What a wonderful read! Great ending to a fabulous series. Penny Banks, with the help of her familiar cat Turkey and fellow coven/knitting club members solve another murder mystery and make Earth a place open to magic. Only one spell remains to be completed and make Penny and her coven full witches. The Happiness spell helps Penny solve the mystery of how one of the drama club’s actresses was murdered. I received an ARC of this book and I’m leaving a voluntary review.
” The Case of the Happiness Spell: Hillcrest Witch Cozy Mystery Book 13)” by Amorette Anderson is a tale of one Penny Banks Shire…and her extremely talented familiar Thomas Edison Fulbright aka Turkey ( Calico Feline)… and Penny’s Terra Coven sisters and their respective familiars…Marley/Skili ( White Owl) ….Cora/Blueberry Muffin (Chihuahua) ….Annie/Ralph(Lynx)…and of course Azure/Abra (Mouse). Penny and her Terra Coven sisters throughout the series have studied the magical spells of Penny’s *Art and Science to Becoming a Witch*….and in this final installment of the series …the 13th chapter …”The Happiness Spell” is mastered…and The Terra Coven…of The Earth Realm…of Hillcrest, Colorado …become…full-fledged Witches and guardians of the Earth Realm portal. In addition to this achievement …Penny, herself continues her growth as Hillcrest’s PI…by delving into the theatrics of the Hillcrest Player’s dramatic reinterpretation of “Romeo & Juliet”….both onstage and behind the scenes…as mystery and murder set the Hillcrest Players on edge. The entire series …and the tiny hamlet of Hillcrest itself …and the development of all the wonderful & charming characters within…has been a magical journey I was very privileged to share. A SOLID 10 Winner!!!! Read and See! Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book.
Case of the Happiness Spell is the 13th and final book in the Hillcrest Witch Cozy Mystery series. And it’s a great finale!
The coven is set to cast the last spell in their book, the Art and Science of Becoming a Witch. At the same time, Penny gets involved in another case as a P.I., going undercover in the current Community Theater play. Chaos ensues!
Throughout the series, Penny has grown enormously as a person and as a witch, in each book learning a different life lesson. The takeaway from this one is that happiness comes from within, regardless of the chaos and stress of reality.
It has been an extremely enjoyable series to read, with the characters becoming like friends. I’d love a familiar like Turkey!
Definitely recommend this!
This is the final book in the spell learning process for Penny and the ladies. And what would a spell learning process be without a mystery to solve along with it! I absolutely loved this book, I read it in one day as I couldn’t put it down. Amorette Anderson is an amazing author, and each book she writes gets better and better! I can not wait to read more from this outstanding author.
I have loved these books and am so sad that this is the final one. The characters grabbed my attention and made me want to meet them in person. The relationships between the “coven” , familiars and townspeople was a heartwarming and refreshing read. These are the charmingly simple stories that you want to return to over and over to recapture that warm happy feeling. I highly recommend them all.
I always enjoy visiting our friends in Hillcrest. There is always something interesting happening. Penny and her familiar are a great team when it comes to solving crimes. This time is no exception. With the help of the coven the clues add up and soon everything becomes clear and Penny solves the case. She even tries to help her ex find romance in the mix. I am so glad I have all the book I this series and look forward to more adventures from our friends in Hillcrest. Read the last in the spell series you will be glad you did.
Another wonderful book by Author Amorette Anderson.
Penny and all the other characters are all so wonderful.
Loved reading this series….

Title:
A possible route to the future:
After getting done with this e-book and seeing the knitting circle finish The Art and Science of Becoming a Witch {ASBW}, it feels like an ending to the series. But we also see a possible start of a new series focusing on Marley, Skili, and a speciality retreat center. Possibly teaching the skills learned by the knitting circle. In any event, I ll be waiting to find out.
Penelope got an unique case: twin perps, and one of them hired her. This usually seems like a good idea, but rarely works for the customer. The one doing the hiring has to find the so~so PI to have any chance of this working. Penelope definitely is not that.
We get introduced to a very interesting individual: who rarely earns their reputation as one of the‘Drama s’ {Queen or King.} Having the elusive magnetic personality that draws in those who can be influenced by those who are strong in this trait.
We also learned that the way to handle inter Realm politics is to treat the Representative of the deciding vote honestly. Point out the flaws as well as some of the good things about your Realm. Ask for guidance, while you re learning how to be as mature the other Realms are. Basically, show them that while this Realm does have a tendency to be restrictive, there re those who grow up independent of that concept.
We just have to get off the usual well trodden path and open our minds and hearts to other possibilities. In other words: try to learn the ASBW for ourselves! The best part is that you don t have to be any certain age. Young, old, even somewhere in the middle, everyone can learn. All it takes is the initiative to start. Having a few friends along just makes it easier -as long as you remember to progress at the speed of the slowest person in the group- who knows , that person might be able to see a hidden part of the plan/route and can guide the rest to the next lesson.
I m happy to say that I figured one of the two, but you ve got to buy this book, and the others-whether in the box sets or not- to start learning the future way(s) of life could be.
Live life,
John Shrek Walters
Wow! This mystery combined with the final spell the girls are learning proves quite intriguing. I love how Penny and Turkey work together so well. I loved the speech Penny gave onstage. I love the direction Marley took with the mine! This has been one of my favorite series and I have LOVED each book!
Join Penny, Cora, Annie, Azure, and Marley as they complete the last spell in their adventure of becoming official witches. Penny is hired by the local theater director to find the person who is trying to kill him. The murderer makes a mistake and kills the wrong person, making it more difficult for Penny, the case she thought would be easy to figure out has now become more complicated. Cora’s babies are growing up and creating some mayhem of their own. Marley has decided what she is going to do with the old mine and has plenty of help with accomplishing her dream. A visitor from the Air Realm must decide whether to quarantine the Earth Realm for 500 years, and the only way to do that is to visit Earth and see how receptive humans are to magic. A very good book, I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who the murderer was, and I laughed when the babies were creating their own magic. I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest and unbiased review.
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
Well Amorette Anderson you have finished this series off with an absolutely outstanding book.
It kept me guessing who the murderer was as there are plenty of twists that led to different people, plenty of red herrings, which is great, especially for Turkey sorry just a little joke for those in the know about the book’s
I love the fact that the book isn’t just about the murder mystery but about the friendship between the coven and how strong it has become throughout the series
Also how Penny can multi task, because she has now joined the Players, who are the actor’s who put plays on at the local Community Theatre, at first it’s undercover for a job she’s been hired for but she enjoys herself so much that she decides that she is going to stay a member
This series of book’s is without doubt one of the best I’ve read and would definitely recommend. They have everything you can possibly want if you enjoy PNR , murder mystery , romance , familiars and so much more
A magical community
This was another great book in the series. The story is interesting and flows well. The characters are relatable. They show growth and each is unique. The book had a case to solve and it correlated to the lesson in their book on becoming a witch. I think Turkey is the best. This could be read as a standalone but is more interesting if you read the whole series. Each person has changed so much since book 1. I hope that there will be more stories about the Earth Coven. They are such a likable group. They do things in their own style. They are supportive. They are creative and caring. I feel like they are a part of my life and I will miss the time that I have spent in their world.
Penny’s journey to becoming a full fledged witch reaches its conclusion with this book and it ends on a high note as Penny solves a crime at the Hillcrest Players theater groups opening night performance and in which she gives a stirring speech that she couldn’t have given a year ago. Receiving a book entitled ASBW changed her life and the lives of her knitting circle friends.
Penny’s growth has been phenomenal as she and her witchy sisters have embraced all thirteen chapters in learning how to become a witch with the final chapter being this book I just finished.
Amorette has done a tremendous job in showing the maturity that Penny has made from the girl who was scared of her shadow to a strong, confident young woman who can take on whatever challenges may come her way.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book as well as the previous books to young adult and adult readers of all ages. You will gain insightful nuggets of wisdom that will help you come out on top if you will follow that sage advice.
Bravo Amorette for a job well done! I salute you!
If you haven’t yet started this series I would suggest starting at the beginning of this series so you can see the transformation right from the start!
The Happiness Spell is the final spell in the book to becoming a witch.
Penny and the gals in her coven are getting ready to take the final step to becoming witches.
So much time management is required for Penny to solve the mystery of who is behind the donkey attack (you need to read the book to hear the story of the donkey lol), save Earth realm from quarantine, be a part of the play and cast the Happiness Spell. Penny really had her work cut out for her in this book, and she really stepped up her game.
I’ve read every book in this series, and hope there is a follow up to it. Fantastic, fun reading.
Penny and her coven are on the last spell before becoming fully fledged witches. As is always the case, Penny has a case to solve at the same time. Firstly there is an attack at the local amateur theatre and Penny is hired by the guy in charge to find out who attacked him. Penny decides to go undercover as one of the actors in the show, but before the first rehearsal begins one of the actors is murdered backstage. While all this is going on there are possible problems with relations to the other magical realms. This is the last book in the series and I am so sad to see it finished, but I have enjoyed each and every book and all the characters.
As always, amazing! I can’t believe that this is the last book in the series. I’m beyond sad! Amorette, please write more about these fantastic ladies/witches! We must have more! Now it’s time for the coven to put all that they’ve learned to work!
