Penny is facing some powerful problems, there is a murder, her precious book is stolden, she doubts Max, and she needs to conquer the fire spell. You see Penny is a P.I., a vampire, a witch in training and she is in love with Max. She does have help along the way, her familiar, a cat named Turkey, and of course her fellow coven/knitting group members. Can she solve all these problems or will her training stop here?
This cozy mystery is filled with great characters, a complex mystery and romance. Amazing chapters are at the heart of this story. The storyline is expertly woven with romance, mystery and magic and filled with surprising twists and unexpected turns that have you glued to the end. I enjoyed this new addition to the series and can not wait until the next one. If you love witchy cozy mysteries you will love this series.
I received this book for free and have voluntarily left a honest review.
Filled with quirky characters, light paranormal situations (no horror stuff) and a good storyline, this series just keeps getting better and better. Penny is stretching and deepening her powers as a witch, learning to be a health-conscious vampire (magic food, oh I want this!), and as a P.I., she and her cat familiar, Turkey, are stretching their abilities by leading the investigation of the latest case.
Even though this is a lighthearted, fast-reading series, we learn something about ourselves with each book. Amorette has woven insightful lessons on human nature into each story, and here she shows how we all have deep-seated fears. Each book can stand alone, but is best read in order. Highly recommended!
I received an ARC from the author, and I liked it so much I also bought a copy!
The Book was great. Penny investigates murder, theft and arson in an effort to learn the fire spell and save the day. With the help of her familiar Turkey and her friends Penny wins the day.
When a spirit realm visitor is murdered, it’s up to witch PI Penny Banks and her knitting circle coven to find the murderer. Each book in this series just keeps getting better! I can’t wait for the next book! I recieved an ARC copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.
I love all of Amorettes books. This book really had my emotions going. I was worried for Penny for most of the book but thank goodness there was a happy ending.
Case of the Fire Spell by Amorette Anderson like the rest of the series is funny and laugh out loud good! The characters including the diversified familiars are quirky and loveable. Their relationships are the best parts. The perfect fun, relaxing, no stress read. BTW, Turkey now has his own office and computer.
Penny Banks and her coven of friends are starting the Eleventh Cycle in their training as witches. The Fire Spell could be the most dangerous yet. But it’s going to be hard for Penny to get enough control of her emotions so she doesn’t burn herself up. But there is just too many things happening all at once.
Max has invited Vladmira Bloodlust for a visit. She’s so freaking gorgeous Penny’s jealousy is flaring up.
A body is found with a wooden stake through the heart; a warning to Penny?
The ASBW book has been stolen
An out of town coven is coming to visit.
Not the opportune time to learn a spell that could consume you — not when there is jealousy, murder, theft and strangers to deal with.
This series is best read in order be a part of the growth in Penny and her friends. I did receive an advance copy of this five star story from the author and this is my honest review of this fun witchy cozy mystery.
I absolutely love this series. Penny and her familiar Turkey are so awesome.
This one is my favorite so far. So much action for Penny and her friends and their familiars…Loved this book…
This book gets very intense! This spell helps Penny get over some of her deepest fears as she searches for the murderer and a thief. This whole journey is such a fascinating one! I really love Turkey and often wish I could communicate the same way with my cat. I am really looking forward to the next book!
I had a review written but it disappeared. Maybe it was Penny and her coven that made it disappeared. The author really does a good job of weaving a great story. Penny has alot on her plate. She is worried about her and Max. She started doubting him when a gorgeous vampire tutor came to town. Then there is a murder, plus some thefts, plus visiting witches from the Midwest, and plus a new spell to learn. You know the saying ‘ play with fire and you could get burned’. Boy does that have Penny worried.
I love how the author tells the story. It flows so smoothly. I highly recommend this book.
Once again Amorette has given us a awesome magical mystery! Each book in this series is better and more intriguing! Penny and her coven are growing as Penny grows in her life and perspective. A truly entertaining way to get away from the world and join a magical world. I received an ARC copy of this book for a fair and honest review but it is such a pleasure to read this series it is easy to put my own thoughts and feelings out. I truly enjoy this series and watching the author grow also. Can’t wait for the next one!!

Title:
To burn or not to burn. . . .
Nice to know that while Turkey has a carpeted cat castle, he bought a crown so that he can be king of all that he surveys!
Ahhh, Penelope, you need to work on your thoughts. You can t go with random thoughts about what your heart knows is right for you. Get your mind back on the case in hand.
This seems to be the book of false steps betwixt Max and Penelope. I don t recall ever hearing of the marital interest never defended his lady. For a being who s said to be 500 + years old, Max seems to have forgotten how to clarify misperceptions of strangers regarding his lady.
Of course, I chose the wrong suspect. You ll have to get this book to see if you can figure out where I slipped and went down the wrong rabbit hole. Still well worth the read!
After the usual suspects, the extra curveball red herrings, and the exceptional guidance of Turkey ~~ alls well that ends well. On the plus side, we now know that there re other Covens in the Terra Realm!
There s still some unoccupied places around town, should anyone be interested in moving to a magical place.
Live life,
John Shrek Walters
This series just keeps getting better and better. The next spell that Penny and her coven are studying is the Fire Spell. This is not what it seems – as in it isn’t about starting fires, but rather controlling the fire within. A visitor from the Spirit Realm is found murdered; a sexy vampire tutor arrives to give lessons to Justin; Penny’s witch instruction book is stolen; visitors from another coven come to town; and Max (Penny’s boyfriend) suddenly disappears without warning. Someone she knows is responsible for what is going on, but she doesn’t know who. All she knows is that it was someone outside her coven. With their help, she must find the murderer, and get her book back; regardless of who it may turn out to be.
A guest from the spirit realm is killed by a wooden stake. Penny fears that the stake is a warning for her. When her copy of the ASBW is stolen, Penny is left with another mystery to solve. In addition, Penny becomes insecure about her relationship with Max. Many problems to solve – can Penny and Turkey resolve everything?
I really enjoy this series and highly recommend that you start with the first book in the series.
Penny and the others have their work cut out for them. A visitor from another realm is murdered. Their is a message for Penny in it? A tutor arrives to help Justin pass his vampire exam. What is her agenda (obvious she has one from arrival)? Another coven sends two witches to visit. During all this their book is stolen. Azure is hiding something, what is it?
Is that enough to figure out and learn the Fire Spell too? Is Penny starting to grow up a little?
Azure, I feel you, been there and no fun. Hope you can do it in the next book.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
Penny Banks had a lot to figure out in this 11th Hillcrest Mystery book. Of course there’s a murder to solve again but you’re never bored with finding out ” who done it” because they’re always so different. Max disappears. Penny’s book of spells disappears and three suspicious witches come in town. This book is full of surprises, the best yet, so I won’t tell you everything. Suffice it to say you’ll love this book. It’s a page turner you can’t put down. Enjoy!
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
Once again Amorette Anderson has blown me away with another amazing book
I’m absolutely loving this series, and dreading when it comes to an end.
This book had my emotions all over the place, and I couldn’t put it down until I’d finished every last word. Because I needed to know who the culprit was, I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep without knowing.
Definitely a book/series I’d recommend, for those that like a supernatural cosy mystery
Another fantastic book by Amorette Anderson. A strange murder of a visitor from the spirit realm along with thievery make for an interesting read. As usual a very happy ending, the murder solved, and Penny learning more about herself and building confidence. I enjoy reading this series and can’t wait for the next one. I received this book as an ARC from book funnel and this is my honest opinion.
Penny really needs to put her PI skills to the test in this book. She also has to help get over some very big fears. This is another learning curve for Penny in the personal department. I think she is getting better and better with her PI job. There is major happiness in this book but Penny must overcome some fears and sadness first. If you have loved the other books in this series you will love this book too.
*I received a free copy of this book via author and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Another wonderful book by this author. I love the whole series and anyone who likes witchy mysteries will, too!
A magical being is murdered and thus a new case is thrust upon Penny to find out who done it! This time, however, all magical beings are going to have to be scrutinized to see if they can be eliminated. This includes her sexy boyfriend! The arrival of two witches from another coven also must be looked into as well as the sexy vampire tutor who seems to only have eyes for her boyfriend! Add to that her witchy book is stolen so she has to find out if the two cases are connected in any way.
There are some unexpected occurrences in this one that affect Penny personally as she tries to get to the bottom of this case in finding out who the culprit or culprits are.
I loved this story! I could feel Penny’s emotions as she struggles to solve these two cases!
I encourage one and all to get this book! It’s the best one so far and the series is winding down as only two more books remain to see if Penny and her witchy sisters can become full blooded witches!
