gets side tracked on Joe’s death and starts investigating it instead of figuring out what Melanie is doing. I received the book as an ARC and that you’re leaving an honest and voluntary review.
Overall The Case of the Power Spell is a good, light hearted book. It started a little slowly for me and I took a while to get into the story but once I did it was enjoyable and laugh out loud funny in places. The knitting circle members are great characters and Turkey and Muffin are simply wonderful. Add a murder, a dash of magic, a hunky policeman and a vampire to the mix and things get interesting.
I received an advanced copy of this book and this is my honest and voluntary review.
Penny is still trying to prove herself as a PI and finds business pretty slow. She is shocked and happily surprised when the mayor decides to hire her to find out what is causing his wife to be in despair. While Penny hunts down a few clues, she discovers a recent death that may not have been an accident but murder. When she’s not being a PI and solving a new murder case, Penny is a witch in training along with her knitting group. When they mix up their new spell, they must discover what gives them their power as a witch.
This book is filled with lots of madcap adventure, quirky characters, and tons of twists and turns. You can’t go wrong with a familiar cat named Turkey, a high-maintenance Chihuahua called Blueberry Muffin, a vampire that is both hunky and mysterious, and of course the rival blue-haired witch that just moved into the same apartment complex.
This is the start of a very entertaining new cozy mystery series!
