“Banks’s debut marks the start of a promising urban fantasy series, something like Ghostbusters with a British accent.” – Publisher’s WeeklyKester Lanner didn’t know what to expect when he followed his mother’s dying request to contact the mysterious Dr. Ribero, but he wasn’t expecting to find his long lost father. Nor was he expecting to join the family business: catching supernatural spirits.… spirits.
Kester is intrigued despite his fear, and finds himself drawn into an ancient ghost story that will test the entire agency. He soon becomes enmeshed in a struggle with the spirit, who is so malevolent and haunting that his first real case might just be his last.

Lots of fun and absolutely not what you’d expect – the characters are engaging and the parallel world of spirit-handling agencies competing for jobs adds a very human element
The Case of the Green-dressed Ghost relates the story of a boring man without much to recommend him until he discovers not only that his recently deceased mother had a hidden mystical past, but that he has inherited her talent for spiritualism. Then despite his reluctance, his life twists into all sorts of catastrophic fun.
At first I wasn’t sure I was going to enjoy this book, but as I got farther into it I couldn’t put it down. Well written characters and a good story line. Will read the next one when it comes out.
Green-Dressed Ghost was a delightful read. It didn’t take itself seriously, the ghost story was interesting enough and provided structure for the development of the characters. A very quick read. Fingers crossed there will be a follow-up.
I liked this book. At the beginning I was a little confused, probably because it is set in England. It felt like it was a Victorian era setting, then all of a sudden we are talking about websites and computers.
I really enjoyed the story-line but thought it was a little slow at first, but it picked up rather nicely.
The characters were interesting, but not very likable. I especially didn’t like the main character, Kester. It is just me but I dislike whiny, complaining characters in a book. But he did come around toward the very end.
I may read the next installment, not sure yet.
Good read. Entertaining story. Interesting characters.
Ghosties and goblins – who’d a thunk they could be made believable in the 21st century? Nice entertaining read from an author who manages suspension of disbelief very nicely. I’ll have another helping please.
Fun read
Cute story. Nice easy read, enjoyable.
An amateurish effort.
Not even half way through and I’m thoroughly hooked. Fun, interesting premise for a little supernatural mystery. Characters are developed in stages through the story. Haven’t checked but hoping there will be a series. Definitely recommend. Enjoy.
Started out feeling a bit badly for our main character. Once he found the person his mother’s note directed him to, the story picked up and pulled me into the story. I was hoping for a second book to continue his story.
Not my normal read. Was kind of a hoot!
An enjoyable book that was easy to read.
Enjoyed reading this and hope to see more of the series.
Cute and entertaining
Very enjoyable read
I liked the descriptions of the buildings and the areas itself, but the character building was a bit slow for me. There was some degree of tension from unknown (to the main character) factors that the main guy had to work through, but
By the end of the book, I still don’t know much about any of the characters involved; their family histories and individual lives. This is the first book in a series so I hope this character building will be taken care of eventually.
Very entertaining. It wasn’t real scary, the reactions of the people in the book made you feel their feelings of being scared. It was a good detective book. It was weird in the sense that it felt like it was a book set in the Victorian age, not modern times. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would read the next one.
Think bilbo baggins type human turned ghost buster against his better judgement. Toss in a motley crew of coworkers and the classic Brit humor – its a winner.
