Penny is getting stronger every day in her sleuthing power, witching power, and now she has to concentrate on being a vampire. First things first though, she’s managed to secure a consultant job with the police department on the latest murder mystery. What a coup! She’s even learned how to do a few different spells. I won’t tell you what they are, you need to read the book! Keep up with Penny as she grows up in many ways and continues to bond with her covenant their friends and families.
It seems that the spells get harder and harder as time and families moves on. Which means the knitting gang has to double down and get focus on the task at hand, It’s very interesting to see who,why this individual has too much time on their hands to hunt Hill crest community. Penny Is a strong, tough little woman she can get through anything, Thank you for sharing your amazing work, and also the puzzles. I received advanced copy of this book exchange for an honest review.
This is one of the best series I have ever read. It may be about witches and vampires but it is foremost a story of friends and how they support and love each other. It always has a very real message to send and it is a pleasure to watch them develop and grow. Penny and Turkey are adorable and so are the other ” witches and familiars”. Start from the beginning and follow the journey. You won’t be sorry.
I think the series gets better and better. I live the little quirks and comebacks and silly little things that I would think in a thought bubble. I laughed out loud and cheered on Penny as she tries to solve the mystery. A great read and a fun book, with illustrations too! If you haven’t read any of the books in the series, I recommend reading them because they are worth it and just as gratifying.
I love all her books. This one was very sweet and the characters were great. The story always ends too soon.
I loved how this started out with a bang. Penny inserts herself in and investigation with the local PD. She’s throwing a dinner party. Is she going to move out of her apartment? She has another murder to investigate. Oh my! She feeling overwhelmed and they need to start the air spell preparation. Ms. Anderson keeps this story moving with twists, turns, humor, and wrong conclusions. I couldn’t put it down until I finished the whole book!
Red Robin
I received a free copy of this ARC book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
There are a lot of new changes for Penny and she isn’t liking any of it. The Hillcrest Coven is working on The Air Spell, after accomplishing it things become more clear to Penny. There are murders to solve, involving collectors. Penny gets overwhelmed, considering one murder is from the past, and the case had been ruled an accident by the police. And of course, we can’t forget the girl’s familiars, loved the bit about Blueberry’s ensemble, lol. This was a very good book, just like the rest. I received an ARC from the author and am leaving an unbiased and honest review because I want to.
Air Spell by Amorette Anderson is funny and quirky and laugh out loud story! The characters and animals are quirky and their relationships are the best parts. The perfect fun, relaxing, no stress read.
The friends are continuing their magic studies. Their current lesson is the Air Spell and learning to embrace change and Penny really needs this spell. She is overwhelmed with the changes in her life: learning to become a witch, adjust to being a half-vampire, getting to know her father and still trying to be a successful PI. Now Penny has a new mystery. Who killed the Farmers’ Market grouchy coordinator and why? And why was sweet old Peter’s prize WWI scarf around her neck?
You will fall in love with the members of the knitting group and especially Thomas Edison, aka, Turkey.
This series is best read in order be a part of the growth in Penny and her friends. I did receive an advance copy of this five star story from the author and this is my honest review of this fun witchy cozy mystery.
Amorette does it again, another great read from Hillcrest. Penny learns to calm down and accept change, to resolve all her “dirty laundry and just let it go. Her journey is amazing. A great story line with wonderful and witty characters. Watch Penny and Max’s relationship grow and flourish amid all the busy business of their lives. A terrific read, they just get better and better!!!!!!!
I was once again pleased and excited to enter the world of the Hillcrest Witches that Ms. Anderson has written with such creativity, charm and wit. With each book written her characters continue to grow and shine not only as witches but also as human beings. While growth, change, witchcraft and love are mainstay elements in all of her work, never fear, the mystery element has not been neglected. It is pure pleasure to read as Penny, a hardworking but not very accomplished private eye, stumbles her way through another investigation, stepping on authority’s toes and making the reader wonder if she’ll ever figure it out. A truly enjoyable read that I highly recommend.
The coven is definitely growing in confidence and power. Penny, Cora, Marley and Annie have all had their lives turned upside down. The plots in this series have been fun and interesting. The characters are full of life and growing stronger every day. The chances that have been forced on the gang because of their studies, have been challenging to say the least. You will laugh at the situations they find themselves in and feel like you have become good friends with them. Totally recommend this series to all cozy mystery lovers.
A wonderful book. Penny is growing in leaps and bounds…slowly. LOL!!! You will enjoy the kooky ways of Penny and her friends especially Turkey her familiar. The story will take you on a few twist and turns, Penny style. This time she catches the killer in an odd setting but so Penny. You will love this book as well as the whole series!!
I read an early copy of this story and my honest opinion is this:
Once again Penny and Turkey kept me laughing and entranced and I didn’t put it down until I read it from beginning to end! I would suggest it best to start at the beginning of the series to understand the steps they are making but the adventures of Penny and her coven and their familiars is always fun and captivating. The author does a awesome job of pulling you in, and while a mystery, her wit and humor makes the book so enjoyable! Can’t wait for the next one!
This was a blast to read! I love Turkey as well as Penny, they are both delightful as characters! I love Penny’s haphazard personality, it is fun to join her as she solves the mystery! I look forward to reading more!
So many changes in Penny’s life. As Penny learns to become a witch, she is also learning to handle change. Many changes and revelations are revealed in this story. Penny has just met her father for the first time and is establishing a relationship. She has also just become a vampire, but doesn’t want to read the books Max gives her to learn about her new life. Penny doesn’t like change, but she will have to learn to handle it, and and deal with issued in her past in order to come out whole and free. I loved how she finally realized she can use her witchery to make things easier for her. She is a terrible cook, and has bad eating habits, but when she realizes she can conjure up food, look out! Her dinner parties become soooo much better.
I’ve read every book Ms. Anderson has written and I think this one is my favorite of this series so far. She always writes entertaining books. Do yourself a favor and read this series. Penny is at it again but this time, she’s working with the Hillcrest PD as a public-demanded “partner” instead of behind the scenes as PI. The murdered woman is the town grump, Corrine Wechler. The evidence points to one man. However, Penny’s intuition tells her he’s innocent. Lucy now admits that she can talk to ghosts but that doesn’t help Penny solve the crime. And, to make matters worse, Penny is supposed to host a dinner party and the guest list includes her dad with whom she had just connected. It’s at this dinner party that the murderer is revealed but only after many spells are worked and lots of food gets tossed (not just the salad).
I read an early copy of this story and my honest opinion is this:
I truly enjoyed the story! I feel very invested in the lives of these characters. They’re written so well that you just can’t help but feel like you’re experiencing the story through Penny and wanting the best for her and her friends. I like how with each spell they must learn, they’re presented with life struggles that are solved for once they’ve mastered that particular cycle’s spell. I always enjoy the moment when everything clicks into place.
The air spell was pretty neat! Unique approach to what was required to complete it. I always get a little kick out of the coven members complaining along the way (well, mostly Penny or Marley haha) because you can sense where and why they’re struggling and how it relates to their growth in the cycle.
I had an inkling of who the murderer might be and thoroughly enjoyed reading the story along the way to see if I was right or not. It’s well written, as usual. I loved the role that the Familiars played toward the end of the story. Creative! 🙂
I recommend this book and the entire series overall. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review.
Amorette Anderson has done it again, this book is absolutely brilliant.
I absolutely love the small coven of witches and their familiars, in this series of book’s. I particularly like how Penny and Turkey or should I say Thomas Eddison talk telepathically, and he helps her to make decisions about what to do. I also like Max, but we didn’t get to see much of him in this book.
I love how Penny inserted herself into the investigation by way of the public vote the way that she goes about investigating the case by straight out accusing people is great, she says it how she see it and doesn’t mince her word’s, sometimes unfortunately she should think before she speaks, but we all have querks
This series of book’s are absolutely brilliant and I definitely recommend them
Amorette has hillcrest tripping with change

Title:
The career path of a serial killer . . . .
This one starts out weird, we have a dyed in the wool literally by the letter organizer that doesn t appear to have a brain to think with. Soon it doesn t matter as the author pulls off one of her puns. We now have a mystery to solve { no, not the punny one, } but a murder, of course.
A neat twist, a murderer who s smart enough to use an item that can give them plausibility of deniability to themselves.
Penelope has yet to learn that if she states what could be (no matter how unlikely that it may be) around her ex boyfriend (police officer) and even though he doesn t believe in witchcraft, he will take the idea and run with it. How so ever, he ll also summarily dismiss any that offends his masculine beliefs. Sooner or later you ve got to learn this!
Spoilers:
This is unique, I don t think even “Barney Fife” of Mayberry RFD fame would pick as a murderer someone who can barely walk USING a cane, yet the intrepid Hillcrest police department did. The boot prints matched but no cane print. Walking normally, yet could only shuffle along when picked up using a cane.
{ Simply wow, by that reasoning I need to kill someone to get away from my cane and wheelchair, who to do in, though. And move to Hillcrest, I won t say Colorado, most police officers/departments have better brains than those in Hillcrest. }
Back to the book:
There s one character who donates to a nice sounding charity. She s even made a memorable donation, however one question comes to mind: Donations are good, but where did she get that amount of money? Smaller communities don t have that type of cash lying around.
I m wrong { of course } but you ll have to get this book to see where I screwed up at. Trust me, it s still worth it IMO!
Live life,
John Shrek Walters
