Can’t Heather go anywhere without being caught up in a murder investigation? After enduring an unexpected test to her sleuthing skills in Edinburgh, American Heather Munro looks forward to attending a restful family wedding in County Cork, Ireland. But delight turns to dilemma when the bride’s ex-fiancé shows up pleading for a second chance…then dies under mysterious circumstances.Heather’s travel … circumstances.
Heather’s travel itinerary didn’t include snooping through family secrets or being caught up in international politics, but she can’t stand by when a rush to judgment points the blame at an innocent man and derails the upcoming nuptials. An outsider in the stunning harbor town of Cobh, Heather’s determined search for answers is thwarted at every turn. But Heather has never been one to give up, and she’ll do all she can to get the wedding back on track and the murderer behind bars before he or she strikes again. Even at the risk of her own life.
Inspired by the famous Girl Detective, the members of the Olentangy Heights Girls’ Detective Society, affectionately known as the Nosy Parkers, spent their formative years studying criminology, codes, and capers. Opportunities to practice their unique skills were thin in their little corner of post-war suburbia, so they eventually grew up to pursue more sensible careers. Yet mysteries seem to follow them wherever they go.

The Case of the Beleaguered Bride, which is part of the Nosy Parkers Mystery series by Debra Marvin, stars nosy amateur sleuth Heather Munro as she travels to Ireland for the wedding of two of her friends. When the wedding is cancelled by the appearance and then death of the bride-to-be’s ex-fiance, Heather feels drawn to try to solve the mystery. I loved visiting Ireland vicariously through this book and feeling the atmosphere, language, and vibes from that area. It was also fun to read about Heather’s newest adventure in sleuthing and to catch up with some of her friends from the first book in the series. Heather’s friend Tom is a favorite of mine, and he’s such a great character. I did get a little confused with all the new characters in the book, so it was nice to have a few I was familiar with.
Lots of twists and turns kept me guessing as to the outcome of the mystery and kept me turning pages. I’m looking forward to more adventures from this author and also seeing the outcome of the relationship between Heather and Tom.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions are my own.
What a great historical cozy! I had a blast reading it.
I loved the setting. It was almost like I was actually there in County Cork Ireland. The descriptions were so vivid and painted such a lovely picture in my mind.
The mystery was a good one. There were twists and turns and plenty of suspects, all of whom, at one time or another, I guessed was the guilty party.
This fast-paced read is sure to delight cozy mystery and historical fans alike.
I received a copy of this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and comments are my honest opinion.
In THE CASE OF THE BELEAGUERED BRIDE, Debra Marvin has taken Heather Munro, featured in a previous book, from Scotland to Cobh, Ireland to attend the wedding of friends Dan and Kath. But as circumstances would have it, a dead body throws everything awry. Heather once again puts on her sleuth hat, but has trouble sorting all the suspects and what facts she can glean.
I love the girl detective flavor of this book and the descriptions of quaint, colorful Cobh shows that Ms. Marvin took a great research trip there. These characters really grow on you.
I have enjoyed this Nosy Parker series and look forward to much more. My kind of cozy!

The Case of the Beleaguered Bride the third book in the Nosy Parkers Mysteries by Debra E Martin is an enjoyable fun cozy mystery I couldn’t put down. It is a mixture of family, faith, friends with an intriguing mystery of murder wrapped around the past and politics of County Cork Ireland. It is the perfect setting for a cozy mystery and a great puzzle to figure out. I give it 5 stars.
Heather Munro has gone to County Cork for the wedding of friends Kat and Dan but with the murder of her Kath’s ex-boyfriend things begin to fall apart at the seams. Heather is once again caught in the middle trying to help her friend figure out who is behind the murder and get things back on track but family secrets, politics and intrigue is making it unusually hard. Can Heather put all the pieces together before the threats she is getting puts her in danger too?
I love how this book sort of reminds me of classic mysteries. It has a kind, intelligent, nosy and relatable main character in Heather. She reminds me of a grown up Nancy Drew. She has a good mind and a kind heart which adds to the story. There is one person that from the start I knew she was not to be trusted and that was Trish. I didn’t like her flippant flirty way and just knew she was trouble but she was full of surprises.
This book keeps you guessing from the start to the surprising end. It is written with great description of Cork and the surroundings where you can just picture journeying through it with Heather as she snoops around. I highly recommend this book. If you were a fan of Nancy Drew or Agatha Christie you will like this book. I highly recommend it.
I liked that this book by Debra Marvin was set in Ireland! The female protagonist, Heather, was rather nosy when her friends’ wedding is cancelled! Heather is a modern day Trixie Belden who likes to solve mysteries. In spite of quite a bit of action, the story seemed to move slowly. It was difficult to keep the characters straight but this may have been because I have not read book one in the series. If you are a cozy mystery fan, you will probably enjoy The Case of the Beleaguered Bride. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
