This book was really good! It had everything in it drama, action, fun and a good mystery! When a man is killed in a park with a stake through the heart with a special sigil on the stake it’s a warning to Penny! Then Penny’s most valuable book is stolen! Next we have two out of town witches visiting! Add to that a sexy, alluring vampire who is not only there to teach Justin but to steal Max from Penny.
Penny clearly has a lot going on in this book! She becomes paranoid, jealous and many more mixed feeling! In the end everything works out! I definitely didn’t see this ending coming! I loved this boo, series and author.
Impossible to put down; this book filled me with intense joy!
This is my new favorite installment in this series. Wow wow wow!!! Well, to be honest, every installment in this series seems to be my new favorite at the time; these books are just THAT good!
When Vladmira, a vampire tutor hired to help Justin become a vampire, enters the Earth realm, immediately jealousy rears its ugly head. Penny gets very insecure about herself, and about Max’s feelings for her. And then there’s this feeling that something bad is going to happen… something that will test Penny once again.
It was sooo good! Penny is so endearing with her bluntness, although to be fair, she does try to be tactful, at least sometimes, LOL. But any tact she might have learned during these 11 cycles of becoming a witch goes out the window when she talks to Vladmira. Typical Penny! I love her to bits. And Turkey is a little star! As always, the fabulous Turkey is the head honcho, and Penny is his helper 😉 And I love Abra! Who is Abra, you say? Well, I’m not going to spoil that! Just read it for yourself! And I loved the magic in this book. LOVED! If you like paranormal cozies, then this is a definite must read!
Once again another great book. The ARC for this book is is absolutely wonderful. I recommend it.
This book started out with a bang and just kept on getting better and better. There were several twists, turns, and misdirection of characters and clues! Part of the passion, fearlessness, courage and willpower used to solve this case came from the fire spell that Penny had memorized without knowing. The murder of a Spirit Realm denizen and the stealing of the ASWB book squarely put this tale on a collision path with magical citizens of the Earth Realm. Terrific plot. I felt like I was in Hillcrest! 🙂
Red Robin
Once again, Amorette has given us an extraordinary journey with our favorite witch! This book was a little different from her prior works in this series, but I loved it! Expect the unexpected and the ramblings of the famous genius cat, Turkey, and you will have such an enjoyable time while reading this book. I love the antics of Penny and her quirkiness which makes this book even better. A must read for sure!
This book is filled with humor. It has great characters and they grow during the book. Each person has a distinct personality. This story was intense and interesting. It had a lot of twists and turns. Turkey is a very interesting cat. He has his own office and Penny swipes whatever she needs from it. The ladies make some new friends and become closer to some others. Each book in the series contains a new spell that adds a new area of personal growth and empowerment for the knitting circle (Coven). It looks like the knitting circle is growing. I recommend this book.
I have read this whole series and I can’t believe I still get surprised at how the characters keep growing and the story itself keeps getting richer. This one was a real tear-jerker – for more than one reason – no spoilers! Penny, the series’ main character, grows so much in each book. I swear the spells have to be real! I can’t wait for the next book.
This is an incredible serie that leaves a taste of “wanting for more of it”. At each book, Amorette surprises us with the way she brings to surface feelings that strike us, being Penny the one that brings it. One more great travel through Penny’s learning how to be a witch.
Another delightful stepping stone in Pennys progression. Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone. But if you start at the beginning with each spell each book you can see Penny become a little more mature and a little more confident in herself and in her love with Max As usual Amorette pulls you in and then throws a twist in for an ending. Think you know who did it? Maybe. But odds are you dont. Add this to your collection and see if you can figure out who is the murderer and who is the thief. But no cheating and sneaking a peek.
The journey to becoming a witch for Penny Banks and her knitting circle continues. Vladmira Bloodlust a famous vampire is hired by Penny’s boyfriend Max to tutor Justin who is studying how to be a vampire and Penny becomes extremely jealous. Buster a friend of Fred’s from the spirit world is found dead with a wooden stake in his heart and Penny needs to find the murderer. Is it Vladmira, Max, Azure or the two visiting witches from a neighboring coven. The scene with Abracadabra, Azure ,Penny and Turkey is one of her best. Very highly recommended. While this is a stand alone cozy For best enjoyment I recommend you start with book one The Case of the Power Spell first.
Penny continues to mature in each book but that doesn’t stop her from having relationship doubts. Thankfully there’s a spell cycle for that. As she and her coven move through the “how to be” book, they are challenged to look more deeply inside themselves which brings more clarity to how they see the world. They are also integral to the investigation of a magical murder that can’t be brought to the police.
I received an advanced copy and am leaving an honest review.
LOVE THIS WITCH SERIES
My favourite witch Penny is in a pickle, both romantically and personally. Throw in a magical murder and a cat with a magnifying spy glass and the plot thickens.
Cannot recommend this series enough.
i really enjoyed the twists and turns of this book. I have to admit that I snuck to the ending chapter once or twice then went back to reading where I left off. I was still surprised how it all turn out. I was especially pleased when Penny showed jealous signs when the other vampire lady showed up with her sights on Penny’s boyfriend Max.
I do recommend this book and the whole series. Only 2 more books left in the series, though I hope there will be more. as Penny and her witch sisters advance in their witchy training.
Beyond fantastic! These books keep getting better and better! With every spell I feel like I’m looking at new ways to see the world too. Like I’m growing along with Penny, Marley, Annie and Cora. I really love looking at the world like a witch!
As to the murder and theft of the ASBW, well there is a short, but intense list of suspects. A beautiful (on the outside) vampire comes to help train Justin for his Koan Challenge. Boy, Penny is jealous, but with good reason. I even wanted to get that vamp out of there! But was she the killer and thief? How about the two out of town witches that came to visit? Or even Max???
The Fire Spell helped Penny put things into perspective and figure out who the villain was in this installment. And it helped her learn trust and to stop doubting herself and her feelings. And I’m going to take the lesson to heart too and realize that if I put out negative thoughts, well that is what I’m going to get back. It’s time to trust that good out gets good back. Goddess I love these books!
Another wonderful visit with Penny and the gang. This one is a little more “woo woo” than the others. LOL! Their spell books get stolen (again!) and they need to complete their fire spell. Will they be able to do it without their books? You’ll have to read to find out but, I promise, you won’t get burned!
I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Things are heating up in Hillcrest. There is another murder, theft, and Spell 11 “The Fire Spell” to conquer. There are a few new visitors to Hillcrest that makes finding the murderer more complicated for Penny the PI. One of the visitors has Penny so jealous that it almost consumes her, making her question her relationship with Max. Things are not what they seem. I liked Abra and hope to read more about her in the coming books. I can’t get enough of this series. The books can be read as stand alones, but I recommend reading each one, not because you can’t follow the storyline, but because they are so worth reading. Amorette Anderson I don’t know where or how you come up with all of these ideas, but keep up the good work. I will be anxiously waiting on Book 12. I did receive an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I have enjoyed each one of these books and hope to enjoy many more. There is always a “moral” so to speak in each spell. Each witch finds the spells deeply personal and relevant to their lives. Of course this is in addition to their everyday lives and loves. Penny and Turkey are working hard to learn the spells and lessons while at the same time solving mysteries and combating the green eyed monster (yes, Penny is having doubts about Max). A new character (nope, no spoilers) has entered the stories and I just loved the mental images that accompanied her. She may be tiny but has a big zest for life. lol I highly recommend these books and hope they become wildly popular.
” The Case of the Fire Spell: A Hillcrest Witch Mystery Hillcrest Witch Cozy Mystery” by Amorette Anderson is a tale of Penny Banks… her faithful & brilliant familiar Turkey …her Terra Coven sisters Annie..Cora…and Marley….and their familiars. In this installment…Max Shire..Penny’s boyfriend has invited another Vampire to Hillcrest ..Vladmira to help tutor one of his students …and Annie has also invited two Midwestern Witches to Hillcrest for a visit. Naturally with visitors in town while Penny and her Coven sisters are embarking upon mastering a new spell from thier ASBW…means new challenges …and when a magical murder occurs …well…things really begin to heat up. Penny and Turkey have their combined hands and paws busy as the suspect list grows longer …suspicions mount and anxiety grows. This is undoubtably the best installment yet…as the Terra Coven and Penny herself gain new confidence in their skills and new alliances are gained. Much enjoyed and Highly Recommended. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Copy of this book.
Dr. Maxwell Shire, Penny Banks vampire boyfriend, asks Penny’s permission to allow entrance to the Earth Realm for Vladmira Bloodlust. When Penny admits Vladmira, she is immediately sorry. Vladmira is beautiful, sexy, well dressed and everything Penny feels she is not. Vladmira is in the Earth Realm to tutor Justin, Marley’s boyfriend, so he can pass his Vampire Koan Challenge. Penny thinks Vladmira’s only reason in the Earth Realm is to steal Max from her.he
The Terra Coven, Penny’s witch-in-training sisters, have a lot to deal with. They are studying the Fire Spell; welcoming two members of the Heartland Coven, Kendall and Donna; the theft of Penny’s original of her ASBW, Art & Science of Becoming a Witch from the safe in the basement of her mansion and the three copies that Annie, Cora and Marley had in their possession used at their weekly meetings; and the death of Annie’s boyfriend, Fred’s friend, Buster, visiting from the Spirit Realm. Buster was killed by a stake through his chest. The stake contained a Sigil, a magical symbol. Max feels it is a warning to Penny. Penny has had a feeling for the past few days that something bad is going to happen.
There are several suspects for Buster’s murder and Penny and her witch sisters are trying to solve the murder as quickly as possible.
This is absolutely the best book in the series to date by Amorette Anderson. It is well written and funny. A must read!
I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
When a member from the Fire Realm turns up dead Penny wonders if that is a message for her instead. She and her Terra Coven friends get busy trying to solve another murder. This was a very good book and it was a little different from some of the others. Great read.
