Knox and Gray weren’t a perfect match, but my heart found them to be pretty darn close. Careless Boyfriend marks a new beginning for two friends who never even had a clue. Knox is the girl who dares to dream, even as her world is falling apart. Gray is more than just a carefree guy. He feels deeply and yearns for the girl of his dreams to give him her heart. Kelly brings to life, an amazing tale of teenage heartache and adult second chances. From the fear of never fitting in, to the emotional upheaval of losing a best friend, Careless Boyfriend never claims to be anything but what is. A compelling look at the impact love brings and the hope it gives.
Ms Kelly is an author that I haven’t read much of (this is only the second book of her’s I’ve read and it’s been almost 2 years) and The Careless Boyfriend makes me want to read more.
This is the third book in a series about the Bowie brothers (don’t worry, it’s a stand alone) and focuses on Gray as fate brings him back into the orbit of his high school friend/crush seven years after he saw her last.
I liked both Gray and Knox. Given their history, it felt like their reconnection to friendship then more was fairly organic. There was baggage to deal with and while issues resurfaced more than once, it felt real and as if each encounter advanced their relationship.
This was a fun read and Gray’s brothers play a hefty role as secondary cast. There are hints at their stories, but nothing that would be a spoiler. I am definitely curious to go back at read the two Bowie Brother books already published and am looking forward to the 4th book featuring Brodie.
Gray and Knox grew up and went to school together, they were just from opposite sides of the town. Gray was also best friends with Knox’s boyfriend, and he was secretly in love with her. A chance disaster brings them back into each other’s lives, and nothing will stop Gray from showing her how he’s always felt.
Absolutely loved this book! Gray was such a good guy, and I loved how he wanted to do everything he could to help Knox.
Amazing friends to lovers romance. Gray has feelings for his best friend’s girl and she has no clue because basically she thought he was too good for her. Knox has had a lonely life, between her mom’s wanderlust and her boyfriend, Robert’s addictions. Gray was always there for her until he realized he enabled her while she was in the codependent relationship with Robert. They all cut ties in one way or another and Knox has a somewhat stable life as a designer, except for Luc’s manipulations. Gray abruptly drops into her life after a career ending accident. This book really shows how much we can hurt others without knowing and how easy it is for us to get involved in unhealthy patterns without realizing it. I really felt how strongly Gray loved Knox and how utterly confused Knox was by this. I loved how Callie and Delilah embraced and defended Knox. There are a lot of sweet moments between the main characters that had a profound affect on all of them. I loved the interactions between the brothers and the crew. I was so happy to see acceptance in both Gray and Knox as well as realizations from Gray’s brothers. Can’t wait to see what’s in store after that epilogue!
